Beechcraft C23 Sundowner for X-Plane 12!

Hello Captains!

We are happy to announce that our Beechcraft C23 Sundowner, soon will be available for X-Plane 12!

This is not a simple patch to make Sundowner X-Plane 12 compatible, but a serious upgrade with many improvements, and additions! The version that is already in the store, includes 2 versions of the aircraft, the original version, and upgraded version with Garmin's G5 avionics. The new Sundowner adds 2 more versions, for a total of 4! One with the Garmin G500, and one with Garmin 1000 avionics!

Those upgrades are not simple instruments swapping, but go deep into aircraft's systems, like the electrical, which now includes all circuits breakers to be operational! Here is a feature list with all the major items:

1. X-Plane 12 (only) compatible. 
2. Support for the full X-Plane 12 run.
3. X-Plane 12 flight model integration, which includes:
   a. Flight model adjustments for correct aircraft performance.
   b. X-Plane 12 new weight and balance model. You can adjust the weight of each seat occupant, through X-Plane's UI.
   c. Yaw trim tab adjustment, for neutral rudder input at cruise.
4. Four aircraft models, with unique panel layout, and operation.
   a. The original C23 Sundowner.
   b. C23 Sundowner with G5 Instruments (requires the RealSimGear G5 Instruments from X-Aviation store).
   c. C23 Sundowner with G500 Avionics Suite (requires the RealSimGear G500 Avionics Suite from X-Aviation store).
   d. C23 Sundowner with X-Plane's G1000 Avionics Suite.
5. X-Plane 12 windscreen rain effects, and defrost control.
6. Full use of X-Plane 12 lighting system.
7. All circuit breaker are operational.
8. Fully simulated AMR-350 TSO audio panel, for the original, G5, and G500 models. For the G1000 version, extended simulation of the GMA 1347 audio panel. All models simulate the use of headphones.
9. Integration of Libradio, for true to life COM and NAV reception. Credits to @skiselkov.
10. Controls and displays for COM and NAV radios, individualized per model. For the original model, G5, and G500, COM1 and NAV1 are controlled via the GNS430 head unit, and COM2 and NAV2 via the radio stack units.
    a. The original model has a button between CDI and DME indicators to switch sources between VOR1 and VOR2. Pressing the CDI button on the GNS430, source becomes the GPS.
    b. In the G5 model, NAV1 drives the G5 HSI, and NAV2 the CDI and DME indicators.
    c. For the G500 model, all NAV indications are displayed on the G500 PFD.
11. New tablet location. Now stored under the panel, on the right side, and displayed on pilot's yoke.

Would I be correct in guessing that the rest of the original planes will be getting the XP12 overhaul?

I can confirm at this point is that DC3  v2 will be.

I notice the XP12 screenshots include the G500 but it seems that the current G500 version isn't compatible with recent XP12 beta releases - does this suggest there's a XP12 G500 release on the near horizon ?

No my job to talk about G500, but I have the latest beta and the published version of G500, and works OK, at least on my machine.

That's very odd as it's causing a CTD on mine and a number of other user's PCs very shortly after powering on - seemingly at the point the left display would start showing the map.

That's why I'm pointing to my experience, and not talking generally. I suggest to let @Coopto know about any issues, giving him all the info you can, so he can find a solution.

Thank you, Ilias, that's great news - the Sundowner v2 is a superb aircraft, looking very much forward to do some cloud-dodging in XP12
And a huge thanks for the G500 retrofit; this looks to be an awesome panel!

That depends on Gizmo, which currently does not support Linux.

Following and looking forward to purchase as soon as it is available. I fly a 1983 BE23 that is currently in for a panel upgrade. Getting 2 G5’s, GTN650xi, GNS500 auto pilot and a few other items. I use X-Plane to keep my skills up while the airplane is in maintenance.

Those are really good news, can´t wait!! can´t find in the list if the RXP GNS 430 V2 is stilla vailable in the upcoming XP12 version and would be really really great also include the RXP GTN 650 integration!!

Actually yes. Was on the back foot to release DC3, but now is getting ready. I'm implementing new UI, and as soon is ready, will go for release.

Almost everything is ready, but I have a crashing bug(?) on windows that I'm investigating. As soon as I'll fix this, will be released.

So sorry to nag, but any updates? Been eagerly awaiting the xplane 12 version. Also, forgive me, but how will the update be made available if I have already purchased the module? Thanks and you do incredible work.

Not yet. The issue is that running, in my windows machine, X-Plane in debugging mode, is extremely slow. I hope to find the solution as soon as possible, and go for release.

I've been asked about building a system to run XPlane 12 by an owner of a Musketeer.  He has expressed interest in running it in VR.  I don't have much experience with XPlane and was wondering about the VR capability of this module.  Is it yes? No?  Working on it?  Dumb Question?

Currently, we are at the final stage before releasing the XP12 full compatible version. We will make sure that will be VR compatible, when will be released.
