Oliver Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I'll be glad when V10 ships. I find myself doing four nearly payware quality aircraft in about 8 months of man-hours. I don't think many people develop as fast as some of the team members I'm fortunate to associate with..but we are all on V10 stuff at the moment. I will be excited to devote a good portion of time to other aircraft as soon as possible.Well take your time your addons are so amazing so no rush ;D Quote
Goran_M Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 That panel looks great, Tom. Good competition. Quote
MdMax Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Posted August 19, 2010 I sent my post to several forums when I saw the official Carenado news on their site and on the AVSIM forums. Of course, sending something like my post on the .org would mean breaking the .org rules and get banned. I'm glad .org members are now also able to read this, even if it's a copy/paste without links, and I hope Boogie84 will not come into troubles because of his link in the .org thread. In October 2004, I bought their great Cessna 210M Centurion II for FS2004. It is high quality, and I saw on Aviator 90 videos that they still have this quality today. Will they be able to reach the quality and standards of some X-Plane add-ons with manipulators, 3D gauges and needles, circuit breakers, buttons you can really "push" ? I don't know. But I'm sure there's at least one point that will be highly improved compared to their MSFS versions: the flight dynamics.Tom your Caravan looks awesome. ;D Credit card ready ! Quote
tkyler Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 That panel looks great, TomIt does...wish I had done it! :-)om your Caravan looks awesomeThanks Georges...this is a collaboration though and I think the real talent comes from my other teammates. As the quality really improves in x-plane, many of us find it very advantages now to team up and exploit team members max efficiencies and talents to complete project faster and better. Quote
dpny Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 As an aside, I wonder what the learning curve will be for those switching from lookup tables to Austin's implementation of blade theory. Quote
Goran_M Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 It does...wish I had done it! :-)ahhh, so ****** strikes again. His work is truly brilliant.(Name was edited out by me) Quote

Also Tom, looks as if all gauges are in 3D, but just to make sure are they? and will this have full night lighting? Quote
tkyler Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I don't want to detract from the topic too much, this is about carenado and his thunder......so until we fire up another thread..this will be all I'll say. We're certainly applying everything we've learned into this project. It'll have just about every bell and whistle we feel we can conjour up, including full night lighting...cargo version and some other fun stuff too.As an aside, I wonder what the learning curve will be for those switching from lookup tables to Austin's implementation of blade theory.I have to think it's easier in my opinion..a bit more "natural" to the brain. I did have discussions with the Carenado guys regarding porting stuff to x-plane several months back.....gave them my synopsis on the porting process and once I explained what I knew, I never heard back from them. I myself thought that was in poor taste....something org administration would do but I've gotten used to it I guess. It's why I'm here after all! I am truly excited to work with the very small group of special people that I do. Quote
dpny Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 As pointed out at the .org: "Carenado is a Spanish word, so I'm assuming they mean "Compromiso" which is Spanish for "commitment." Quote
woweezowee Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 finally, Tom . Thank you very much for posting. Now I know it's for real. A very good caravan for x-plane. What a hell of a long waiting time for this one.AND I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER. !!! My very own FSEconomy C208 is polished and waiting for me to take her in the air. Quote
Simmo W Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Tom, my first comment that I thought the latest xplane products were BETTER than Carenado was quite prescient eh? that looks stunning, rivalling Nils work there, and certainly making the FSX stuff look like a 2d panel. Quote
Kesomir Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I agree with this, but who knows, maybe Carenado's offering for x-plane will be better than those for FSX - haven't seen a cockpit yet, here's hoping. Quote
Breyne Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Competition is always good, just make the products better and is the consumer who wins.Looking their site, they have very good planes, hope other developer from FS do the some. Quote
Wynthorpe Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Carenado WERE good a couple of years ago, but now we have the likes of the MU2 (and the upcoming v1.5) and the duchess and other available at XA and they are blowing Carenado out the water. Quote
Paraffin Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 That's great news, Tom! I'll be standing in line here for the Caravan, credit card ready.(Edit): Oh, and it's also good to hear there will be a cargo version. That cabin view you posted is looking way to plush and comfy for my typical FSE bush plane ops. Quote

Not that new caravan though, just look at the screensAdmittedly those look like renders, but still sweet Quote
tkyler Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Carenado WERE good a couple of years ago, but now we have the likes of the MU2 (and the upcoming v1.5) and the duchess and other available at XA and they are blowing Carenado out the water. One thing that is important to point out is that things progress..both technology and with that skills and opportunity. Carenado has been around a long time and the stuff they had/have were top of the game for flight simming. Just like the MU-2, those works though are not taking advantage of the latest and greatest. The new caravan for FSX by Carenado is well above his previous works in quality and detail and I expect further improvement as time goes on.To say that one's works is better than another is to imply that one is better or more capable than another and that is not always the case. Jason, for example, prefers his style as does his customers...doesn't man he's less of a developer or incapable..he just chooses his path. Some designers make calculated choices for whatever reasons. I think Carenado/Fernando is super talented and his stuff is at the top of the quality ladder. I think our best x-plane developers are top of the quality ladder also...I don't think you could say that Carenado is better than us any more than I'd say we're better than them. I think perhaps the x-plane fraternity might feel a little defensive to have such a MSFS big-wig come into our camp and just start taking over...but this is good for the community. The only unknown is the flight models..and how robust they'll be. I'm not sure if Carenado is doing it in house or sourcing a x-plane developer. Taking note of the frequenters of the Carenado thread at the org though...I have my suspicions and if it's who I think it is, then I'll probably have to refrain from purchasing the wonderful artwork of Carenado....nobody hangs around in "their own thread" more than this guy.
