cscostas Posted January 25, 2019 Report Posted January 25, 2019 Hi all, can you please tell me if wing flex is supported in this product? If yes, do I need to change any settings because I dont observe any flex even on hard landings. Thank you, Costas Quote

cscostas Posted January 25, 2019 Author Report Posted January 25, 2019 You mean in real life or x-plane? Quote
JGregory Posted January 25, 2019 Report Posted January 25, 2019 The Saab wing is very rigid so I doubt there is much, if any, wing flex. As such we have not modeled any wing flex as of v1.5.1. This will be reviewed for v2.0. Quote
darrenbe Posted January 26, 2019 Report Posted January 26, 2019 The wing does flex in real-life, more than you might expect for a relatively short wing. More noticeable at the wing tip, especially during turbulence. Quote

darrenbe Posted January 27, 2019 Report Posted January 27, 2019 I used to travel quite a bit in Saab 340's and 2000's, but unfortunately I don't have any video, however this video on youtube has a typical example of the sort of flex on the 340 wing. I'm not sure if it would be worth simulating, as it's nothing like a B777, 747, 787 or similar where the flex is on the extreme side. Quote

I even wish that some heavies would simulate the vibration when flaps when extended beyond flap 2. 1 Quote
JGregory Posted January 27, 2019 Report Posted January 27, 2019 (edited) That video appears to be of a Saab 340B, which has longer wings. Longer wings = more flex. And even then, the flex in the video is barely visible. Not sure it would be worth it but we will look at this again when we get to v2.0. Edited January 27, 2019 by JGregory Quote
N1K Posted January 28, 2019 Report Posted January 28, 2019 (edited) B and A have same size as each other, would be hard to spot one of those flex in XP i woulda thought. Your thinking of the WT for the size increase, extra 65cm a side outboard wing section. Edited January 28, 2019 by N1K Quote
Goran_M Posted January 28, 2019 Report Posted January 28, 2019 The B often times has the extended wing tips. Early B models did not have these, but they added 4+ ft to the wing span and they would be common among the B variant. Quote
N1K Posted January 28, 2019 Report Posted January 28, 2019 yea, that's what I meant by WT (wing tips). Still heaps of B's out there rocking the same wing as an A. Quote
Burning Bridges Posted July 29, 2019 Report Posted July 29, 2019 Great video, I love how the wing flex conveys the real physics of flying. Even if it is not strong, you can see how the air is working against the wing. Quote
