alxunru Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Just waiting for Frontier to finally decide to fly to KCPR from KDEN...then I could really fly on one of these bad boys. Granted we've been waiting since Lynx / Frontier bought Q400s for CPR DEN service. The old United Q200s just aren't as much fun Wings and engines are looking sharp!CheersAlex Quote
Jack Skieczius Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 Thanks guys.Yeah i can't wait to even see one in real life. My plane is, once i have enough money, which will probably be after release, is to go take a trip up to Canada and go see one, and maybe take a flight one one. Would be like a kid in a candy store on a real Q400. Quote
YYZatcboy Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 If you fly porter, let me know. Quote
Rafael Fernandez Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Looks really good! on the ailerons are the black cuts part of the texture or just the model? Quote
alxunru Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Looks like shading where the aileron gap is. Most likely a combination of the shading on the model from the sim and the subtle shaded textures. Quote
Jack Skieczius Posted December 26, 2009 Author Report Posted December 26, 2009 Been some time sine i actually modeled the parts in the images bellow but i decided to render em up.The gaps will obviously be filled in in the future but the panels are pretty much modeled and ready for texturing.Again, this was done like tow months ago, and wont be getting its final touches for another month or so. not till the exterior is finished for the most part. Jack Skieczius Posted December 26, 2009 Author Report Posted December 26, 2009 Just realized the glareshield is way to big. so if that was something you noticed to, you were bang on. Quote
dan Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 Can't wait to take her to the skies ;D Quote
YYZatcboy Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 I am actually surprised how big the glare shield really is. Otherwise you seem to have it pretty much down. obviously it could change with the seats in, but it seems a bit to big and roomy. The real thing is so cramped that the jump seat is part of the cockpit door. Are you going to get all of the systems programmed like in real life (A La CRJ)?. Quote
Jack Skieczius Posted December 27, 2009 Author Report Posted December 27, 2009 Been having such a nice holiday vacation sine i got over having bronchitis. Been having such a great time intact, i was able to refine my texturing skills, which i would say have been pretty lacking to date. So, textured up the Right Engine Nacelle and i hope its satisfactory. The default livery will be Flybe as you can see from the pics bellow. -TheoGregory Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 Ahhh joys of normal maps. Looks great Quote
inktomi Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 Looks amazing. I'm reallllly looking forward to flying this plane around - the Dash 8 is one of my all time favorite aircraft to play around in. Are you planning on doing systems as well?(I'd offer programming help, but I've never done anything in XPlane, and don't know C =/ ) Quote

The FMC is another things all together, were programing is not my strong suite, i can dabble in it, but i cant and wont promises a feature rich FMC at this time, but it sure is on the back of my mind all the time.so in sumery, she will have all the EFIS pages, but maybe not a FMC, but the future can change things fast, so keep checking back in. Choix Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 Looks good! Hope you have refined your texturing skills Quote
Simmo W Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 Wow, that fuselage looks more detailed than the a380, you're doing well ! Hehe. I think that one Nacelle is prettier than any of that 380. Quote

It is easy to think of it this way tho, the more time and effort put in the more likely you guys are to buy my product, hence, more money. Its a good trade off and will allow me to make a stunning product for you all to fly. Quote

Flat boring textures just wont cut it anymore! Quote
YYZatcboy Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Just wanted to re offer my help with Weight and Balance if you need it. Quote
Jack Skieczius Posted December 30, 2009 Author Report Posted December 30, 2009 Thanks for the offer there bud,At the moment however, i have all the information about weight and balance that i will need.I even have the correct CG limits on the sim already. Quote
Jack Skieczius Posted January 17, 2010 Author Report Posted January 17, 2010 Wanted to point out the new site logo and website layout.also, you can now follow the updates on twitter. Quote
Superxpdude Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 It looks pretty cool! I can't wait for it. But the Dash 8 was what the plane was called before DeHavilland Canada was bought by Bombardier. It was then renamed the Q Series. Quote
YYZatcboy Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Actually it is called the Dash 8 Q400 (DHC8D or DHC8-Q402)This was done to differentiate between the Dash 8 "Classics" and the Dash 8's with the NVS and new interiors. To settle it, the seat belts on the q400 have Dash 8 engraved on them Quote
