Goran_M Posted December 2, 2011 Author Report Posted December 2, 2011 Cockpit is textured so animating starts today.Taken in XP10
Ntr09 Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 That is some great texturing Theo! Really conveys the fact that it's old.
Hueyman Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 Hope this beast will come in the day to comes ;-) and XP9.70 Compatible also ?
Goran_M Posted December 6, 2011 Author Report Posted December 6, 2011 Not days. Definitely weeks.9.7 and 10 compatible.
carthorse Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 Textures are amazing. Thanks for the screenshot!
eaglewing7 Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Mighty fine looking Douglas you've got there.Any chance of a some what beat up looking panel, or a more... dare I say modernized? By modernized I simply mean the look of a DC-3 that is flying today, with more modern gauges...Of course, only if you've got time.
Goran_M Posted December 11, 2011 Author Report Posted December 11, 2011 We're not ruling it out, but we're not saying definitely "yes, we'll do a modernized panel".To make a more modernized panel means modelling a new panel from scratch, including overhead, and then re-texturing it, re-animating it, and making new panel regions and manipulators.. Because of the amount of work involved (about 6 weeks worth of full time work), it won't be a free upgrade. However, I don't want to start anything by saying we're thinking of doing it. It's 50/50. We've got quite a few things going on at the moment and a modernized version of the DC-3 panel is somewhere in the middle of our job list...if we decide to go ahead with it.We just want to get this DC-3 done (Floats and Wheels version), wrapped and packaged so we can move onto our next project. If we do a modernized panel, it'll be a side project.
Hueyman Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Very clean and precise modelling & textureing, great job !!I'm impatient to see how the exterior lookKee up the good work !

If we do a modernized panel, it'll be a side project.I understand completely, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be willing to get the upgrade. The only reason I was asking is because very few if any DC-3's are still flying with that panel configuration. Most are flying with something along the lines of this:http://www.airliners.net/photo/Buffalo-Airways/Douglas-C-47A-Skytrain/1926582/L/&sid=2044c95b994cfd75e2f8d701afb90c04http://www.airliners.net/photo/Buffalo-Airways/Douglas-C-47A-Skytrain/2009678/L/&sid=2044c95b994cfd75e2f8d701afb90c04http://www.airliners.net/photo/Buffalo-Airways/Douglas-C-47A-Skytrain/1692907/L/&sid=2044c95b994cfd75e2f8d701afb90c04
meshboy Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Wow looks like a great project, will definently buy this after reading all about the engines procedures and system replication. Model is also amazing!Guess i will be flying props this christmas / spring!
Goran_M Posted December 13, 2011 Author Report Posted December 13, 2011 Work is progressing nicely and quickly now. Lukasz has wrapped up the systems code and the flight model. Theo is getting close to finishing the textures, but there is still the night lighting to do.What I have so far animated on the panel and gauges is working very nicely. We're pushing for a late December finish, but it depends on any problems we may find. We're also trying to get the floats version finished at the same time as the wheel version. In the meantime, a couple of screenshots in XP9.
Hueyman Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Impressive .. So neat and clean for such vintage gauges... So we could expect an eventual release for around christmas, maybe a bit later ( early january ? )

So we could expect an eventual release for around christmas, maybe a bit later ( early january ? )Almost definitely. There are a few small things that have to be sorted out, but it's looking like lat Dec/early Jan
Ntr09 Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 One of the best (if not THE best) vintage panels I've seen in X-Plane!
meshboy Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 maybe a new screenshot of this cool airplane?
Goran_M Posted December 21, 2011 Author Report Posted December 21, 2011 Not much more to show yet. Lots of work going on lately to make things work. When I get a finalized cabin and exterior, I'll put up a few screenshots of that.I'll see if I can get a few screenshots of the overhead and center console in the next day or 2.
Hueyman Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I really want to see the exterior, never see any pics since the first Blender renders.
andyw248 Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 Question: Will you provide a radio range finder?
Goran_M Posted December 24, 2011 Author Report Posted December 24, 2011 Short answer is no. To make it work the way it's supposed to work, with modulated signals, will take a bit of work. We might put in some simple distance measuring equipment. That would take about an hour to customize it and add it, but we'll see how it pans out.
