I've been flying the FlyJSim 737-200 navaid to navaid and it is enjoyable to say the least. Can't see much fun in a FMS and just sitting there watching the screen. Did use the Civa INS a couple of times and that is about as computerized as I would want to go, occasionally. Sent from my GT-P5210 using Tapatalk

If they release the DC-6 that would be the ultimate. Four big noisy radial engines that were specifically developed to convert avgas into noise. The only onboard computer is the one in the pilot's, or navigator's, pocket and its all navaid to navaid or dead recking navigation. What more could one ask for.

[SOLVED] Anyone else get stuck on the ground?
iandiss replied to carthorse's topic in Douglas DC-3 (no longer in use)
Hi Goran, You got your post in while I was typing mine. I don't know if you want to look at the settings I am using but as I said they work for my type of flying. Regards -
[SOLVED] Anyone else get stuck on the ground?
iandiss replied to carthorse's topic in Douglas DC-3 (no longer in use)
Have the same problem. I changed the landing gear coefficients using plane maker/Standard/Landing Gear/Gear Data/Landing Gear Friction coefficients to 0.025 and 0.750 and this works perfectly for me. It still takes a bit of power to get moving, but by using throttle, brakes and rudder pedals it is OK and I can reduce power once the aircraft moves. I have no problems with the new settings on paved aprons and runways. I know playing with settings is frowned upon but as I do most of my flying in and out of grass and gravel strips in the Yukon and Alaska it makes a brilliant but unusable aircraft one of my favorites. Hope this may be of some help. -
Douglas DC-3 Version 1.3 Update Released!
iandiss replied to Cameron's topic in Douglas DC-3 (no longer in use)
You are not the only one. I have the same problem. If you are running Python scripts there is QNH script. This will change the QNH in the DC-3. -
Since Skymaxx Pro installed a new version of gizmo I have had a problem loading the DC-3. Once the aircraft loads my computer freezes and I get the program not responding error, followed by the screen going blank and finally after a few seconds the aircraft appears displaying a a text box with portion of the attached gizmo.log. Normally lines 209 to about 218 GizmoLog.txt

Hi Cameron, That sounds like an interesting little program. Are you going to put it in the library for us non-programming types.

Looks great so far. I follow the progress but just don't say much. I am waiting for the finished product to add to my hangar of "twins" Keep up good work.

[Closed] DC3 update - compass info please
iandiss replied to rjsagel's topic in Douglas DC-3 (no longer in use)
Hi Cameron, I know you are working hard on the SAAB, and I appreciate your efforts on getting it up to perfection. Unfortunately I need a DC-3 fix, turbines just don't compare with the sound of a radial. So to be a bl**dy pest, which I have a doctorate in, any time frame for compass/sperry fix. Don't be to hard on me with your reply Thanks -
Sorry about the "A340". I've done 5 or 6 flights today without any real issues so I think it must have been pilot error. I've been using flight simulators since the original MSFS but this aircraft tops anything I have flown. You actually do have to read the manual and then follow up with trial and error flights to work out the niceties that a training pilot would pass on.. This aircraft is mind blowing and has set the benchmark for anything else that is under development.

Log is attached this time. Forgot to click on the "Attach this file" button Log.txt

I haven't actually got the aircraft to cruise level yet but some of this is probably me. This flight was much the same but this time it crashed X-plane. Log is attached Log.txt

Having exactly the same problem with my saitek throttle quadrants.

Douglas DC-3 Version 1.2 Update Released!
iandiss replied to Cameron's topic in Douglas DC-3 (no longer in use)
Hi Goran, Tried to taxy then take off on both gravel and grass but the old beast would not move an inch. Any ideas on what could cause this. (Brakes were off) -
I'll second that. Waiting for the DC 3 upgrade is the only reason I keep a 32bit version of x-plane alive.

When I was with ATC we used to call it the slowtation. The only aircraft to have bird strikes from behind.

PMDG officially developing for X-Plane

A DC6 would be awesome. Multi radial engines and NO FMS. I just want a darn DC-6 as well. -
Autopilot fix or mod for next version?
iandiss replied to Paraffin's topic in Douglas DC-3 (no longer in use)
Hi Goran, A wing leveller button would spoil the panel and is really unnecessary. I have assigned "W" to Auto pilot wing leveller, "H" to autopilot heading hold and "A" to autopilot altitude hold. This is easily done via the keyboard menu in joystick settings in x-plane. Thanks for the DC-3 Dissy -
Hi Andreas, Looks like a very helpful tool. Could you please provide installation instructions in English as the read-me in the zip file is in German. thanks
-
If you don't have Airtrack you can achieve the same using key commands. I have assigned "A" to auto pilot altitude hold, "H" to autopilot heading hold and "I" to autopilot approach mode. "I" is a bit of a have faith option as you get no instrument indications that you are on the GS and Loc, but it does work. I haven't worried about the NAV function as I prefer to use the heading mode of the autopilot dissy

Thanks Jim that works fine.

Thanks Jim. How do I change the nominal value in planemaker Ian
-
Hi Jim Just purchased the Corvalis and I am running it in Ver 10.10r1. The oil pressure goes straight to the maximum on the guage and the appropriate warning is displayed. This is a known problem as the later versions treat the nominal values as the maximum. I have been able to change this easily in other aircraft using planemaker and editing the limit values. Is it possible to do this with the corvalis and if so what values do I need to change under digital/oil p? I also use the saitek proflight yoke and rudder pedals but the when they are moved the joystick and pedals in the cockpit do not move. The relevant control surfaces do move so it is just a visual thing. Are the rudder pedals, toe brakes and joystick animated? Great little aircraft. dissy

When I first installed the CRJ200 I had no issues. The second and subsequent loads gave me the following problems as per the attached screen shot and log file. I've reinstalled it 3 times. Winzip will not extract the zip file, nor will zipeg, but Winnc seems to have no problems. What am I doing wrong. I have followed the procedures in the tutorial. Dissy Log.txt Log.txt
