Got a final response from Austin. He confirmed it is definitely ice. My suggestion, stay away from clouds in temperatures that promote ice build up. Keeping in mind, Icing can happen in above 0°C temperatures...if there is enough humidity while flying through cloud.

"Take it on the chin" basically means... to be brave and not to complain when bad things happen to you or when people criticize you

I'll just say something. Zroman, you're not the only one who has been banned from the org. Nor are you the only one to be on the moderators receiving end. Venting about it in a blog will not make anyone from the org unban you. It will only cause more angst. Sometimes it's best just to let things go and take it on the chin.

Glen I ran a few tests after getting a reply from Austin and I would like to know if you had roughly the same settings. This was tested with the default King Air to eliminate whether or not it's an add on issue or an x plane issue. From what I can see, flying through clouds at a low enough temperature, will cause a lot of ice build up and the engines will lose power. Took this screenshot a few seconds before my engines died. Full power and flying almost straight and level. Note the ice output in the top left of the screen. Edit: Further correspondence is happening on this issue. I'll post an update on this as soon as I have it.

Thanks for that, Glen! I just filed a bug report. Should get fixed soon.

You MIGHT have warnings turned off. Turn them back on under "operations and warnings" and see if you get a carb ice warning. I'm only guessing but you may have Carb icing. The Carb heat levers are on the center column under the throttle console. I have just taken it for a small test flight to try and duplicate what is happening but I got no engine problems. Granted, I was over Hawaii, that's why I think it was carb icing.

Could you give me the flying conditions you were in. As much detail as possible. There are a couple of gauge issues that I have actually fixed a couple of weeks ago, but there are still 2 or 3 other issues that are being a bit stubborn. Also, just a shot in the dark, but was your mixture set correctly? If you're at a reasonably high altitude, and air pressure is lower than normal, having a Full Rich mixture setting will drop the engines power. In some cases, it will also stall the engines.

Goran_M replied to Cameron's topic in Douglas DC-3 - Released!
Spent the day flying it in XP10 and making flight model refinements. Can confirm it flies beautifully. No problems whatsoever. Even the framerates (90fps) are more than acceptable with this latest update -

Yes. When 10 is considered stable, and completely out of beta, it will be made available (freely) for that as well. -

Few more night lighting screen grabs... We did the standard reflective glass at first, but both Theo and I agreed it doesn't work on an old DC-3. I gave Theo a suggestion but he came up with his own idea. We're getting there. A few more issues to sort out and refinements to...refine. -
Could have landed the float version of the DC-3 on the river next to the reactor. Much safer in X Plane.

Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing I can do atm to make it work properly. I have been working on what can be worked on. Rest assured, it'll be ready soon after 10 is considered stable.

My room is my man cave! Cheers, bud!

ha, no insulation in the roof, no heating, no cooling, and a solid concrete floor

It's either the room I have, or the garage. Everything else is hers. Apparently, I have no taste in decorating.

I wanted the bigger room in the house but the wife wouldn't have any of it.

Yes. Theo will get a paintkit up soon after he finishes the liveries. -

We have a shortlist of liveries. What Theo is working on so far, besides Duggy, is Icelandair, Buffalo Airways, Rosinenbomber and Swedair. They are pretty much done, but, with the exception of Duggy, we have to grunge them up a little. As they stand now, they are way too clean. And yes, it is the C1 model of the Sperry. That has more code in it than anything else Theo coded. -

It'll have most procedures simulated. Although it's only a DC-3 so there are not many systems needing plug ins. But yes, we did add code to enhance the flight model and drive a few systems. Yes. -

Wow, kinda taken aback with the response, guys! It's definitely very much appreciated by both Theo and myself! This one really wore us out in a few ways. We're glad to finally see the tail end of the creation of it. To answer this question, it will only have one interior for now. One cabin and one cockpit. This aircraft has really exhausted us in a few different ways. Hard to think so...not like it's a complex airliner...but it was definitely a job that we learned a lot from. We tried many different new things on this. Things that haven't been done before. Some of it worked and some of it didn't. If we went the normal route in making it, we would have finished it about a month or two ago. An example is the overhead radio panel. I modelled a complete overhead with radios. I had to dump that because it wasn't easy to read the displays. So I had to model a new one. That was one of the "small" things. There was something else we tried that took about 6 weeks to finish, and after it was done, we had to dump that as well because it just didn't look right. What we have for now in this package is a wheel version and a float version. I've actually been having a little too much fun with the float version. We'll almost definitely be making a cargo and military version some time in the next few weeks/months. For now, it's just the one cockpit and the one cabin. Once it's out, we'll make an announcement on what we have planned. We're also rolling straight into the Saab 340 and getting that done asap. I think that one is a little overdue and we really want that finished. I have also been making improvements to the Duchess and Sundowner over the last month. Some major improvements. And that will also continue in the next few weeks. -
It will DEFINITELY be out before 12-21-2012 (End of the Mayan Calender). lol Valentin...SOON. That's all I can say. We're trying to figure out why 2 or 3 things don't work like we want them to. They "work", but not EXACTLY how we want them to.
