Simmo W Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks to Arty, who's a sound specialist, for convincing me to try the CF104, it's amazing, as you'll see: He's also contributed to some great Blog content regarding new sound developments that might be seen in Xplane 10, read here. All devs take note, sound is very important, and will become more important as standards go up:http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/10/17/new-developments-in-sound-for-xplane-cf104-video/ Quote
Simmo W Posted October 17, 2010 Author Report Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks Kes, I enjoyed making that one. Quote
tkyler Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Sound is definitely sorely missing in xplane and something I've been aching to get into for a while now. Indeed it's one of the first things on my list after V10 work gets done...excellent product that 104! Quote
eaglewing7 Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Nice work on the video, and an excellent plane! One thing I noticed was that the canopy was missing in the initial shots. And then in some of the early flying footage the Ram Air Turbine and the Tail Hook are both deployed. Also in some of the cockpit footage the artificial horizon is not set up correctly or off (which can make it really difficult to accurately fly the plane), and at another point I saw that the radar was off altogether, making it very difficult if you try to fly extremely low to the deck...All in all very nice work! Simmo W Posted October 17, 2010 Author Report Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks guys.Greg has already replied to the YouTube page, noticing the same. His plugin controls what is displayed, and some of my external camera shots caused the strange look. Hooks and ram air deployed...in fact worse, at one point the canopy appeared half way down the fuse and the pilot 3 feet to left of the plane, as well as a 2ft square hole where the ram air was!But that was only me using the free camera, it looks fine at other times. Greg told me he'll look into the camera issues for the future. This was my very first flight, do I flew it by the seat of my pants, very little instrument use, mainly the basic 6 of course. I think I broke the horizon during the aerobatics! Quote
Ben Russell Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 ..wish I could make videos half as good as that.. Quote
Simmo W Posted October 18, 2010 Author Report Posted October 18, 2010 Thanks Indi, means a lot coming from you. But I wish I could program 1/1000th as well as you Quote
OlaHaldor Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 What's that music? It's amazing! Quote
Simmo W Posted October 18, 2010 Author Report Posted October 18, 2010 Beautiful, isn't it. It's from the soundtrack to "how to train your dragon", if u haven't seen it, hire it- it has amazing animation, flying scenes, music and...scenery! I saw it twice in 3d Quote
Beej Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 The combination of the sound, soundtrack and the camera angles make it a superb example of X-Plane. My favourite moment was the stall turn - it reminded me of my all-time favourite Top Gear clip - Bugatti Veyron vs Eurofighter - when the Eurofighter is on the return leg it performs a beautiful looping turn (immelman?) and the camera catches it right at the apogee in slo-mo. Wouldnt mind a Veyron though.........Beej Quote
