Pete_SMS Posted July 4, 2012 Author Report Posted July 4, 2012 Hi,Just in case you thought the Beaver project is in idle mode ... nope it is not. Here are the first WIP shots of the old school vintage Beaver. Beside the 3D work, the flight model made some good progress too. Still work to do, but it is in much better shape now.Hope you enjoy! 2 Quote
Cameron Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 Looks great, Pete...glad to see you progressing nicely! Keep it up! Quote
ryancz Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Beautiful!Few questions- on the modernized Beaver, will the liveries be interchangeable between amphib, tundra, and wheeled? Will there be tip tanks installed?(vintage or modern)Really tempted to ask about eta, but that would only annoy you. Quote
Pete_SMS Posted August 7, 2012 Author Report Posted August 7, 2012 RyanCz,the liveries will not be directly interchangeable. The mesh for the different versions is different here and there and therefore the uv layout will not fit perfectly, if you don't use the correct layout. Also, my philosophy is, that a certain livery belongs to a certain version/setup of the Beaver. Therefore, it was not my plan to do so. There will be a paint kit, so people will have the chance to create their own liveries. There might be tip tanks too, yes.And no, I don't answer questions on ETA. Quote
ryancz Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 Ok. That's fine, because you have a reason. Is there any way to pre-order, so when it's released, it's shipped immediately? Quote
ryancz Posted August 8, 2012 Report Posted August 8, 2012 Oh, and also, I would opt for a ski version, but only if it won't delay the release. (ie: an update) Quote
Pete_SMS Posted September 3, 2012 Author Report Posted September 3, 2012 Hey there,Here is another WIP shot of the Vintage Beaver cockpit. The center panel and the co-pilot side is more or less finished now. The radio is still missing on the co-pilot panel, but it will be very basic anyway. The Vintage Beaver will be a pure aircraft, without any modern equipment in it. I hope you like the shot. Once the pilot panel is finished, I will show it of course. What else is new:- I am planning to have the regular tire version of modernized Beaver fully animated by the end of this week.- The flight model is making good progress.- I re-designed the architecture and framework of my plug-in code. This allows more efficient coding. I am a big fan of clearly structured and tidy code, which is easy to maintain and easy to extend. Stay tuned! 1 Quote
Xflyboy Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Thanks for the update Pete, can't wait to get my on hands on this! Quote
ryancz Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) Awesome!Edit: Wait, this means I'll have to decide which one to use?!? Edited September 3, 2012 by ryancz Quote
Pete_SMS Posted September 4, 2012 Author Report Posted September 4, 2012 That's right. You can't fly both at the same time. Quote
Kieran Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 I am going out now to buy another computer and joystick. Just so that I can fly both at the same time.Looking really good there Pete, cannot wait to get my hand on her. Quote
ryancz Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Well I could use V9 and V10 at the same time, with each version. But I wouold miss half of the experience in each plane. Quote
Pete_SMS Posted September 16, 2012 Author Report Posted September 16, 2012 Hi,Time for another update for the vintage Beaver. The cockpit is almost finshed. The only thing missing is the vintage radio stack. So don't expect any LED displays.Texturing of the cockpit will start soon...so stay tuned for updates.I hope you like what you see Quote
ryancz Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 I hope you like what you see I sure do!That looks great! Quote
eaglewing7 Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 Very nice! It's so vintage, you could probably paint it up as CF-FHB-X. And yes that was a real registration... Quote
Pete_SMS Posted September 16, 2012 Author Report Posted September 16, 2012 Thanks Ryan! It's so vintage, you could probably paint it up as CF-FHB-X. And yes that was a real registration... I know... I would just need to remove the little window in the back and do some changes to the vertical tail. Quote
ryancz Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 CF- FrederickHowardBuller-XDid you know that? Quote
Pete_SMS Posted September 17, 2012 Author Report Posted September 17, 2012 If that question was for me, yes I did. :-) Quote

Pete_SMS Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 The Beaver is warming up for a morning flight. Any idea where I am? Quote
Pete_SMS Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 The Beaver flight model is really close to beta now, to be ripped apart by experts, virtual bush pilots and real world Beaver pilots. I hope it won't be too bad and I am sure it's not. Things are looking very good so far. The flight model for the Beaver is very tricky, and if you just go and use the flight manual and the numbers in it, you haven't done your homework. Sometimes things are a little different in the real aircraft and I am sure there will be comments from virtual pilots like "Yes, but the manual says it should be ..." Yes, the manual does, but not the living and breathing Beaver and she is my reference and so are comments and inputs from pilots flying her. The modernized Beaver 3D models are in a frozen state and so are the textures. A real Beaver sound recording session took place and animations and manipulators are on its way too. However, I won't talk about a release yet. I don't rush anything and this baby will be around for a long time, also after the release. My goal is not to develop aircraft after aircraft. My goal is to create the ultimate experience for the user for a certain aircraft and there are so many things besides releasing the aircraft itself. A release will be announced by me and then you know that it is around the corner. 2 Quote
