  1. Q1. You want the mature babe to be oiled? Q2. How mature are we looking at here? And so it came to pass that Sir Scotchegg annointeth was he, with liberal libations of Johnsons & Johnsons along with strategic placements of tissue paper ...
  2. The 'truth'? The truth is presented factually and dispassionately.
  3. G'day to all my friends here @ X-Pilot. I'm taking some time away from flight-simulation (for a while) as I need to sort through some life issues ... just a temporary thing and I probably need a good old break anyway . I'm posting this NOT because I think that I'm anything special .. LOL, but just as an FYI ... because I've enjoyed my 'stay' here; this is a terrific site with some great personalities ... and to acknowledge that I'd like to say a special thanks to you Cameron, to Ben, Goran, Theo and the whole of the LES team, to Tom, and all you other guy's and gals who I've had the pleasure to have communicated with over time. So in the meantime, have a great life people and I hope to see you all around the old X-Plane traps in the future. Cheers amigos! Kris P.
  4. That you do mate, that you do! I hope you had a relaxing Christmas Ben, and that the holiday cheer extends well into the New Year! You shouldn't be in a rush to get back, I'm sure that it won't be the death of anyone to have to wait a wee bit longer ... we should all take a breath and live a bit outside of X-Plane ... occassionally. Me? Well I'm just chilling out, with good food, beer, single malt scotch and some fine Australian reds .. playing my guitar ... haven't had a fly in 4 days ... hehe.
  5. I reckon that if you're going to say something ... make sure it's constructive ... flesh it out with specifics and information that can help get to a resolution; otherwise you're just sh*t stirring. There are enough whacko's on the Internet who'll spread innuendo until it becomes some hard to pin down truism that the uneducated start to believe is fact. Plenty of examples of this kind of cr@p happening before in the XP universe. You're not that kind of guy are you mate?
  6. Standing by Pete!
  7. TBH ... I've never tried a manual start .. maybe I should!
  8. I have no idea what you're trying to say Birdy.dma old mate .. but that's probably just me being as thick as two sawn off planks. EGT always spikes a bit on the JS32 during takeoff ... unless you're really easy on the throttle.
  9. SkyMaxx Pro has delivered me what was advertised and then some. I'm not saying that I don't appreciate some folk providing positive criticism ... I do. However, here's my 2 bits. I don't know what voodoo John and Sundog did and how many virginal black cats were sacrificed to do what they did ... but how the flack did this increase my framerate? Because increase it it did ... manifold. If SMP was to be sold purely as an fps increasing plugin ... I would have bought it in a heartbeat ... and I get beautiful skies to boot! Whats not to love? Merry X'Mas y'all. Edit: The planes I fly most (in order of frequency) are the JS32, the C90B and the MU-2 ... with the JS32 and the MU-2 I went from a steady 30fps in rural areas to a whopping 60fps .. that's a 100% increase! I've never flown the Carenado C90B WITHOUT SMP so I can't compare, but with it I get low 28 high 35; again these are respectable numbers. The SAAB ... well I'll wait for the patch or bite the bullet and get a hardware upgrade next year sometime ...
  10. I'm not a student ... and the confluence of time of year (Christmas), wife, living expenses and the cost of wine & beer ... deny me the justification to spend that amount of money on myself for now. Cheers!
  11. I'll complain. Vociferously, if it helps hehe.
  12. Things a looking great! Very interested in this one.
  13. Google says .. CRJ200 Crosswind Limits Dry.................................27 knots Wet................................24 knots Snow/ice.........................15 knots Gusts up to 40 knots sounds a wee bit excessive to me! I guess it would depend on the frequency and duration of gust modelling in X-Plane on how it would ultimately affect the aircraft. Try it with Peters A380 .. if you own it.
  14. Brilliant! Thanks and YES please! I love the 'feel' of this aircraft but have never been able to start the engines following the available Russian videos, and my understanding of the manuals is flawed. This is most welcome! Cheers, Kris Pryo
  15. In real life (and in the sim) I'm a turboprop addict. My favourites are (in no particular order); MU-2KingAir C90 & 200DH-6 TwotterJetstream 31/32SAAB 340 seriesPilatus PC-12
  16. I was already in that happy 40+ fps state with beautiful skies using SkyMaxx version 1 on my old i5 clunker of a PC. Now ... I'm still in that happy state with 1.1 and everything pushed a notch higher! Thanks John and Cameron ... love your work! Kris P.
