This is about the easiest describer of fillrate i can find, maybe help some reading https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fillrate gcharrie, I have 4gb vram on my R9 290x, i can run GpuZ whilst in the game (i mean it's in the game screen, so easy to check) My Gpu Usage very rarely goes over 1100 (max for my oc is 1264) I know like a lot you'd think it would max at 1264 but nope Now my Vram usage varies obviously Now you have to imagine not only is your gpu-core taking some strain, also the vram on it is too, couple this with varying x-plane fluctuations eg: varying cloud details varying airports/road details and varying terrain details etc etc, this is one hell of a mix of usage that can seem to point at one thing but actually it's a combination of several or many Since 1995 i've upgraded my cpu and gpu generally as each new tier came out, i stopped that mallarkey circa 2009, i thought, wth am i doing spending so much for so seemingly little gain, now i really pick n choose what i spend my money on, especially now not being in a position to just go off on a spending spree whenever i felt like it lol (ahh the good old days) To test from one end of the spectrum to another .......... X-Plane 10 settings, drop the whole lot down to minimum, try and have fun messing with SMP Do the opposite, max X-Plane as far as you can and drop SMP Now you have your two ends so to speak, decide what you can live with missing/losing from the X-Plane settings, then move on to SMP, have fun fiddling n tuning It's purely a case in my instance of finding what i can suffer via my eyes against what my rig can do at this moment in time, i am hoping another 3wks and i'll have a new gpu, then i'll crank my settings up some more, though i can't complain at all about my aging gpu, damn took everything i've threw at it I remember paying over 400 sterling, i think it was 425 sterling for a GTS2 32mb vram card back in the day !! Granted this was from my local pc shop and not an online retailer lol Best was, i was addicted to aces-high then, a friend online had the 64mnb version, yet mine clocked better and i got better fps !!! go figure lmao What i'm getting at is, i really have to count each penny at the moment, my love for eye-candy in games/sims, and now getting back mainly into flight simming has made me realise i needed to move on hardware-wise if i wanted to see what i wanted to see, and it was going to make me put my hand in my pocket (ok, pocket was empty hehe, but i save from here n there) With what we've got rig-wise, we can only do what the rigs can manage to do, it's no good expecting to get clouds n roads as far as the eye can see on the longest X-Plane settings, A : the engine just isn't setup for that yet and (i mean even on max draw the roads don't go on forever etc) B : still we have no GPU to max (check for x-plane 10 on say a gtx 1080) The hardware is getting there though, but still no cigar as of yet As a guy on YT says, settings are subjective, some look fine for one user, and yet another user will find them carp Have Fun Tony

John, I might of misread/mis-absorbed but i think i came across a post that mentioned clicking another option first (not flying at the mo so can't rem the wording) Then i think clicking back to Always For my crash in x-plane, i think i redid smp and rwc (i'm on very strong tramadol painkillers at the moment and honest they really numb my thinking ) I'll fire up the sim and also check if i had to remove a plugin Tony Edit : Checked plugins, non removed, so my crash was sorted by reinstall of both, but i hadn't run smp+rwc+noaa for a while as i was tidying up my sceneries and plugins Edit #2 : I had removed plugin Auto Gate 1.71 Again, i can't remember if it was deffo before my crash lol Edit #3 : John, start from page 1 on this thread, read down some, maybe your answer's in the info some guys give

Hiya, A friend from Argentina is in the same boat I offered him my old motherboard/cpu/ram/psu if he paid the postage, even then with customs/tax it was stupid for him Also i think Argentina may have a deal with your country of Brazil, something to do with electronic goods etc, thus making it almost impossible to buy stuff other than from the two countries ? The part about making for me at least settings/options is great, as i say i just drop down from say high to medium and carry on Almost at a point where i can get a gpu now money-wise so things can only get better i guess Have Fun Tony ps : Another thing i have done from windose 98 days is, really check background items, apps as windose 10 likes to call em nowadays lol, these can consume cpu processing, maybe not massive in the scheme of things but hey, every little helps hehe If you're running W10 or others reading are, please google, and look to turn stuff off that's not needed for you, as M$ in their wisdom think we're all complete morons and slaps about all they can running right from the off for us (ok, at times i do slip into moron mode lol) pps : As you may of guessed i now run W10 (pro x64) I find it a great OS, just kill crud off running in the background, especially Cortana if you can live without it (very simple, google, the trick is to have fast reflexes as you have to rename her folder ) Tony

Captain, I've not long upgraded from a 920DO to a 5820k setup, still using my R9 290x until i've a bit more in my coffers for maybe a 1080 I know overclocking is not for everyone, and some are scared of it, but, if you haven't already done so, a DO version especially can go pretty easy to 4ghz without breaking a sweat (mine was 4.5 under water solidly almost 24/7, she now lays in a box with all my previous cpu's/gpu's etc) Maybe something to consider, especially as so much of x-plane 10 is using the cpu processing power If you would like to oc and see the difference there's plenty of info out there If you want a 1on1 about it i'd be glad to help (obviously i have no clue about your oc'ing pov) The same goes for your 970, never had one but again, even a moderate oc on a gpu can bring a bit to the x-plane 10 table (so to speak) Tony

H2o cooled (won the silicon lottery) 32gb DDR4 3200 at 3200 (4x8gb sticks) R9 290x at 1264/1354 ... H2o cooled (darn good overclock from stock ) 1000w EVGA Psu 128gb SSD (OS) 500gb SSD (x-plane 10) 2tb 7200 disk 500gb 7200 disk Logitech G15 (orange) KB (still kickin ass) Logitech 518mx gaming mouse (again, still kickin ass) Thrustmaster cheap hotas (after gpu upgrade i want a warthog i think) All off a very cheap at the time, 27" lcd 60hz mon (DGM was the make) (i dream of a larger one, but that's way down my upgrade list unless she dies on me lol) And lastly, this item has made sims/gaming so much better as i'm over 70% deaf now (industrial hearing damage) ...... HyperX Cloud 2, 7.1 headset, with this i hear things i never knew existed previously in sims/games !!! Hiya's, Please, has any kind soul got a copy of auto gate 1.6, it's replaced by the 1.70/1.71 I just cannot find a 1.6 download for love nor money The latter versions don't work for me, and i removed/deleted 1.6 without thinking before finding out i was fubared Dohh !! Cheers Tony
