toby23 Posted July 9, 2017 Report Posted July 9, 2017 Upon launching X-Plane, I was notified of an update to X-Plane. While processing the update, X-Plane noticed that SMP had replaced the sky textures. What is the best way to replace the default textures and then update or replace the SMP textures after patching X-Plane? Thanks, Toby File: F:\X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_clean.png File: F:\X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_foggy.png File: F:\X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_hazy.png File: F:\X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_hialt.png File: F:\X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_mount.png File: F:\X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_ocast.png File: F:\X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_snowy.png File: F:\X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_socked.png File: F:\X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_stratus.png Quote
Cameron Posted July 9, 2017 Report Posted July 9, 2017 Toby, SkyMaxx Pro will automatically take care of this at each X-Plane start. You can let the X-Plane installer replace these files without consequence. 3 Quote

This smacks of a mis-installed copy of X-Plane! Get a new download from www.X-Plane.com. The missing file is: Resources/bitmaps/skycolors/sky_colors_socked.png " I have attached the Log.txt so we can work this out. thank you in advance!!! Log.txt Quote

I’ve seen this occasionally when a hard drive sector goes kaput.... 1 Quote

I tried 4 times updating the X-Plane and every single try, I had to download specific files from the skycolor.... Even tough doing this when I run again the simulator it pops up the picture I have just attached. any other tip ??Also attached last Log.txt Log.txt Quote

I don't know if that file that says it's missing I can download from internet. Anybody knows?? Quote
sundog Posted July 6, 2020 Report Posted July 6, 2020 I think you either have some sort of disk failure going on, or you have multiple copies of X-Plane installed and you are manipulating the wrong one. 1 Quote
jweber Posted October 28, 2020 Report Posted October 28, 2020 Same happens here. Only solutions was: - Deleting the whole bitmap folder in X-Plane directory (only deleting skycolors did not help) - Update X-Plane with the installer which is recreating bitmaps - Deleting SMP Folder from plugins (otherwise the same will happen on next start, even if you deactivate SMP) - Deleting in X-Plane preferences both Windows settings prf files (otherwise the sim will hang on next start) - Restarting X-Plane (demo intro will start) and resetting what you want (windowed sim, graphical settings) - Reinstalling SMP This happens each time if you choose default sky colours in SMP. Really weird, because the "missing file" is always there. I don't think we all have a disk failure…... Quote

I don't know what you're definition of "we all" is, but there is only ONE person in this topic besides you with the issue. I'd say contrary to what you say, it's actually highly probable given the stats of users with SkyMaxx vs two reports. Quote

Anyway - as long I do not choose default skycolors in SMP everything is OK. Edited October 28, 2020 by jweber Quote
rawdmon Posted October 28, 2020 Report Posted October 28, 2020 I'm able to choose default sky color in SMP and not experience this problem, so I'm not sure what's going on with you guys. Quote