  17. Hi Cameron, you mention that the instructions are in the email, but I don't see that in the email I received. Is this a patch that I run over the top of the original install .. or do I uninstall and run the version 1.1 from scratch. Cheers! Kris P.
  18. I agree .. tuned to your system, SkyMaxx increases XP performance ... BTW, I want to thank you John, indispensable product ... loving it! Cheers, Kris P.
  19. Hi flydav, when you've saved your plugin settings for NOAA Weather, you need to go into XP weather menu check the 'use weather from the net' option is selected (I can't recall exactly what the radio button is called). I don't know if it's required, but I always initiate a manual download, after which NOAA seems to settle into the downloads itself. I'm not sure about the flight level thing within the plugin ... best bet would be to contact Joan (author) and I think there might be some documentation as well in the install folders .. but will have to wait until I get home ... The EDIT: Also found this on the Org; The first wind level is at FL100 let some space to let x-plane transition from the metar wind. So yes 5000 is a great value. But you must enter the Flight Level on the settings window so 5 is the value to set. That's what will happen: From 0 to 5000 xplane sets weather (METAR) At 5000 feet GFS controls weather, sets the next wind layer to FL100 and x-plane will transition as you ascents. GFS will control winds for the rest of layers. During the descent at 5000 feet GFS will enable METAR again and X-Plane will do a time based transition to the METAR values.
  20. Wow ... it took a while of playing with the settings. HOWEVER for me, this package is worth the price for the fps increase alone .... with HDR turned on, I now get between mid 30's to high 40's! **Word of CAUTON** Your mileage WILL vary regarding my FPS increase claim, because you have to be circumspect with what gets turned off and what you leave on. You WILL have to make informed choices. I believe I have a good balance of plausibility + natural beauty and smooth flying to make it an enjoyable and 'realistic' flying experience for me. Note that I let my video card hardware handle all the anti-aliasing & anisotropic settings etc ... and I use the most minimal settings of same in XP rendering menu. This works for me and I don't get jaggies ... and I used to get around 30 fps in most areas .. dropping to around 25 in big city areas. I haven't tried with the SAAB yet, but I'm sure that it'll bring me back to reality ... however, it's sure to be an improvement to what it's been previously (looking forward to that update I can tell you!). SkyMaxx is glorious .. and it's eliminated the closed in claustrophobic feel of standard X-Plane! CONGRATS on a fine product! As my FSX cousins would say ... this is one of theose WOW things that is a game changer .. and now it's an indispensable part of my flying environment lol!
  21. The weather must be worse on your installation ... maybe because you're in Europe?
  22. Jumping jehosaphat Tom ... you furriners shore do like puttin' folk down some.
  23. I've been using Joan's stuff for some time now and it's good. However if we keep down-talking what developers bring to the table (or in this case, they're still planning to bring it to the table), it makes it even more difficult for them to get a toe hold into the X-Plane universe ... and I don't think that's a good thing. Commercial developers tend to make an environment more accessible and the product tends to be more polished and eventually more comprehensive. I like polished and comprehensive. Flightgear is free .. no need for pricey X-Plane stuff ... big WINK
  24. Hi Theo , Here's a link to the FJS Q-Dash8 forum where they discuss this. However, in case you don't have the access ... in a nutshell; the load and balance manager (quite innovative in and of itself) was conflicting with FSE's own method for determining load and weight based on the cargo/pax you choose within FSE (FSE has a python based plugin that connects to FSE and does all that stuff for you based on your assignment). For the 727, FJS have provided a work-around which involves disabling certain functions within the Load and Balance manager, and I believe this translates across in a similar fashion to the Dash 8. You have to edit the WeightNBalance.lua and disabled the "function update()" and the "function draw()". AFAIK this has not been confirmed, but I'm guessing it works as the thread never continued beyond that point. I have my own rather more elaborate reasons for not flying the FJS creations anymore on FSE or anywhere else ... Cheers!
  25. It's a layer of complexity that might make it harder to fly in FSE ... The FJS 727 and Dash8 for example. I don't use them anymore because of those issues with their extra weight and balance stuff.
