Hi, Cameron!!

When is the Saab 340A update will be released? That'll be good news because my x-plane has totally run out of memory. Thanks!

Cheers,

Vincent

My answer to that question is in the original post. :)

no offense to cameron intended, but why wake people up about something that isn't ready yet? There is no added value.  Personally I'm irritated as crap by this modus operandi, near the point of binning the entire saab addon.

I had already shelved it for now, because fps performance is too poor for my taste atm. We do not all have the luxury of Titans in our systems nor am I inclined to go buy one just because some flight sim addon seems to need one to get decent performance. (I have a very capable system atm that runs the obsolete fsx with rex utx and pmdg products flawlessly with high fps)

But then they wake you with updates and fps improvement, only to discover it's another teaser for an unfinished update to be released within a vague timeframe, so, while this beeing a niche market, still you have a lot of people F5-ing the forums for the release of the update.

The Value of his post are to inform people of what can be expected in the update. I see no reason to be upset by this.

I am flying my Saab with 660gtx with HRD on with FPS's running 20-25. Also a Titan will not help, Its your CPU not GPU fyi.

You are comparing running a 13 year old flight sim to X-plane 10 with an add-on that is equivalent to a program, on it's own, running inside another program. My old setup which was 6 years old ran FSX -Orbx etc etc with no problems also, but had a hell of a time with X-plane 10. So comparing the 2 is irrelevant.

It sad that we live in the "I want it now" age. This is the cause of so much crap that is put out on the mark before it ready.

Just be glad he is giving you any kind of update. Which is a lot more than I can say for most publishers / Devs in the gaming industry.

I find it funny that you are mentioning spamming f5 to find out about an update. That is just pure insanity to me and I believe these people have a slight problem. This reminds me of people waiting for beta key invite emails from blizzard (by refreshing their inbox) and crying on the forums when they don't get one.

LOL!

Hm yes I admit, patience is not really my strongest point. As far as an update goes, that's admirable, I just don't like the " within days, weeks, months"  vague references or terms you cannot keep, as with the original release.

I'm still somewhat torn between fsx and x plane, I really want to like x plane and was rooting for the saab and was a bit let down by the hit on the system, because even with the pmdg 777 I really dont want to go back to fsx as my main sim. Planes in fsx look nice, pmdg is awesome, but the overall look of fsx looks plastic like to me, the lighting is somehow off cant put my finger on it. Where the lighting in xplane and the look of terrain is lightyears more realistic imo.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have an application for the position of either Statler or Waldorf to put in the mail.

I understand about being impatient, however he did say he did not know when the release of the update will be. He also said, He would like it out in a few days, but we all know, if its not possible, its not possible.

I would rather them hold up the update if they can squeeze in a few more bug fixes that were close to being finished or fully test the patch so there is no additional bugs caused.

X-plane 10, FSX, P3D have their Positives and Negitives. X-Plane 10 is a nexgen flight sim, where as FSX / P3D (in current state) is old news with devs (not M$ devs) scrapping the bottom of the barrel to keep them going. You have great planes and add-ons that are out coming out for X-plane 10 and it will only get better.

I can understand your point, but I think there is a larger picture to see.  Cameron and the rest of the developers have been getting pressure from many people who ask repeatedly "when is the update being released?" and others still concerned about their individual issues.  I believe the information provided to the public is an attempt to keep people informed that they ARE working on it, as well as what they are working on.  They have listened to their customers, researched the reported problems, and are in the process of making corrections and improvements.

I think the report was well done and appropriate.  I hope that you can see their efforts as customer oriented.  I think you'll find that over time they are a very good company that takes their work, and customer's views very seriously.

Tsetosh is right on point here, and I appreciate that he was able to answer from a different customer point of view.

If we're going to be really honest here, sparkie66, PMDG too has had their fair share of delay, most recently being the week long debacle for the 777. If memory serves me right for the Saab release, we were pretty much about the same. Unexpected things happen, especially when it comes to programming. More than anything, I think a lot more goes on than meets the eye that a lot of customers do not realize when it comes to getting a product online for distribution (even after the product is complete).

Over the years we have done various types of rollouts. I personally prefer those that don't specify dates, but I know customers in general have shared their frustration over being kept in the dark. This is one of those scenarios where it's "damned if you do, and damned if you don't". We either take the heat for being silent, or we take the heat for being talkative, but even still I am trying to find a balance. As has been seen lately, one of those ideas is to share informative dialogue with our customers not many days before something is to happen. It's still a best guess scenario, but the premise definitely is to let customers know we care and that we haven't gone on vacation to leave things in the state they are currently in.

If there's anything we truly do care about it's our customers and making sure we can do as much as we plausibly can to please them. Rest assured, this update will get out and your patience in the process is very much appreciated. We're just busy making it a little better than it already is. :)

Hi, guys!

I'm waiting for the Saab 340A update very patiently considering my x-plane is totally run out of memory and the Saab 340A pauses every now and then. Please keep up the excellent work on the Saab 340A update! Thanks!

Cheers,

Vincent

Hello Cameron,

I was wondering, will your customers be notified by email, as soon as the update is released.  I would like to know as soon as it is ready for download, that way I don't have to keep checking.

Thanks,

Bob

A Gizmo update went into developers hands for internal testing about two days ago...

If they don't report any bugs we'll update soon.

We don't want to ship you something that's broken in a subtle way because we're trying to make it run a little faster..

after getting a message of Jim, of the developer team what I have to consider as heavy threatening, I decided to delete my post as it was claimed in this PM.

Sorry, that I argued you do not act professional.

I will not complain anymore and hope I'm now the customer you want to have with me....

This thread and your answers are totally in common with your self advertisement on your homepage at x-aviation.com:

Writing your sarcastic, arrogant answer to one of your paying customers costed you as much time as just writing the link to the post in this thread.

Congrats from my side to your professional behaviour.

If somebody tells me, his business modell includes joking about customers I would think he's not the smartest guy. But I'm sure with your 5 year experience you do the job just perfectly :)

I can just encourage everybody to buy something from you and make the same annoying experience with what you call "quality reputation" (fixed typo in your orignal text - it's a quality thing you know ;)) and "responsive service support times".

Regards

However his answer was no less than 2 post above his. I feel Cameron's response is far from unprofessional and sarcastic, To be honest my answer would have been way more colorful. ;)
