  1. I was thinking about replacing my Macbook for an Imac. I have decided against it because while it may run x-plane better than most laptops, it is still inferior to most good PC's you can get for almost the same price.
  2. The scenery does impact your FPS alot when you have the scenery WITH the static aircraft. But if you lower your redering settings a bit, drop the visivilty to below 10 miles and you have a relativly fast computer, it should run fairly well.
  3. Oops, ist mir garnicht aufgefallen. : Ziemlich peinlich...aber es war ein langer Tag gewesen. Wie auch immer, das ist keine Ausrede - tut mir wirklich leid . Now how do I change the topic title??
  4. http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local/ventura_county&id=8139154 Thank god everyone made it out alive! Will be interesting to see what the cause was... FlorianR
  5. After some more research, I learned that this airport actually doesn't have runway lighting. Shouldn't be hard to fix though. Now if only we could find someone that wants to be the ATC on Vatsim for this airport .
  6. Finally did my first flight to ncc1701e's newly released Chitra, Pakistan scenery package . I flew in from the south, IFR rules (there are no IFR approaches for this airport), with ATGCBS's Fokker F-27 (http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=11933). The visual flying through the mountains was a first for me, since I have ever only flown into big airports with ILS approaches. Nevertheless, it was extremely fun, and the panorama was marvelous too; high mountain peaks as far as you could see. After descending into the valleys of the Himalayas (or at least that's what I think those mountain are ), and maneuvering through the craggy hills, I turned left around the face of a cliff, and WOW! In front of me lay the entire scenery: beautiful buildings, amazing animations, trees, airplanes sitting on the apron, and much more. The landing reminded me a lot of the Kai Tak landing, where you turn right, and there's the runway. Anyways, this landing was one of the most scenic and exciting landings I have done in a long time, and the author of the scenery deserves round of applause! Thanks and Congrats mate ! some pics:
  7. ahh, found it at the .org. looks very good
  8. sorry, but where?
  9. looks very nice! will this be pay- or freeware?
  10. Joke (according to dictionary.com) - Something said or done to evoke laughter or amusement, Something not to be taken seriously really, were you offended by it?

Try posting this in the X-Scenery forum, or contact Cameron on the X-Avitation website. Im pretty sure he checks his e-mails every two minutes .
  13. I own it, but rarely fly it. The textures are bland, with no dirt or grunge. The cockpit and interior look ok, but nothing compared to screenshots of upcoming XA planes. The cockpit feels more like a 3d room with most knobs, switches, and buttons 2d. On the other hand, the exterior model looks fairly good, and as far as I could tell, the performance is pretty good. If you want to buy it or not is really your choice; I just bought it to have a 787 .
  14. Try removing all scenery folders.
  15. Well, finally complete my first VATSIM flight. Took off from Cleveland INTL. and flew to CYYZ Toronto. Everything worked really well, communication was good all the way from Ground the Departure. Then, when lining up for Runway 05 in CAT II conditions, i got the flap over-speed warning and crashed about 1 NM form the runway. Well, I guess you learn from your mistakes. >
  16. thanks, I figured it out now. Forgot to hit the PPT button
  17. Thanks for the help so far. Yes, i checked on vatview.com to see what controllers were online, and then double checked again using the "shows who's online" tab. Because it was my first flight, I made sure I had Delivery, Ground, Tower, Departure, ATIS, etc. all online. I will try again tonight. Cheers!
  18. Hey, so today I decided "enough of flying by myself, I'm going to join a virtual airline and fly online". So i signed up at Zon Executive, create a Vatsim account, and connected to Vatsim. Everything worked fine: I connected successfully, I send my flightplan, and got my Eadt 738 ready for action. I set up the correct COM1 frequency to contact the Delivery controller, and gave him my information. However, at the three different airports I tried, I never got a response back. From ANY ATC. So I checked my Audio Setup, and everything seemed fine. (I am using PX-21 Turtlebeach Headsets). I even did the voice test, and passed that too. Does anyone have any idea why they aren't responding or can't hear me. Thanks (I'm tired of talking to myself:D) Cheers, FlorianR
  19. To embed the video, click on the youtube tab and insert the part of the link that follows the equal sign after watch.
  20. looks awesome. I was actually born in Berlin
  21. Sounds awesome. Not sure if this is to early to ask, but what is the estimated price range for both planes. Also, will both the -700 and the A320 be release in 4-6 weeks or just one of them? Thanks
  22. uncheck the box in the menu where it says "start each flight with engines running".
  23. Thanks for the replies. I am still saving for this this, and hope to buy it early this fall- hopefully after v10 has been released. I also plan to keep my macbook and only use the desktop computer for X-plane. Since I am going to spend a lot of money anyways, I though I'd rather go for the best and spend an extra 1K instead of buying some cheap crap that doesn't last 2 days. Whats some of the best stuff out there?
  24. I am planning on getting a new computer. My MacBook Pro simply wont be able to handle the ever-increasing detail in upcoming planes and sceneries. Below is a list of several computer is have looked at and their price/specs. Some advice and telling me what computer you run X-plane on would be greatly appreciated .
