  1. Yes, more or less because thats how it is in real as well. To take one example, the real 757 and 767 have about the same rollrates at full aileron deflection. However (if I recall correct), the 757 yoke you can turn 180 deg left/right, and the 767 only 90 deg left/right. So, the 767 will FEEL alot more sensitive than the 757... And that is offcourse the same with different joysticks, they have different deflection angles, stick hight, spring force etc. So the only thing we can really control is that for the same % of deflection, everyone will have the same rollrates and pitchrates - like the real aircraft has.
  2. No Voodoo It is called reverse engineering. We use information from many sources; Real FDR data, Performance engineering manuals on both aircraft and engine (the real engineering stuff, not regular pilot operating manuals), and many hours in the big full motion simulators testing edge of the envelope situations. Finally, we have our real 737CL pilots do quality assurance tests on the feel and numbers inside the envelope. We have also "tuned" XP's flightmodel in many areas to get where we want. So we know (and can prove) that we are extremely close inside the envelope, and very close on the edges. Together with XP's superior flightmodel, this will give you a very unique experience handflying this aircraft. And actually, it will also dramatically improve realistic operations on autopilot. Your vertical profiles on climb and descend will be very realistic, engine performance in the entire envelope etc. So the "voodoo" is a combination of having the best information available, engineers that can understand it, programmers that can code it, and pilots that can test it, and offcourse the best sim platform M
  3. For those who wonder what they look like
  4. The lights are tuned to Jan's liking
  5. We also have alot of features that nobody else have Seriously, it is not very hard to make, but at the moment we have set a list of set target functions for v1.0 and a target (internal) release date, so our focus is that list until after release. After that it's time for us to start working on those "nice to have" lists and "gaming" aspects.
  6. The CG envelope is between 48,4 - 51,3 feet from the nose. CG for ACN calculations is at 50,2 This again converted to MAC is between 4-30% and 20% So transfer this to a seatmap, and you have good start M
  7. From what I heard "the bird" FD is most common in the US and the "bars" in Europe, although there are exceptions.. Guess we could put it on the "nice to have" list as optional for later.
  8. New iMac testing...
  9. Thank you Richard, FYI, here is the ticket confirmation we received from you, that might help you track it down
  10. Starts at about 13:00.
  11. Jan is producing tutorial videos at the moment. Already a couple of hours of your favorite 737 flightinstructor Those tutorial videos alone are worth getting this aircraft in my opinion - and - they will also increase your enjoyment of the other aircraft that you might have in your hangar. To give you an idea what this might be worth.. http://www.mypilotstore.com/MyPilotStore/secp/225 Attach are a screenshot from one of these videos. (reduced image quality)
  12. Generally, the main scope of this project is creating an aircraft that is as realistic as possible in a cockpit environment and operation as seen form a REAL 737 pilot perspective. In other words, we give our real in-type pilots the final word on what goes in or not (not forum polls). Atleast for v 1.0. Other "nice to have stuff" we will consider in each case later on as optionals. But, you probably have noticed the bar is set high on what goes in or not. Further, we recommend that you fly the aircraft BEFORE you ask for these "nice to have" features, like keyboard, 3rd party FMC stuff, scrollwheel etc. This aircraft has a very different "feel" than most of what you probably are used to. Also the quality of avionics are extremely high. It needs to be experienced first.
  13. According to Airfleets.com, there are still over 1.000 active 737 classics out there, so they will be flying for years
  14. Unless you have a monopoly offcourse...
  15. Yes, you can use the real manual while you wait. We also recommend you study Jan's videos on youtube or the website. http://www.lt-vacc.org/images/mesti/Boeing%20737-300-400-500%20Operations%20Manual.pdf
  16. Thank you guy's, but there is no need for that. We mainly do this as a hobby, and this is our "baby", so our motivation for working on the aircraft will always be there. Positive and constructive comments will always motivate us ekstra though
  17. You will soon be able to put our flightmodel to the test We are planning on providing you with the information and tools you need to by yourself VERIFY how accurate our flightmodel aerodynamics and engine model are. No need to take our word for it anymore. Basically we want to educate those interested in basic aerodynamics. We put huge efforts into the flightmodel, but it's really hard for a regular user to really know. Up until now it has been really easy for a designer to throw out claims about their flightmodels. Very few have the data or knowhow to question them anyway. These are some of the claims that are out on the popular XP products website today; "..Accurate flight model, as close as it gets to real performance." "..Precise flightmodel..." "..Accurate flight model tuned by pilots.." "..Realistic flight model..." ".. you can be sure that the xxxxxx is at least 95% accurate to the real aircraft.." But, do they all hold what they promise? Probably not...! Numbers don't lie, they are not subjective, so we are also considering releasing necessary data and instructions for you to check on those aircraft as well. You have the right to know. We'll see... It's a bit like the VW fuel scandal where they claimed to have alot better numbers than what they really do and the customers have no way of knowing. But for now, focus is getting the aircraft done
  18. No worries, I'm also working on unrealistically dirty aircraft liveries with unrealistically extreme visible rivets and seams as well. Have no idea why some would want it that way, but guess it's a trend in the sim community to show off (unrealistic) detail... (fortunately fuel in XP is free and the pax don't pay to get onboard) (the MD80 livery artists did a fantastic job - best I've seen in XP - don't get me wrong) As you know, unlike most others, we made this aircraft starting on the inside (systems, aerodynamics, cockpit) and working our way out. So the exterior/cabin and textures still are not 100% done yet.
  19. Yes, two of us use Macs. I use and old iMac 3,6 Ghz i5 with 8 Mb RAM and 528k VRAM for developing. Works ok for flying, but offcourse I have to turn most of rendering options and visibility down/off. So if you want to enjoy scenery/clouds etc you need something better. Most of the shots on the website are taken with this machine.
  20. That movie has already been made and is part of the documentation/tutorial.
  21. Fear not, we will make sure the 737 stays alive for many years to come Norwegian Air Shuttle actually is one of the reasons this project came alive. Will tell you the story over a beer one day
  22. Basically and simply put, the higher aspect ratio, the higher flex. The NG has a higher AR than the classic. Especially with winglets. Winglets move the center of pressure further out on the wing which again increases flex. M
  23. Just me doing some FMC route testing at my local airport ENGM. One SID and one "point merge" arrival.
  24. We have put alot of effort and research into getting the feel and controls of the aircraft right. Pitchrates, rollrates, inertia, beta angles, induced roll, short and long term oscillations etc. are all very close to the real aircraft. Or to put in simpler words, when using our recommended joystick settings you will find that this aircraft is capable of some very precise manual flying like the real aircraft, like manual instrument CAT approaches, crosswind landings etc. Basically it feels and handles VERY close to the real aircraft and we are very proud of it. This is where you now finally really will see how X-Plane shines over the other platforms. So it is our strong advice to stick to our recommended settings!
  25. You can switch layout on the fly...
