VIRTUAL AVIONICS - MCP 737-R with IXEG 737?
dornier replied to dornier's topic in Hardware/Cockpit Dev
Hi, Yes, from what I can see, all of the MCP's available require support from the developers. Goflight's MCP has third party software, but I think their MCP is dated now. I almost purchased one, but without backlighting and realistic knobs, Virtual Avionics and possibly CPflight are my options now. I wish they all would work with any aircraft, but I guess it's too much to ask from hardware today. I just need one to work with IXEG's 737, PMDG 737 NGX and 777, Aerowinx PSX 10, and any Airbus (Airbus Extended or X, Jardesign's Airbus, etc) I choose to fly. Sounds like a tall order for the current MCP options. Thanks, George -
Hi, Has anyone tried the virtual avionics MCP 737-R with IXEG 737? I see Virtual Avionics updated their software to include X-plane and IXEG 737. How does it work with IXEG 737? Any functions that don't work with it? What's your experience using it with IXEG? Thanks, George

Goflight MCP Pro compatible with IXEG 737?
dornier replied to dornier's topic in Hardware/Cockpit Dev
Thanks for the informative and quick reply. Now I have to buy one! -
Hi, Does anyone know if the GoFlight MCP Pro works with IXEG 737? If so, what would I need to make it work? Software? Thanks, George

I'm looking forward to trying Pilotedge soon. I wish I had tools like this over 35 years ago when I was learning how to fly. Beats reading a book anytime!

Thanks.

Just wanted to say that flying the IXEG 737 using VATSIM really makes you feel like you're really flying the line! What an experience, it's almost like really flying. If you're an aspiring pilot, student, or real pilot, VATSIM and the IXEG 737 combination is a real winner. One of these days I'll try Pilotedge, but for now VATSIM is great.

Hi, It it me or does the EGT pointer sometimes disappear? I can't put my finger on it, but either it's more noticeable at night or maybe at a different sitting view position. Thanks, George P.S. I can't say it enough, but this is a fantastic product. Best simulation for X-Plane, period!

Hi, I accomplished a flight from KELP to KABQ. FMC flight plan was LATVE2.CME.LZZRD3, PILLA transition. The cruise altitude was FL300 and once I crossed CME vor, I placed 10000 into the MCP altitude window. I was on path and everything looked great until I crossed MKYON intersection. Upon crossing MKYON, the path fully deflected high and it showed that I was off by 15000' (high on the path). It was obvious early on that the predicted T/D was not accurate. As a matter of fact, I've noticed on several flights that the T/D is passed the airport. I don't know if this part of the prediction problem, but I've noticed that when I pull up an approach, there tends to be 0 (zeros) for the missed approach altitudes. I think I've also seen zeros on some arrivals, but I need to check on that again. Hope this helps, George

Just flew from KJAC to KLAS and it worked great! Thanks.

I just figured it out. If you look at the active waypoint in the FMC, the course is reversed. Hopefully todays hotfix will fix this issue.

If it helps, I got the console to open up with errors during climb out of KSDF. GizmoLog.txt

Hi everyone, Is there a way to reset the MCP? Right now, if I select cold and dark or turn around, the MCP displays .0 for airspeed, 096 for heading, and 3000 for altitude upon power up with a ground cart or APU. Is this normal behavior? I didn't notice this with 1.0.5. Thanks, George

Hi, Thanks for the update, but I'm having some issues. The console window is popping with an error while the flaps are extending on the ground. How can I share the error messages popping up in the console? Thanks, George

Ok, thanks.

Hi, How to do I assign the APU start switch to a joystick switch? I can't find an APU switch option under IXEG custom commands or even x-plane. Thanks, George

Just out of curiosity, does the 737-300 allow for speed intervention while in VNAV during a descent or non-ILS approach? Thanks, George

Hi, I'd like to vote yes for mouse scroll wheel support. Thanks, George

Hi Jan, If it helps, the classic 757, 757/767 Pegasus, and 757/767 PIP versions of the FMC always allow for VNAV operation with a discontinuity. It's normal practice to leave the discontinuity between the arrival (assuming no STAR transition for the approach) and the approach since ATC normally vectors you for an approach. When the controller starts to vector you for the approach, it's common to INTC LEG to the most appropriate fix on the approach. In either case, I would assume that the 737 would work the same as the 757/767 family. Thanks, George

FMS and autoflight questions
dornier replied to dornier's topic in 737-300 Aircraft Systems and Operation
I was able to enter the altitude restriction with no problems last night, thanks . -
Hi Morten, Does the real 737 FMC inhibit VNAV if there's a discontinuity in the route? I.E., the normal discon between the approach and arrival. Curious since that's how IXEG has it modeled. Thanks, George

FMS and autoflight questions
dornier replied to dornier's topic in 737-300 Aircraft Systems and Operation
Update, LNAV has problems. LNAV is only capturing the active waypoint after takeoff. Once I'm on a route and choose to proceed direct to a different fix and select LNAV, LNAV has the aircraft turn left away from the magenta line. I even tried multiple times proceeding direct to the same fix, but the aircraft tends to turn left away from the magenta line. I made sure I was on Legs page 1 and the active waypoint was correct. As a side note, I'm using X-Life. Are there any know issues with IXEG 737 and X-Life? Thanks, George
