.ORG is down?

I was kicked from .org totally unnecessarily and for whatever reason deemed to be worth a lifelong ban, a reason I may add that still puzzles me, But I agree with the sentiment here the org is a great place for files downloads and obscure knowledge about the client, software tuition some great files and don't forget a lot of developers place their upgrades there.

 

So yes, the x-plane community would be a lot poorer if we lost the .org, If you don't like the management then that's understandable, but please don't lump the .org site into that dislike.

Of course I dont want to kick the developers ass, but we have to say that high-quality-developers are very very rare (that goes for all flight simulators). There is a handful of really good guys but from the 1000s of GB available here and there you can use less than 1% on a daily basis (that also goes for every flight simulator).

 

So hey - a crash or a loss would be hard but not the death of x-plane.

Have been a member of the org since 1999, been banned on & off for years. Things settled down as I aged and discovered to keep my mind from typing what I really feel.Works

wonders and I still have resources to download and get updates. Cameron and me know all about what can happen when your passions get out of control on a keyboard. Oh well.

I am also a member both sites. Been a member of the ORG since 2008. I find as long as you keep politics out of your posts and topics you shouldn't have a problem getting banned. IMHO

Sorry i don't agree. I got banned merely for answering a post someone asked earlier that day asking if you had to pay customs in the uk when ordering from the org. I said i didn't think so as my own orders had not incurred vat so I doubted whether duty would be incurred either. I went on to mention in the same post if it would be possible for members who had purchased from the store to be able to have acceptance as not a spambot for posting purposes. That apparently was a big sin which got the post locked and me banned.

Nothing to do with politics at all just a little commensense question or two that moderator xdave took exception to. Followed by a polite email asking why.

Yes, they are. What you would hope to believe as something unbelievable sadly does happen there. That mindset of "na, can't be" is honestly a big part of the problem. And, while even Steven "likes" your post he should know better as well.

That said, while majority are not banned for something so simple, a number are banned for something others would not even consider offensive, wrong, or even challenging.

For that matter, you're calling someone you don't know a liar. You'll have access to that section you've been seeking soon enough if the subject interests you so.

Luckily, you didn't have to buy anything. It was free.

Look hon, I don't really care one way or the other as I have said in another post I am too long in the tooth to care about tinpot dictators, but to put your mind at rest and so you can see for yourself go to the org and look at this thread.

I then sent a polite non insulting post to Nicolas, which said I felt I had been treated in an aggressive manner and asking why.

But please don't take any offence. I don't really think you are calling me a liar you just hadn't been treated that way and couldn't believe that someone else could. I still have trouble believing it myself.

I have used a different account to access the thread this morning so at this point I know it is still there.

The strange thing is my original account cannot even log out as she got banned while logged in, so I have no way to access my account to log off.

Below is a copy of the email I sent to try to make sense of why I was being treated so aggressively. So if anyone thinks there is more to the story, you can either believe me or not. It is not that important. I do know I was telling the truth and if you doubt the veracity of what happened perhaps it is because you don't wish to accept others can do this.

This is my last words on the subject now as I seem to have hijacked the thread a bit which is unfair on the OP.

I am sorry but after answering a question on a thread I merely asked that if a person had already shown support on .org by purchasing items from the store could the anti spambot rule of two posts be excused, as spambots would not be buying from the store.

I received a terse reply on the thread from xdave moderator with the thread being locked referring to store questions. Then I discovered that my permission to access the forums had been withdrawn.

I was asking nothing about the store only if the forums could return support shown by members who used the store, as regards the spambot rule.

How was I to know that such an innocent question was going to be treated so aggressively.

I apologise at upsetting someone so easily but as a 67 year old grandmother I was amazed at being treated so harshly.

Could you advise me how long I will be refused entry to the forums or is this a lifetime punishment.

Tragic it came this, so sorry Femke. But with org dealing with 232529 members, I am sure it has become a blur to their moderating staff.  I was once a mod there many moons ago.

Long before the draconian moderating tactics took a hold.  Sad thing about it to, is if anyone who is still in good standing at the org tried to defend you, I am afraid they would quickly

become another org reject to. 

 

Redfisher, Xdave has been invited to our get together many times, but always has an excuse his health is not so good. And he only lives. like 70 miles away.

I accepted you didn't insinuate I was a liar, and I have given you all the information I could to show the veracity of my posts and follow ups, and as I said, I understand why you may have trouble believing it happened the way described when I still have trouble believing it myself. I knew something smelt "fake" about this guy named "Stent" and his writing style.

 

He used to famously go by the name of "Fake Austin" as so many of you will remember. Cross referencing his information here with the old username he had produces a 100% match (same IPs).

 

As FakeAustin was previously banned here, so too is Stent as of this moment.

 

Furthermore, there is a strong resemblance in writing to past forum member Wetted Area, whom was banned here as well after going rather "nuts" on numerous individuals. As if that that's not coincidental enough, Wetted Area and FakeAustin/Stent have IP locations within miles of one another. Perhaps a work vs home situation, with FakeAustin and Stent being utilized at home. 

 

In any case, Stent is now banned.
