Kesomir Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 What is the re-download policy at x-aviation?I ask because I know that download links expire. Quote
Cameron Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hi, Alex,As of this writing X-Aviation offers re-downloads free of charge upon request through our support ticket system. With that said, it is always encouraged you keep your own backups handy! Quote
Kesomir Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Cheers Cameron.Just a heads up - I tried browsing for the REX product using x-aviation and couldn't find it - it doesn't seem to appear in the scenery listing. Can get to it from the above link and from the rex website though. Quote
Cameron Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hi, Alex,It's listed under the software category.Cheers! Quote
woweezowee Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Will wait for the Mac version and buy it. Nice textures! But I wonder, does it also improve xplanes wheather system like, say, I could see dark rainy clouds from far away and avoid them while flying vfr. Or do the conditions still "jump" depending on the time setting downloading new metar? Quote
Kesomir Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Just need to shower and head down to the flight sim pc and then clcik buy Quote
crs Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 No Linux version. boo. Does anyone know if they are planning to release one?Kind regards,Kamil Quote
OlaHaldor Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Wow, this is an instant BUY... when I get the monthly little pennies on my VISA. 8) Quote

Kesomir Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 clouds look gorgeous.HD clouds (2048x2048) appear to drop my frames from about 50 to about 35, but I'll need more than a 5 minute test. Quote

This includes a selection for smaller textures should you choose that option in the configuration of REX. Quote

mick431 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 I saw it on the REX website before it was released a few days ago. Glad to see they're selling it on X-Aviation. One question about REXPlane, does it include ground textures? Quote
Cameron Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hi, Mick,REXPlane does not include ground textures. It is a weather enhancement system with some new applications in place that not even MSFS utilize at the moment. If the interest in the product is there, it has been said that REX will consider expanding as wide as has been seen with some of their previous products. Quote
crs Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hi there,@Cameron - you seem like being in touch with REX Team. Do you know or could you find out please if they are planning releasing a Linux version as well?Thank you kindly,Kamil Quote
Cameron Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hi, Kamil,I'm afraid Linux will probably not be in the future for a product like REX. The market demand is just not present there to warrant the investment and upfront costs for a team like REX.Someday this may change, but for now, I think it's safe to say "no." Quote
MdMax Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hi CameronOK, no Linux version, but then, on the product page, you should write "Windows Only", not "PC Only". Happy flying. 8) Quote
Cameron Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hi, Max,You're absolutely correct. Fixed. Quote
mick431 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks for answering Cameron. To be honest I don't have interest in REX for X-plane if ground textures aren't included, as 30 bucks is out of my budget for just weather enhancement. Quote
crs Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Please do not get it as moaning or complaining. Just my two cents.Releasing multiplatform applications is so easy nowadays that every company which is moving towards providing solutions for multiplatform applications is not really good on business planning. I do understand that they have quickly ported theirs product to go along with x-plane. By this they still restricted themselves to Windows platforms. I do not understand why they do not move towards multiplatform solution instead of just porting to Mac OS (which I think was announced). Mac OS is an Unix. Please, do not get me wrong here, what I am trying to say is that X-Plane is so popular at the moment because it was available to different platforms. To be honest, if I were a Windows user I would probably be flying PMDG's planes, deriding X-Planes lack of proper ATC, hi-class planes (changing as we speak), hi-class addons like REX, etc. Seriously, I love X-Plane and not trying to knock off anything from it but it was (and still is) 2nd Flight Sim, not the 1st one unfortunately.Kind regards,Kamil. Testpilot Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Oh wow! Thank you so much for making this available, this is like a leap forward in simulation in my mind. The one that I felt simulation was lacking from its real world counterpart was the sky. I mean that is why we fly right?. I really don't care if it doesn't have ground textures. I look forward to trying it when the mac version comes out. Thanks again guys! Quote
Simmo W Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Please do not get it as moaning or complaining. Just my two cents.Kamil, I'm a windoze user but abandoned fsx almost a yr ago. I wouldn't go near pmdg, as flying @ 10fps does not interest me. I agree it's a pity Rex is not out for linux or apple yet, but frankly we are lucky to get Rex at all for xp, so quickly. If I want real ATC I use vatsim. With Rex, assuming it performs as advertised, I reckon we'll be set! Great planes, nice cloudy skies and Norcal for eyecandy. I don't need orbx etc, too busy flying my plane to gawk at fps sucking buildings - but there are already great 3d sceneries- xpfr Paris (see my paf video), Corsica (ditto), eddm amazing, inside passage, OLA's work, javier's LESA etc, plus god knows what surprises xaviation and Ben have instore for us. Good times. But not if you're with Linux, bummer. Maybe time to dualboot? Quote
