  1. I'll just add that at the edge of the envelope and *slightly* beyond we have implemented Level D simulator behavior. So e.g. in a stall you will get a similar behavior. Same with extreme controls deflections (rollrates, pitchrates, beta angles on engine out etc.) We also model drag rise and loss of engine efficiency at overspeed. M
  2. Ok guy's, lets move on shall we? HEY, didn't PMDG promise to release within 1st quarter 2016? Bastards! (Just kidding ) M
  3. There is no such thing as a perfect plane! There are bad planes, good planes and very good planes. Unfinished planes, half done planes and mostly done planes.
  4. I never get tired of looking at XP's lighting. It's just so realistic! Not sure if I counted them correct, but the 737 has about 18 (!) different lightsources inside the cockpit that you individually can adjust to your liking. Great way to waist time during a long cruise at night
  5. Yea, we tried that already in the early days of development. Restarting XP every time you do a tiny change to see if it works is a great time saver.....
  6. Where were you a couple of weeks ago?? I had a really hard time convincing the team putting me in there was a bad idea. Fortunately my camera all of a sudden stopped working *cough* ....
  7. Just a shot from todays flight. Descending on the STAR for ILS 35 at ENBR. Everything went as planned, no bugs reported.
  8. Heads up, As you have noticed we are a bit on overtime from our last estimates. Main reason was we had to port our code to the latest Gizmo version and finish the FMC. Thanks to great help from Ben R the switch went fast and was successful. The FMC is looking good now, everyone on the team are testflying it chasing bugs and Tom is working hard on finishing the final bits and pieces, increasing stability and functionality every day. We have set a target internal release date not too far ahead which we hope will materialize this time
  9. Transatlantic might be a challenge...
  10. Think I have already, but don't remember where Around 20 will be available for free at/around release, most of them you can see in the gallery at ixeg.net. The ones we have made so far are based on the location (country) of visitors to the ixeg website so that as many as possible will be satisfied. More "exotic" ones will be made after v1.0. Also we expect 3rd party painters to fill in the gaps pretty fast. Making a livery with the paintkit is pretty simple if you are used to photoshop. Personally I can do one in an evening or two depending on the complexity. M
  11. Just for the record, IXEG consists of Tom K, Nils D, Jan V and myself.
  12. As a sailor most of my life I'm used to back-to-basic map navigation and primitive equipment at speeds of 5-10 kts which is a big enough challenge in bad weather, poor visibility and complex waters . I have huge admiration for pilots who did this in hundreds of knots in similar conditions. Now you can just punch everything into your routing software or FMS in advance and just monitor. LNAV and VNAV is for cowards... (but probably has saved many thousands of lives)
  13. (In Norwegian) http://www.tu.no/artikler/derfor-har-wideroe-flyene-sebra-propeller/275876
  14. Doh.. we need to cut a hole in the cockpit roof...
  15. Sunset over the Norwegian mountains during LNAV/VNAV testing.
  16. Yea, from what I remember they can takeoff without flap... (only slat..) M
  17. At XPFW we considered it once, but after studying the fuel system with it's 18 or whatever fueltanks it uses to balance, we found something else to build
  18. Not sure I understand the question.. You mean like if you exit VNAV mode and use some other vertical AP mode that violates the speed restriction set in the box? My guess is this is one of the reasons real pilots don't use VNAV alot since ATC will mess up your plans sooner or later anyway
  19. It's there already (if the weather conditions are right) M
  20. If you are again referring to my "humoristic" comment about IP, I stated VERY clearly it was a joke! I'm sure you tolerate those in the US as well? And FYI I come from a country that is rated far higher in terms of freedom of speech than yours. http://index.rsf.org/# By all means, he has a right to be heard if that makes him feel any better even if the ONLY possible outcome of such blasts in public is possibly ruining the day for forum members and designers trying hard to finish a project we worked 6 years of our spare time on. So keep blasting away if you have nothing better to do and delay the project further, we have all the time in the world, this is our hobby. And, if you really mean what you say about respect and freedom of speech, you should also respect our right to answer back in a sarcastic and humoristic manner. Now lets get back to work
  21. XP's gear suspension model is pretty good in my opinion. The problem is - or has been - more that many designers either don't understand how it works or know how to find the real spring constants. The suspension consists of a spring and a damper, and both need to be right. Using XP default settings will in most cases give bad results because it is very soft, which will cause all sorts of problems - especially in a crosswind. So you need to use custom constants. XP's "wavey" runways as you say are a challenge though and one needs to compromise a bit on the damper to dampen that out. Having the right CG location is also a factor.
  22. And with those wise words by Len... an airline you probably havnt seen before
  23. *("Hey Cam, can you block the IP of *simeg* so he can't purchase the aircraft untill a few weeks after everyone else?")* (Just kidding )
