  1. Happy customer here of the DC-3, soon to be happy customer of the Saab.
  2. I'm watching the new episode of Flying Wild Alaska right now and seeing the Era Caravan all over the place makes me want to fly this Caranado bird even more!!
  3. N411GV is the registration. http://www.flickr.com/photos/23032926@N05/6722058617/
  4. Definitely would want an Era Alaska livery for this one as well. What a great addition to X-Plane this aircraft is.
  5. This announcement made my day! Thank you thank you thank you. Bring on the biz jets!
  6. That is just stunning.
  7. I'm a member of the Yankee Air Museum and they have a flying C-47 that you can take member trips on. This particular trip was $90 to another airport about 45 miles away that has an on airport restaurant that we basically flew to for a $90 hamburger and back. During lunch and speaking with the pilots, they had asked if I had any flying experience, I replied "very little, I'm only at about 35 hours in the log book and it's been quite a while since I have flown." The co-pilot replied "well we will get you up front for a little bit on the way back." I thought he maybe was inviting me into the cockpit while in flight to see the view from up there. Well turns out, they took off, got the aircraft up to 2,500ft and the next thing I know, the co-pilot walks back to me, points and yells "Get up here!" I guess he wasn't joking, he said "put on the headset and have a seat." After getting situation and comfortable, did a quick instrument scan to locate the essentials.. The pilot looked over and said the most beautiful words I have ever heard... "She's all yours..." He put his hands in his lap and feet on the floor. I first gingerly held onto the yoke with an ever slight touch... Soon after we hit an updraft and I realized that gingerly was not working out.. I had to seriously manhandle it!! The controls were extremely heavy, like weight lifting heavy.. I put her through a series of turns to keep following the Garmin 530's course (I know I know.. cheating) and I must say, she flew very gracefully and as it was a chore to fly, it was real flying. I'll never forget looking down over my right shoulder and seeing that radial spinning right outside my open window. In a blink of an eye my 10 minutes or so was over and we were getting close to bravo air space and the co-pilot took his seat back.
  8. I would like to thank LES for giving me some $39.95 simulator time in a DC-3 as I never ever ever thought that months later, I would actually put it to use and get some time behind the yoke of one of these beautiful aircraft!
  9. Thank you very much for the update Tom. I agree with your decision, the prop lock feature will not be one that I would miss for this update. As you mentioned, I get joy out of flying the aircraft, not starting it and shutting it down. I know that I'm not alone when I say I'm too lazy and I jump into X-Plane with "engines running" so I can get to the air faster.
  10. Exciting to see this one coming along, great work.
  11. DAYUM!
  12. Soooooooo... what your saying is it won't be done tomorrow?
  13. They are just jealous because this aircraft will kick the crap out of their CLS model
  14. Very awesome, nice to hear something about this classic. Keep up the good work!
  15. So I came up with an idea to use with this excellent new DC-3. If your looking for a tour, try stoping at every Aerosoft freeware airport available in Europe for XP10. I did not bother creating waypoints between each leg, you can do that as your own preference as there are multiple VOR's and NDB's available, it seems the coverage in Europe is quite extensive. I created this route to most efficiently go from one airport to the next starting in the most northern airport, Glasgow and ending in the most southern airport, Faro. The longest leg is 292.5 nautical miles and the shortest leg is 18.69 nautical miles. The total direct route length is 2932.34 nautical miles. The route is as follows: EIDW EGBB EGLL EGSS EGKK LFPO LFPG EBBR EDDK EDLP EDDV EDDH EDDT EDDF EDDS EDDM LSGG LFMN LEBL LEMD LPFR
  16. I have been leaning by the means of what the original poster had mentioned. As you climb, your manifold pressure and RPMs begin to drop and I will ease back on the mixture slightly until there is an increase in the RPM's and keep cross checking this until at cruise. Once at cruise, I will slowly ease back the mixture until the engines begin to run rough and then advance the mixture about 10% and leave it until it's time to descend. It works for me and I have no problem with it.
  17. Right off the bat about an hour into this aircraft I had a NAV/COM1 failure that resulted in this. A reset of the errors fixed the issue.
  18. Do I win a prize!!? Okay so that makes sense then. Today in my flights just learning the aircraft and familiarizing myself with the instruments I had noticed that my Inverter was off, the second I would toggle it to the "ON" position the autopilot would cut out. I was more thinking that I did something wrong in how the systems were tied although the manual says to keep the Inverter on. I had just returned it to the "OFF" position and disregarded it as a problem. I should had mentioned something but wasn't educated enough in it to feel confident to do so.
  19. Turn the Inverter off and then try it... I noticed when I have the autopilot on and I turn the Inverter on it cuts off the autopilot.. Why? I don't know but it's worth a try.
  20. Disregard, I restarted X-Plane and the ADF needles started functioning properly. I have no idea what the issue was but it's gone now!
  21. Am I doing something wrong or is it not modeled yet? I can't get the ADF needle to come alive on any NDB that I tune on either ADF1 or ADF2 sides. It's not a matter of out of range or terrain obstructions, I'm trying to tune into NDBs for approaches into the airport I would be attempting to land at so they are all relatively within 10nm of my location. (XP10.05r1 OS X)
  22. Excellent work! I just finished getting a feel for how she flies and I must say, it is very pleasing. Thank you to everyone involved in making this aircraft.
  23. Probably the second Moosday in Moovember...
  24. I got so excited by those pictures I frantically jammed my credit card in my disk drive attempting to purchase this aircraft...
  25. I think that is a bug that everyone has including myself. Hopefully they are in the works for a fix.
