  1. My post was an observation. It is not and was not directed at anyone or any particular product. It is an observation about the general expectation of people when they're online dealing with software. We are already working to improve the product in this thread (SkyMAXX Pro) and have been since the day it was released. As a side note; I have seen storms. I have seen ugly clouds. I have seen pretty clouds. I have seen clouds better than anything I've ever seen in X-Plane since 2005.
  2. Had another look... let X-Plane run for a while all by itself with SkyMAXX Pro activated and running. Definite leak of about 20 megs every 3 minutes or about 400 megs an hour. I can't understand why your leak is so aggressive but I have some good leads on how to pursue what I can find. Thank you very much for your patience thus far, hopefully we can resolve this with a patch soon.
  3. There's a weird disconnect between the physical world and the real world. In the real world, you make a decision to pay your money based on exactly what you get in that moment. Not a bit more. EVERYTHING more costs extra. All service, all addons, all upgrades. EVERYTHING costs more. In the digital world, people have this insane expectation of ridiculously low pricing and bend-over-backwards to send ourselves broke service with free upgrades, free extras, free addons. You already payed your money based on what was offered at the time you decided to pay your money. Anything more beyond bug fixes for things we could not forsee is icing on the cake, we are in no way obligated to provide you with endless free extras, no matter what the price that was asked. Perhaps it's because the internet has reduced the playing field to the point where a market-stall hand crafted goods merchant appears to be basically the same thing as a multi million dollar company, it all boils down to a website at the moment. Look deeper.
  4. Do you have any 3D work you can show us or are you just assuming that it's this easy?
  5. Unfortunately no significant progress. I did a heap of development work using Gizmo during the last week or so; open for hours at a time with multiple script-reboots. I had SkyMAXX installed, activated and rendering some nice clouds effects. I saw a maximum ram usage of 3.89 gb..... I don't consider this item closed, but I don't really have anything solid to chase down either. I've just done a quick review of your Log.txt file in the first post of the thread. You have SASL installed incorrectly. Delete the folder: E:\AAA_Laminar/X-Plane 10/Resources/plugins/sasl/ SASL is an aircraft-specific plugin and should only ever be installed or used when it is inside X-Plane/Aircraft/ProductFolder/plugins/ I expect this will resolve your fault. Please let us know, the issue is being monitored..
  6. removed.
  7. So even though you're fully aware that it's XSB crashing your startup you come in here and start unfounded complaints. Thanks.
  8. Oh look, another thread with absolutely no useful data in it.
  9. What happens when you have a lake near an ocean? What happens if it's a very large lake that's more than capable of picking up chop on the surface... All water surfaces reflect. Usually the larger water bodies have enough wave action to scatter but even the middle of the ocean will become perfectly glassy on some days.
  10. ...move your mouse. The toolbar only shows up when your cursor is in a ~16 pixel wide column at the right side of your screen. There are other payware products out there where these sorts of toolbar items are permanently on the screen regardless of mouse location and no one complains.
  11. Probably not. The NOAA plugin uses more data than a simple braindead METAR file can provide.
  12. Correct. The leak I've seen is quite slow... this thread is the only mention of it I've seen... it's strange that it creates such a strong problem for "bunchy".
  13. I did some quick investigating on My Mac last night and it looks like I can see a slow memory leak... Like, 1 megabyte every 5 minutes or so..... slow, but definitely something to check on. Sorry for letting this one slip through. I will investigate further and keep the thread updated.
  14. (that's one of the nicest web sites I've seen in a long long time...)
  15. I would suggest annotated(use YouTube, itll take 5 minutes to add some) video evidence of effects people are trying to describe.
  16. Could also be caused by XSquawkbox or X-IVAP as both of these plugins will also attempt to set the weather.
  17. Good to hear you have a working solution. At the end of the day it's the responsibility of the company that makes our installer tech'. We are at their mercy over this one. As "Very Large Displays" become more common they will doubtless make the upgrade so that their layout does not beak. Currently this is a rarely encountered problem for us so I'm guessing their feedback level is quite low. Thanks for letting us know you got this fixed.
  18. DO NOT RELOAD PLUGINS DURING SIM OPERATIONS This functionality is provided as a developer tool only and is KNOWN to cause multiple issues. You are beyound the boundary of technical support and normal ops. No support will be provided for any product or plugin when the user chooses to use a developer tool to reload the plugins in this manner.
  19. If you have a very large screen resolution and have increased the detault windows font size/scaling factors then it might be causing conflict with the installer layout. If applicable, reset the windows fonts to default size, run the installer..........
  20. For the same reason that the default FSX aircraft are not of the same standard as a PMDG product. Laminar focuses on the flight dynamics and image generator, they do not focus on a specific flight manual and system simulation. Default aircraft are good enough to let you practice basic airmanship. These are general simulators that let you explore a very wide variety of aircraft. A complete systems simulation like the Saab takes years and thousands of lines of custom code to develop.
  21. Good to hear you're flying again, enjoy!
  22. Gizmo tries to improve its error finding and reporting features with each release. As such, the 404 warnings were not present when the Saab 1.0 was released. The 404 sound warnings are normal, the cause has been located. It does not affect final functionality in any way. A future patch will resolve the 404 sound warnings. edit: added 2nd sentence about Saab 1.0

  24. When it's ready, and not a moment before. Dating things is a dated practice.
  25. Don't let the zenophobes at the org get you down. They have a seriously misplaced sense of value. The most valuable thing the org has is NOT it's advertising potential. The most valuable thing is BY FAR the user base that built the site. The admins have put very little of value into it.
