Pivot Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Does anyone know how to get the landing light to illuminate the ground? I taxi'd myself right into the pasture last night.. Quote

cruster Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Gotta turn on HDR. Is that true for most planes? When I turn on HDR it absolutely kills my frame rates (I'm on a late-2011 MBP 15"). Although, I'm pretty sure the JS32 landing/taxi lights work. Hrmm. Quote
Pivot Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Cameron, do they work for you? I only fly night time with HDR on. Oddly enough the Skymaster works fine. Another weird anomaly is that the light illuminates objects such as other planes, hangars, etc. I was thinking it may be aimed incorrectly. Please let me know if it is working on your machine. I have not tried it in normal mode yet but will shortly but as stated "I LOVE HDR for night flying" no worries about the jaggies there.. Pivot Quote
Mario Donick Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Taxi Light and Landing Lights of every plane always illuminate other objects, even without HDR. If taxi lights are on the nose wheel, the light moves according to the direction of the nose wheel (i.e. when steering during taxiing). If you did not forget to switch the lights on, it's maybe a strange bug? (I can't imagine that it works any different in the A36 then in the F33, but who knows ...) Quote
Goran_M Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 If they are custom lights with a light spill added, they will need HDR to be enabled.Light spill only works with HDR. Quote
Pivot Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Gotta turn on HDR. Cameron, just tested it without HDR and the landing & taxi lights work, unfortunately this kills the immersion factor since I really like those lit up airports. Guess I'll need to use four wheel drive for night time taxi'ing.. Quote
Cameron Posted March 3, 2013 Report Posted March 3, 2013 Taxi Light and Landing Lights of every plane always illuminate other objects, even without HDR.Incorrect, especially with the new spill lights. If they are not XP10 optimized then only a given number will work, and often times not as many as the aircraft may actually have. This is precisely why the pretty night lights in XP10 as a whole don't work unless HDR is enabled. There is a spill cone effect Dan creates, but this is not what we're talking about anyhow. It should definitely work with HDR (haven't had time to try), but I'd say something is definitely amiss if it's not. Then I am not sure what you are talking about. I can't use HDR, but even in new planes the landing and taxi lights illuminate the grounds somewhat dynamically, that means when I stand in front of the gate and move my rudder to move my nose gear, I can "spotlight" the things in front of me. I know that in HDR this effect is even stronger, but this "spotlightning" works. I never had a plane where it does not. O.o Edit: Okay. Maybe I'm indeed wrong when it goes to taxi lights. I made a short test with the F33 and noticed that in HDR I only have landing lights, these work fine: But I know that some of my planes have working taxi lights -- that's strange.
