Simmo W Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 hey kiofka ( or others ) I'm thinking of evacuating from 64 bit vista to windoze 7, is it worth it? I'd hope for a > 10 % fps increase for the bother of converting (my i7 920 gtx 275 already runs nicely, but the smoother the better!) Quote
-TheoGregory Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Your sorta out of luck for KLAX. There is no freeware scenery for KLAX. (Atleast in pretty damn sure there isn't)... As for the payware side of things, you can no longer convert FSDreamteam with cloud 9 installer for x-plane.KSFO has FlyTampa but that almost never converts for people though I have seen some nice KSFO scenery in some screenshots so i guess it occasionally works. My opinion is this:KLAX:http://web.me.com/theosdavis/xpfiles/downloads.htmlhttp://blueskyscenery.com/download.htmlhttp://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=11045KSFO:http://web.me.com/theosdavis/xpfiles/downloads.htmlhttp://blueskyscenery.com/download.htmlhttp://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=11046Anyway back to the actual thread Quote
kiofka Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Absolutely Simon, System 7 is, (so far), a rock solid faster platform for me. I think even the boys at Microsoft will agree that Vista was an abortion. (That's why I had previously been running XP up to now.) I have noticed that there are some settings that make a difference in the 7 platform as well. Noteably the desktop appearance. There are the Aero themes which look real nice and 3d like, but I think you may pay for it in performance speed. If your just an info kinda guy, you can set your general appearance to be a "basic" color scheme for an improved performance speed. So yeah, it's time for the change up. Nice thing about Vista...? You can do an OS upgrade to 7 without a disk wipe...groan, like me from XP. Good luck mate. Quote
MaidenFan Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 I tried the AVSIM one, but it said "no data found" when I tried to convert it. I'm a mac user, so does this affect it? By the way, thanks for all of the replies!!! Quote
Simmo W Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 thanks for tempting me'! end of yr is looking good, for an os upgrade and a slightly bigger monitor.. Quote
MaidenFan Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 I've got a Macbook pro and it still has trouble with scenery. Quote
WombatBoy Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I have a MacBook Pro as well but I don't have a lot of issues with highly detailed scenery. Cloud9 KLAX runs great on my machine. Quote
kiofka Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Flew out to KSCK from KSFO. Nice weather. Nice trip. Nice plane. Quote
WombatBoy Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 It's most likely this one here: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=6196 Quote

Cat Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 Where did you get that CRJ from? That's correct (http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=6196) and I created the repaint. Cat ~ Quote
MaidenFan Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 Hard to fly after seeing Javier's CRJ 3d pit, but it'll do for now. Quote
MaidenFan Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 I'm now a beta tester, but I can't find an MD80, just an MD82. Quote
Kaphias Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 I'm now a beta tester, but I can't find an MD80, just an MD82.That's it. Quote
MaidenFan Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Where did you get that scenery? It better not be FlyTampa because I haven't been able to convert it! Quote
WombatBoy Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 It's FlightScenery's KPDX and the surrounding Portland, Oregon area. You can find it here: http://secure.simmarket.com/flight-scenery-flightzone-02-portland.phtml It converts great, no editing was done. Not sure why FlyTampa doesn't work for you, I have plenty of their sceneries and it works fine. Quote
MaidenFan Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 FlyTampa doesn't work because it asks where my FS2004 folder is and I don't have one. I make a decoy, but it didn't fool it. Any suggestions? Quote
woweezowee Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 yes: read the fs2xplane instructions. you'll find that it creates an fake installation folder of msfs for you. Quote
