Goran. I have just 1 question right now: When? When will we see the update? I can't wait already :)

We're working on it.  I used some the same modeling techniques on the Sundowner that I used on the Duchess.  I also did all the animations from scratch.  Theo re-textured some objects.  Problem now is that Theo is unable to do anything at certain times because of the earthquake in Christchurch (which is where he lives).  His power keeps cutting out and this is the time I was going to get him to re do the exterior textures.

We still have the panel regions to do (manipulators and displays) so it shouldn't be long.

hi all.

a simple question because using the Ch yoke I haven't noticed it before: CARB HEAT level works in this way: CARB HEAT ON with the level pulled on the pilot side and CARB HEAT OFF with the level pushed on the panel side, aren't you?

sorry for this silly question.

Carb heat on = lever pulled back

carb heat off = lever pushed forward

Correct.

(Sorry for the late reply!)

It sounded like the Sundowner update was getting very close a while back with just a few items left.  Any additional progress to report?  Thanks for making such outstanding models.. your planes are true works of art!

Thanks.

We've been going hard on the Saab lately.  The remodeling of the Sundowner is done.  All that is left is the Panel regions and manipulators.  However, Theo has been busy texturing a lot of the Saab lately as well as doing the artwork for the display screens.    As soon as those are done, he'll start on the Sundowner Panel regions while I continue with gauges, systems and the manual for the Saab.

We understand that people are waiting on the Sundowner update, but we want to make sure we cover everything as we don't plan on making anymore patches for the Sundowner unless its needed for V10 compatibility.  On top of that, we are pushing hard to get the Saab out pre christmas for V10 and V9.

any info about the update?

Theo, who is doing the panel regions for the Sundowner, is flat out finishing the panel regions of the saab at the moment.  Once the Saab is finished, the Sundowner update will be done in about 2-3 weeks after the Saab.

We appreciate the patience.

I flew in a Beechcraft Musketeer as a birthday gift and I discovered that it is very similar to the Sundowner. This influenced me to fly your Sundowner in X-Plane more. When I was flying it today, I noticed that the marker on the artificial horizon was randomly disappearing and then coming back. Have you heard of this problem yet?

BTW:  When you think the SAAB will be ready ?

Can you provide a screenshot of what exactly you are referring to?

There's the screenshot. It does that on and off. If I move my view or zoom, it reappears, but I'd like to fix it considering I keep my views still. Notice the top line of the indicator is missing.

I think it's because of the glare from the sun.  Try it again from a very close up view and from the side and see if it still disappears.

Hi RushFan - pardon me for barging in, but you said it's fixed if you move the viewpoint. So if you move your viewpoint fractionally forwards (page-up key) it behaves properly? As a bodge fix, you could use the PilotView plugin to change your default viewpoint very slightly (and assign presets to useful panel-view - closeup of radios for instance - for easier cockpit navigation, while you're at it)

I think he's referring to the horizontal line on your attitude indicator. Its a real close brother of the light sky blue color for the horizon background. I would imagine that has to be changed in the cockpit folder.

How is the autopilot in the Sundowner supposed to work? I can see the AP switch in the photo of the instrument panel. Is it just for heading only and you have to trim for altitude? The Sundowner pictures didn't show the typical autopilot with HDG/NAV/APP/ALT/VS control. Past forum posts late last summer seemed to indicate an update was going to be released. Has there been an update?

Thanks.

I haven't bought the Sundowner yet, so no manual to refer to.. I have been planning on purchasing either the Duchess or Sundowner, or maybe both. In looking at the Sundowner image gallery on the X Aviation site, all I could locate was the switch labelled AUTO PILOT beside the one for MAGIC HAND, and there appears to be no other A/P control switches. Therefore, my curiosity in wondering how it works in this aircraft, or even if there is one. Similarly, it seems the upcoming Carenado Piper Archer doesn't have an autopilot, and while I don't mind hand flying an aircraft, I would prefer to know for sure how that part of the Sundowner works before buying.

What Steven said.

Also, the update is in progress.

I've remodelled just about the entire aircraft.  Theo is fixing the textures and then we just have to remap the panel regions and its done.

Unfortunately, the Saab is taking up all of our time right now.  I'm typing up a 300+ page manual and revising it (5th revision now) and Theo is cleaning up some textures and adding annunciators to the displays.

After the Saab is done, we'll get the update for the Sundowner and Duchess done.
