I really love DataRefTool over DataRefEditor.

But as mentioned here in the forums in several places X-Planes crashes to desktop with "--=={This application has crashed because of the plugin: Challenger 650 by Hot Start}==--" when the DataRefTool plugin is loaded. (DataRefTool 2.3.0, Challenger 1.7r1, Manjaro Linux)

My question here is if we have any idea why that is the case?

All plugins are loaded into a shared memory space.

Any plugin can corrupt any other plugin.

Occasionally this shows up as a reliable and reproducible clash between two of them.

I AM asking one of the authors. You don't have to be so mad.

Sorry for being curt, not my intention to express anger. What I meant was we have discussed this with the Hot Start developer, they are very aware of this issue, and I'm almost 100% certain the CL-650 is using the XPLM SDK in a perfectly acceptable and normal fashion. I am no such confidence in DataRefTool; it is well known to use "hacks" to do its job (I agree, the result is very useful!).

DRT has been known to cause this issue with multiple products on the market. It is not unique to the CL650 from Hotstart. @Pils is right that you should ask this question to the responsible, guilty party at DRT.

Ah, by the way: Disabling DataRefTool in the PluginAdmin, then loading into the Challenger, then re-enabling it works for me.

Happy to hear that, as I am having the same issue and had to revert back to Dataref Editor.

Will test that ASAP.
