Shane Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Hey, all, great release! Love the auto-start. It sure helps when not much time is available (every add-on should have this, lol). Having said that, I noticed a few visual errors that sort of stuck out to me. I guess they can either be referred to as errors or just "oversights". 1. Pilot scale is too small. Not much to explain here. Found a bunch of pics online to show what I am referring too: a. http://img1.pictaero.com/2013/07/27/s/197769.jpg b. http://www.mcyl.netrunner.pl/stare-fotki/spotting-EPZG/CGQ-1.jpg c. http://img.planespotters.net/photo/228000/original/SP-KPV-SprintAir-Saab-340_PlanespottersNet_228009.jpg d. http://fotografialatawcowa.com/plane/dsc_4578_std.jpg - Notice how close the pilots are to eachother. e. http://www.mcyl.netrunner.pl/stare-fotki/spotting-EPZG/CGQ-1.jpg 2. Saab signature side-window slant. Essentially, what I am referring to is how the side windows (of the cockpit) angle down. It's one of the defining looks of the real Saab. a. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a3/Saab_340A_VH-KDK.jpg b. http://img.planespotters.net/photo/299000/original/SP-KPC-SprintAir-Saab-340_PlanespottersNet_299768.jpg c. http://img.planespotters.net/photo/290000/original/YL-RAH-RAF-Avia-Saab-340_PlanespottersNet_290775.jpg Not sure if stuff like this is something you folks would look at fixing, but I wanted to point them out. Thanks for your time! Quote
Cameron Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 I don't really have too much to say in here other than having had my eyes bleed out over blueprints and CADs, I disagree. In a simulated environment we have FOV differentials depending on a user by user basis, and depending on your settings things can appear more or less skewed when they are not. If you put the Saab over a manufacturer CAD it's almost unfair how accurate it is. 2. Saab signature side-window slant. Essentially, what I am referring to is how the side windows (of the cockpit) angle down. It's one of the defining looks of the real Saab. Side window slanting is going to vary depending on weight configuration of the aircraft. The model is accurate. Sorry if you're left upset here. We must be doing something right if it comes down to the size of people sitting in a cockpit. Quote

Cameron Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Not upset at all, just things I noticed. That's fine. Just realize the research and time that went into this. We were granted some pretty nice access to get this stuff right. Any photo will have distortion, especially when we talk about angles and scales. That photo you posted of two pilots on the inside makes it look SO much smaller than it really is. Quote

Wayne Roberts Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 ShaneI, m not getting into a shouting match about thisIts a great aircraft, try flying it instead of looking at it,I'm pretty sure the team spent a couple of minutes checkingThe dimensions before they released it.Wayne 1 Quote

Wayne Roberts Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 I have a question might be a bug? When the plane is sitting for a period the props are turning slowlyAt first, but they spin up to what looks like full speed. This is after loading cold and dark and not touching anything. It happens with all versions of the plane.Wayne Quote

I have never seen them increase in speed. Not sure what that is about. Does this happen every time you load X-Plane with the Saab? Try changing aircraft or airports and see what that does. Wayne Roberts Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Ok will try that and let you know in an hour or so.Wayne Quote
Wayne Roberts Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 I have restarted the X-Plane tried a couple of different aircraft and airports, then the saab ,with X-Planes internal weather set to cavok, and windy +real world weather and the props are behaving normally now. Why it happened the first time around ??? will let you know if it happens again RegardsWayne Quote

ss8913 Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 I like how the control surfaces move on their own during gusty wind conditions. Have seen this before on the Pipers I used to fly - although.. is this something that happens on a plane with hydraulically controlled flight surfaces? the rudder pedals in the cockpit move along with the rudder, which I wouldn't expect in a cold and dark state with the hydraulic pumps off/system depressurized? Or is this just something that X-Plane does? Quote
Goran_M Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 The control surfaces use default x-plane datarefs, so yes, it's an x-plane thing Quote
