Release Date Announcement - Real Weather Connector!
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Real Weather Connector - Released!
As has already been indicated, the NOAA plugins days are basically numbered. As soon as 10.5 rolls around there's not going to be much a need (and there isn't one if you live in the USA or do your flying there already in 10.45). That said, it's safe to say we have a workaround in the interim till 10.5 is out. You'll be just fine.- 74 replies

Release Date Announcement - Real Weather Connector!

I personally don't know the answer to this, which is why no answer has come from me. Frank would be the one to best know as a programmer, so I have to deflect this one to him whenever he gets around to it.- 74 replies

Definitely confident we have no memory leaks. Not only many times in past, but especially today we spent hours with diagnostics turned on in builds of SkyMaxx Pro v3.1, as well profilers. We can easily rule this one out. The resource information from SkyMaxx Pro's readings will show you complete computer stats. If you're running other apps, building up a cache, etc, all of this is going to effect the bottom line of this number. We do have some changes in the works for a new version update, but I am certainly confident with my above statement.

I have not personally tested this one, but I can give it a go. Is this payware or freeware? I don't have a lot of time to research it right this second.- 74 replies

That has more potential to do harm than good from a brand/marketing perspective. We're going to have to continue to listen to customers to find the happy medium on a deal like this. Cramming the UI with more options definitely isn't the answer!
-
I don't believe that for a second. If you purchased a computer from someone and they format the computer prior to giving it to you (like any logical person would do), then you would have a different machine ID. The bottom line is you were sharing/stealing. You may have purchased it now (probably because you got denied prior to purchasing again). Your support ticket will get answered to within 3 days as the website states.

The problem is you were installing software bought by another person before. That's called piracy.

Kerry, Can't believe I didn't ask this before...for good measure can you please post a screenshot of your full version rendering settings window, as well as your SkyMaxx Pro config window?

Release Date Announcement - Real Weather Connector!
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Real Weather Connector - Released!
The last sentence of this post is all you really need to know. http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/72313-noaa-weather-plugin/&do=findComment&comment=1013058 In short, Laminar has lightly touched via public comments that global weather data will soon be available in default X-Plane 10.5. Look for more announcement on this very shortly. Joan is somewhat telling you he knows more than what's been publicly said, and in not so many words...NOAA will be rendered essentially redundant once this happens. Until Laminar releases more information, I can't speak for them OR him. Even this aside, I believe we have now found a way to force this to work even with NOAA prior to X-Plane 10.5. We're still testing this, but it's likely to work.- 74 replies

Release Date Announcement - Real Weather Connector!
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Real Weather Connector - Released!
Yes, although if I were to properly word this, I'd say to get around X-Plane's short comings of not allowing third party plugins access to the same weather data X-Plane's default clouds use. In other words, the ONLY way to get around this was to build a whole new product with a ton of work. It does circumvent this limitation, yes. We also found 3 layers of clouds to be limiting. SkyMaxx Pro v3 is required to take advantage of this product. It will NOT work at all without it.- 74 replies

Release Date Announcement - Real Weather Connector!
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Real Weather Connector - Released!
But they both compile the same data from their own sources...so it's not really right to say what you just did. You are definitely not understanding the aim of Real Weather Connector. As it stands now, if you load up FSGRW or X-Plane real weather, then SkyMaxx Pro will render the ENTIRE sky with clouds for the exact area where your aircraft is. So, if you are over broken clouds, but there is an overcast front 10 miles away, you will actually see broken clouds 10 miles and beyond until you get to the overcast front boundary, and all of a sudden the entire weather scene will re-draw to now show all overcast. With Real Weather Connector it works with SkyMaxx Pro v3.1 to place various weather fronts where they should be, meaning you can now be over those broken clouds and see the overcast ahead of you. No sudden, jarring transition. This basically oversteps what's "not possible" with X-Plane right now by making our own METAR file parser...so when X-Plane or FSGRW download these files from the internet, Real Weather Connector then reads it and grids the clouds throughout the area as they should be shown. Let's use the below image as an example...see how in the image there are clear skies and the aircraft is approaching a weather front? Without Real Weather Connector this image would have actually had those clouds throughout the entire image...no discernible boundary for where the weather system starts.- 74 replies

Release Date Announcement - Real Weather Connector!
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Real Weather Connector - Released!
It can use ANY weather injector which downloads metar.rwx files from the Internet. I used the default real weather option or FSGRW as examples. X-Plane wouldn't allow you to use both at once. Why would you even want to?- 74 replies

Release Date Announcement - Real Weather Connector!
Cameron replied to Cameron's topic in Real Weather Connector - Released!
You can absolutely do this! Real Weather Connector recognizes if you have the real weather option checked in X-Plane. If you adjust it to be localized weather to your liking then SkyMaxx Pro v3 will kick back to it's original way pre-RWC. All of this is "on the fly", so this should be easy for you as a whole.- 74 replies

Sadly it wasn't until later where we discovered NOAA does some funny business with disabling certain real weather features, thereby bypassing items RWC needs to work.- 74 replies

As I recall it, these DO work with RWC with proper settings in either VATSIM or IVAO. This information will be in the documentation of RWC (and easy).- 74 replies

Encourage the developer of whichever weather injector you use to implement METAR based files! It's simply the default X-Plane METAR format, so nothing impossible or daunting for them (I think you use NOAA).- 74 replies

I want to figure out a way to help you get to the bottom of this, but we will need to work together if you're willing. My very first recommendation to you is going to be to install a second demo copy of X-Plane to your computer. Fresh, vanilla, and no other add-ons. Replicate your exact rendering settings in your current X-Plane install, and export out your saved settings from the SkyMaxx Pro v3.1 config menu. Re-install SkyMaxx Pro 3.1 to your new demo copy of X-Plane, and copy over the saved settings from your old X-Plane install to the new: X-Plane/resources/plugins/SilverLining/SavedSettings What type of performance do you get in the vanilla install?
