Goran_M Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) It will be interesting to see which one comes out first....the 2000 or the 340. The release of the 340 has been "imminent" for quite some time now.....We don't always post progress reports, Steven. After the DC-3 is out, I'll make a few, rather large, "announcements". steven winslow Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Heh! Just a friendly poke in the ribs, Goran. (I suppose I should have put a in there) I'm in no hurry for either the DC-3, the 340 or even the Beaver. They'll be out when they're out and I'll love 'em when I get 'em. Quote
Kieran Posted February 1, 2012 Author Report Posted February 1, 2012 Well I have run into a small technical bump. It hasn't stopped work, but will need to be fixed.I have started to texture the overhead panel, but part of it isn't being textured. I have never seen this issue before, the non-textured part is of the same mesh as other textured parts, yet remains grey. (see screenshot, the top part of the panel isn't being textured.) Perhaps someone has an idea as to why?Cheers Kieran Quote
Gjalp Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 simple question......yo checked your face normals? What about the uv map?? are they sitting on the actual map or off to one side? I had that happen, took me ages to realise that I had them sitting just off to one side Slainte,AndyNZCH Quote
Kieran Posted February 2, 2012 Author Report Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) Thanks Andy, but I have checked normals and they aren't the problem. And the whole panel is on the UV map with a few pixels to spare.EDIT: found the problem, a stray copy of the panels in another .obj. Edited February 2, 2012 by Kieran Quote
Dozer Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 Great work Kieran!I have a suggestion - have you considered using polytext for the panels? Polycount will go through the roof but apparently that's not really an issue with modern PCs.http://www.dh-aircraft.co.uk/news/files/b176dcfdac45527d2ba263bd4b490525-72.html Quote
Kieran Posted February 3, 2012 Author Report Posted February 3, 2012 I have considered it, yes. But I already have a rather high poly count, and I am getting crisp text with textures. Quote
Kieran Posted February 18, 2012 Author Report Posted February 18, 2012 Not to show. I have been UV mapping the cockpit, which is taking a while because school has started again. Quote
flyingscots Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 I am very interested in your Saab 2000 because I love the real plane. Can you give me any idea about your schedule? Thank you very much Quote
Kieran Posted April 28, 2012 Author Report Posted April 28, 2012 My time is currently devoted to the Extra 300L I'm making. That is when I have time, with school taking priority. But if there is any news relating to the Saab 2000, i will definitely be posting about it at the first appropriate opportunity. Quote
razeer Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Awesome so far!Would love to see more of this Quote

TheSaemi Posted December 8, 2013 Report Posted December 8, 2013 Hey! Are there any news about the Saab 2000? Quote
Kieran Posted January 17, 2014 Author Report Posted January 17, 2014 Put it this way, I plan to finish my Extra before I work more on the SAAB. Plus being in my final year of school, and other various things going on in my life, I have very little spare time for X-Plane development work. I'm still around, and I still have the files and everything, so I wouldn't say it is dead, but it won't be released for quite some time. Quote
Vinny003 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Hi, Kieran!I'm interested in the SAAB 2000 too!! How is the SAAB 2000 coming along? Thanks! Cheers, Vincent Quote
