  2. I would also like to point something most of you do will not see. By it's very nature, programming is a technical issues and hurdles must be overcome as limits are pushed. We are handling some very advanced issues that will pave the way for more full featured and reliable products. Nobody works with Laminar more than Cameron to solve these issues for the benefit of the community to grow the market. He consistently takes strides to remove obstacles for any and all developers and does so in the face of many ignorant and childish criticisms. I would like to simply thank him publically for the steps that he has taken on the behalf of all developers of x-plane. Thanks Cam! P.S. The MU2 hurdle was unexpected...a unforseen result of pushing some new limits, but the solution will ensue! Tom

  3. Like the topic says.... I wanted a way to view my current position in XP10 without having to pause the simulation to open the local map in the sim, so I created my own custom application to grab the UDP data gram and build a KML file that is read by Google Earth on a timer. I can specify the eye level for the zoom and provide a custom icon for the aircraft position. I run this on my laptop over a wireless link sitting next to my XP10 monitor. Development was done in Visual Studio Express 2010 as a WPF Tray Application in C#. I use IPEndPoint and UDPClient objects on an interval timer to fetch the data and a BinaryReader to parse it out into Lat and Long for the file which is just an XML File. Google Earth is setup with a new Network File pull to the location on a interval of 2-5 seconds. Sectional Overlay: I found a KML link file called Aero_Charts that allows me to toggle a sectional chart on and off for my location. If anyone is interested in trying this tool, I am close to having something to distribute.

  11. I understan that creating a scenery from scratch is a lengthy process that requires a considerable amount of time and dedication, first on the research and then in the development it self. I've noticed that sceneries are usually released as a single aerodrome or airport and that most developers concentrate in one single airport at the time and usually a major hub, like KJFK, KLAX, etc. Which makes sense to me since small aerodromes are only popular for people that either live in the area and want to to fly locally or for someone that has visited the place and want to recreate a trip; but how about a series of the most difficult or dangerous airports in the world. For a while I have been looking for converted from MSFS or even native files to convert to XP of the known 10 most weird or dangerous airports to land, and I've found some but not all. in XP9 Lukla was possible to land at but in XP10 with the rwy follows the contour... is just impossible, there are some sharp edges on the runway. It is not even possible to start at the runway without crashing, which is a bummer. I remember last years or perhaps 2 years ago there was an attempt to make an online fly-in and the route was from Katmandu to lukla. It was a lot of fun and quite challenging. I guess my suggestion is that: To make a series of airports/aerodromes of the most difficult or dangerous airports in the world: http://www.squidoo.com/weird-airports

  14. Ok.. this time I worked on the night light of the cockpit. The good is that we have more beliable night lights with shadows in the cockpit. The bad, is because they are baked texture illumination I won't be able to divide Right-left-center light panel as the real plane has. I could do it with the 3 internal lights xplane give me.. but those lights don't produce shadows... So I preffered to do this way. The flood general one will be a 3D internal light. I am thinking what to do with the other 2 xplane gives me.....
