Cannot get hardware nosewheel steering to work

Hi,

As I understand the LES SAAB has a different operation of the nosewheel than most implementations. I cannot get it to work unfortunately.

This is what I did:

- I assigned the default X-Plane nosewheel tiller to my Hotas (like I always do). I did not see a specific LES setting to assign.
- I pushed the tiller in the cockpit down - this should activate the nose wheel steering

As the plane moves forward, the nose hweel does not respond to the manipulator. I tried this both with the setting 'Use Tille' on and off.

Based on the various information sources I'd expect that I should use setting 'Use Tiller' off and the cokpit Tiller pushed down.

Now I move with differential braking and use of props, but it is annoying.

As far as I  remember, this is happening since version 1.6.

Am I doing something wrong?

NOSE WHEEL STEERING:

There seems to be some confusion on how this is implemented.

We have provided two (2) options (selectable in user preferences).

1) Use Tiller Checked (ON)  - This allows you to use the in-cockpit tiller (manipulator) to steer.

2) Use Tiller Unchecked (OFF) - This allows for mouse/hardware steering.

In addition... steering is only available when the following criteria are met:

    • On the ground (WOW)
    • Hydraulic PSI >= 1500
    • Aircraft is moving
    • Tiller is engaged (depressed)

I've read this one. Only thing I didn't check is the hydraulic. I'll check tomorrow.

  • 4 months later...

I have the same problem but haven't been able to solve it. I have the Thrustmaster TCA sidestick but when assigning nosewheel tiller to the twist axis, even though the tiller box is unticked and the tiller is engaged (depressed), the nosewheel is not moving.

If I tick the tiller option I can control it with the mouse scroll wheel but it also behaves weirdly, almost like if there was a control conflict. I tripled checked everything and the tiller is assigned only and exclusively to the joystick twist axis and no other peripherals are connected.

Any idea?
