  1. In real life there's a lot more tactile feedback when driving your car @ night Flying a monitor requires sight ... and a dark screen doesn't really provide the same type of light to simulate night vision imo. I'm fairly well experienced in using my night vision from my infantry days and then later working security ... and a dark monitor just doesn't come close imo.
  2. You guys should try this .. http://stereopsis.com/flux/ I do all my flying after hours after work .. and have it installed on my PC. It's never too bright
  3. Hi Joseph, Terrain is improving (e.g. http://www.alpilotx.net/2012/03/13/x-plane-10-hd-mesh-scenery-released-experimental/) and airports are also being made to supply the demand look at Chris K's stuff for example. I probably should add that I don't often fly above 20,000 ft either. Of course personal preference will play a major part of an individuals decision. I find the default scenery for FSX just awful and the feeling of 'canned flight' equally unpalatable (especially the helicopters). I have REX Essentials for P3D and agree that a comprehensive weather generator is definitely something that I miss, and hopefully the companies who produce them will begin building for X-Plane in the future. In the meantime I choose not to give the market any false assumptions by choosing not to spend any more money on products that are based on and support FSX in any guise or form. I'm effectively on a boycott campaign of FSX merchandise Better a quick merciful separation and moving on to the new, than lingering around trying to revive a decomposing corpse.
  4. Javier, you did a tremendous job with the manual IMO and a spectacular job with the aircraft. With my settings (no HDR cause it stuffs my framerate) I have arguably the best cockpit of any of the planes I tend to fly in X-Plane (MU2, BK-117 & Q-400). The flightdeck lighting is just pretty much spot on for me as are most other aspects of the aircraft. I'm so enthusiastic about this plane! Simmo old mate, I'm really looking forward to X-SimReviews treatment of this aircraft!
  5. Indeed. This is the truth, but many people will refuse to see it.

    JRollon Releases BAe Jetstream 32

Absolutely a most brilliantly awesome aircraft and now a definite favourite of mine. Very immersive. If I could give it 10 STARS I would. Thank you Javier! The EDIT - of course Emalice (comment below), thank you Cameron for making the file available so quickly and a discount to boot! I hope you guys ALL have a terrific and safe Christmas .. bless you all.
  7. Purchased and downloaded last night ... but unfortunately have to wait until tonight to fly it. Never the less I'd like to thank you also Javier, Chrismas has come early for me!
  8. Nice one Michael .. very detailed, might just have to do some practice on the heavies!
  9. I would really love a Huey .. I used to fly in them as baggage back in a previous life-time. I haven't been able to catch conclusive news of an X-Plane Iriquois, but Belsimtek are making one for DCS it seems.
  10. Why thank you my friend!
  11. No cold war from me John! We're just trading poster shots aren't we? Having said that I am indeed a cold war era guy ... I hope to see it soon on another sim I love.
  12. Go, go JRollon & Cameron!! I predict a shopping frenzy in the very near future. I'll hazard a guess that X-Aviation will be bombarded by people checking in to see when it's on offer
  13. Saw this posted @ X-SimReviews. Due January 2013. Exciting stuff.

  14. Indeed I have noticed that urinary incontinence appears to be a prevailing problem amongst flight simulator enthusiasts now that you mention it. Surely there must be some remedy in the offing, even taking in consideration the relatively small subset we make of the general population? Maybe there should also be warning signs posted around airports e.g. "Warning, Aircraft in the vicinity. You are approaching an area which is known to provoke the involuntary loss of bladder control." ... or ... legislation introduced for WARNINGS to be a-fixed to flight sim software along the lines of HEALTH WARNING: The Surgeon General has ruled that viewing pictures of simulated aircraft is hazardous to your health. Viewing and otherwise manipulating simulated aircraft can cause the spontaneous relaxing of the urinary pelvic muscles resulting in wet patches and overall embarrasment! P.S. I'm looking forward to this acf also, despite that I'm more drawn to regional twin turbo-props and as of late I've taken a real shine to helicopters! I never thought I'd go for being a rotor-head, but there ya go!
  15. rjmf22, it's a good shot but not as sexy as this lady ... by a long shot!
  16. Crap! I can't see the pics until I get home. Exciting times, thanks for sharing Cameron!
  17. Hi Airfighter. Thumbs up for the great work you're doing there! I'm very pleased that I discovered this 'upgrade' you're doing, and really looking forward to the completed product.
  18. Josf .. if you buy the MU-2, welcome to the X-P Moo Club! Of course there isn't one ... yet, but there should be! It's a brilliant acf, one of the best, I'm feel positive that you wont regret it. Cheers, Kris.
  19. Thanks for the response Tom. I'm a big fan of your work! I wouldn't presume to begin making suggestions for 2 reasons ... 1. You are a plane making legend in my eyes and ... 2. I'm a passionate hobbyist and not a real life professional in any aspect of aviation. Nevertheless you've inspired me to download Blender and try to wrap my head around it! It's frightening, and I have much respect for all those who produce so prolifically and artfully using the software. Cheers!
  20. Bother! Not so popular I see. That means that I'll probably have to have a go at it myself ... now that's a laugh! Could you help an old feller out and tell me if there's any copyright law that I'm breaking if I have a go at it using the stock C90 as a base? Or do I have to start from absolute scratch? Cheers!
  21. Have to disagree with you there Woweezowee ... It's great Carenado are making planes for X-Plane, but I always get the feel with them that what you get is "it" with their planes. I have the C90B they made for Prepar3D and hardly ever fly it .. because the simulating of systems is also not complete and the throttles, prop and mixture management is very stilted. Now the X-Plane C90B on the other hand, while being limited in terms of systems has an absolutely delightful "live" feel to those components I mentioned and it feels very "fluid" in the air. From a personal perspective, while I think the IXEG 737 is absolutely GREAT, I'm a small regional turbo-prop kind-a-guy at heart.
  22. The KingAir C90B is one of those planes with which I have an irrational love for / affinity with. I feel the same way about the MU-2. I'll admit that I'm a bit slow of the mark, but I was experimenting with the C90B in PlaneMaker yesterday and there in plain site (no pun intended) was Tom Kyler's name as it's creator (I've placed this post here rather than on the X-Scenery forum because the plane is a stock aircraft for XP10). No wonder I sez to myself! This plane flies beautifully and taxi-ing is a joy when you've worked out the best console settings for throttle, prop rpm and mix ... it's a dream because it's one of Tom Kyler's creations. However, in it's current state of development I'd consider it not finished. Tom, do you know if this aircraft will evolve along with XP10 into the hi-fidelity model that is it's true "unleashed" nature?
  23. Apart from the fact that we disagree on how it feels scripted .. I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about?
  24. It's definitely on the "want" (if not "need") list for me. Christmas is just around the corner, so will this beauty be ready for Christmas?
  25. Purchased !!! Downloading as I type this and I say, am really looking forward to this ... and comparing it to the Dash Q400 by FlyJSim (one of my favourites). Let's see ... there's JRollon's Jetstream 31/32, the IXEG 737 Classic and the MU2! This is the dawn of the X-Plane century!
