I tried contacting support for this issue but got no reply. I only found 3 files in the install, one mac, one windows, and the 3rd I can only assume is Linux, but I couldn't get it to work, it uses some sort of Tcl scripting and it refuses to start. Any pointers?

This is the error I'm getting

	jasem@jasem-kubuntu:~/Downloads/XPlane/SkyMaxx Pro 3.3.1$ ./dist
	./dist: 2: ./dist: package: not found
	./dist: 3: ./dist: starkit::bd2T7FWWGbQmn2kAJkAbiKOb: not found
	./dist: 4: ./dist: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

Thanks I sent email to support. The product page should have mentioned required OS. Hopefully Linux would be supported at some point in the future.

Nope, absolutely no information is given on OS compatibility.

The last iteration of the store had detailed information maintained for each product.

This is basically Mac/Windows and NO Linux for Every Product We Stock.

For this reason, maintaining the product meta data is a waste of staff time.

The very small % of Linux "errors" that result in refund is LESS time expended by staff than it is to maintain the product meta data.

If unsure ... email ahead of time. No information was given so you could've easily googled at found that we're not exactly Linux friendly, like, you know, most of the commercial for pay software (and especially gaming) world.

Support is unlikely and grows moreso every day. You can thank the latest round of pirating idiots that have forced us ever deeper into the guts of Windows and Mac to push back.

Alright, I have to take a stand on this one. It's perfectly reasonable for customers to expect to find system compatibility information for a product before they purchase it. We need to fix this. How long does it take to put a message on the checkout page warning users that Linux is not supported?

I have no idea. Cam's department.

and I haven't heard back from support, how long do they usually take to respond?

It is a 3 day turnaround, often times less. With the weekend having just been here I would say three for this request.

I see you don't miss opportunity to offend people using linux. I was just checking the forum to see whether you will fulfill your "promise" about ixeg 737 linux version and came here to read that linux users are pirates (idiots .... don't you have PR specialist in xaviation? or you use the one of D. Tr.?) while windows ones are not ..... let me say again that I am using only products I've paid for, in linux. And if you look for pirated software you will find probably only windows one.

@mishaikin, I think you misread, he said that the last Pirate attempt to crack their product forced them to make gizmo more Win/Mac specific, hence taking it further back from having a linux compatibility...

He never said that linux users are pirates...

Stop looking for fights you pathetic troll.

You must be proud speaking like this. Hire a PR specialist to consult your posts before writing insults. I've never in my life have allowed myself calling people trolls/idiots etc online. Even when don't agree with someone. If discussing and arguing in a forum is such a pain and does not produce money why bother at all reading it and answering. For sure you will keep more clients if staying silent.

No offense, but your initial entry into this topic sucked.

Well, I misread the linux support and pirates stuff statement due to previous violent reactions to the linux support topic on this forum. Honestly there were two products I would buy from you - ixeg 737 and maybe skymaxx if supported for my os. For the first one I was even ready to install xplane on windows but the attitude here made me harden my position and wait to see if you will change your mind and support linux. I guess you will not from what I am reading ....

I don't foresee it, no. From the business side, for me at least, it just doesn't make sense.

As a lifelong Mac user I can understand the pain of wanting software that isn't always available for your platform of choice. It stinks, but that's just reality.

I'm a long time Mac user too and I can understand Cameron's standing on the business side of the issue; the irony is that I am almost sure it wouldn't be difficult to find someone from the linux community who would do the coding for free, even knowing that he would be working for a business.

I'm a 15+ years software developer under Linux, I can confirm that :)

Similar story with PilotEdge Linux client, I raised the issue and after a while Keith who is quite competent across multiple OSes was able to compile it on Linux (initially on my machine after NDA) and since then we have it on Linux.

Now I do not know how SkyMaxx Pro is architected internally, but given it already has a Mac port suggests that porting to Linux might not be all that difficult. If the developers are willing to let me give it a try (after NDA), I can see if a Linux port is possible given my free time.

We know how to port it. That's not really the crux of the issue at all!
