flydav Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Not that I've been a big fan of clouds reflections onto the water but is this an obvious consequence of being driven by a plugin?
Cameron Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Not that I've been a big fan of clouds reflections onto the water but is this an obvious consequence of being driven by a plugin?Yes and no. It requires a special API call and would be a major performance hit.
zzap_v Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 What about cloud shadows on the ground?
sqrt(-1) Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Yes and no. It requires a special API call and would be a major performance hit. Could that perhaps be made a user selectable option for those with strong systems? Someday?
JohnMAXX Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 It could be, but we first need more access in X-Plane.....
flydav Posted December 6, 2013 Author Report Posted December 6, 2013 Personally i really dislike them because they make the ocean look like a lake so if LR will ever fix the way the ocean looks maybe it could be interested to have the clouds reflections otherwise I would just be happy with the huge fps boost Now sorry I'm going to go off topic but really don't feel that I should open too many topics... one thing is really bothering me if I reload the plugins Skymaxxpro goes to default settings is it something you can fix in the future? Although I have a screenshot of my settings I find it really annoying to go back and re-tweak the settings. Thanks!
Cameron Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 if I reload the plugins Skymaxxpro goes to default settings is it something you can fix in the future? What do you mean by reload the plugins?
JohnMAXX Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Ah change the cloud layers in the weather dialog to bring them back....shutting off the plugin from plugin admin and then turning it back on will not restart the clouds. You will need to do it manually....
flydav Posted December 6, 2013 Author Report Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) What do you mean by reload the plugins? I mean by reloading them from within python interface or using another tool I have Xreloaded which can reload scenery or aircraft or plugins, separately.Sometimes instead of clicking on reload scenery (as I''m currently working on something) I click reload plugins by mistake. Cameron Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 I mean by reloading them from within python interface or using another tool I have Xreloaded which can reload scenery or aircraft or plugins, separately. Sorry, but I'm not sure we'll support this. As it stands SkyMaxx DOES save a settings file for you to prevent you from having to keep doing this. If you are using additional third party software like this which somehow manipulates this feature (even if on accident), I'm not sure what to say. Perhaps you should not use them for SkyMaxx.
Ben Russell Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 DO NOT RELOAD PLUGINS DURING SIM OPERATIONS This functionality is provided as a developer tool only and is KNOWN to cause multiple issues. You are beyound the boundary of technical support and normal ops. No support will be provided for any product or plugin when the user chooses to use a developer tool to reload the plugins in this manner.
scotchegg Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 In common with virtually everyone who's bought the product, I'm enjoying the clouds to a degree that some might consider unhealthy. Really good work. But I do miss their reflections on water, so if there's any way to get them back without (too much of) a framerate hit, that would be wonderful. If you could also get the ground shadows back, well I don't think I need to spell out the effect that will have...
Cameron Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 We're continually working to improve, so just stay tuned. Glad you're enjoying the product!
flydav Posted December 14, 2013 Author Report Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) If you plan to introduce this feature please make it in a way that the user can't turn it on or off from within the UI as I said it is very unrealistic to have these reflection over the ocean but they are very nice over lakes. Maybe it's just me, but I feel having choices is better than not having them.

flydav Posted December 15, 2013 Author Report Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) Obviously there was a typo "the user CAN turn it on or off" as I said, I would switched them off over the ocean but ON over the lakes. Edited December 15, 2013 by flydav
Ben Russell Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 What happens when you have a lake near an ocean? What happens if it's a very large lake that's more than capable of picking up chop on the surface... All water surfaces reflect.Usually the larger water bodies have enough wave action to scatter but even the middle of the ocean will become perfectly glassy on some days. 2
flydav Posted December 15, 2013 Author Report Posted December 15, 2013 All I'm saying is that I would like to have the choice whether to activate this feature or not.The problem is that in the real life the ocean reflects only if certain weather conditions are met, but in X plane the ocean reflects everything all the time even when the weather is bad and windy so in these cases I would rather switch it off.
sundog Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 It will be switchable in the SkyMaxx configuration, flydav. It's already coded up.
flydav Posted December 16, 2013 Author Report Posted December 16, 2013 Already?! You guys don't waste time Thanks so much it will be an awesome new feature!!! 1
