  1. Send me a shot of your SkyMAXX UI and I will make some suggestions.....
  2. Moto you may want to tweak your weather for more realism, I have a vid out there showing a pretty nice "low visibility" approach: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX0f2XBANyU For specific situations you will need to tweak the sim to suit your needs......
  3. HDR and SkyMAXX is on our radar.....We already have Bens ear and he is going to give us the ability to enhance our integration in the future, most likely during 10.30.... What kind of performance are you getting overall...... What location What add-ons & What plugins
  4. Much of that depends on hardware, many users are happy with SMP and HDR. So many variables at play here. Keep in mind you will also need to tweak the SkyMAXX Pro UI along with your rendering settings to optimize your setup....
  5. You want the "Grey Screen of Death" back? Well heck get the dataref editor and turn it back on...... I turned that off and let the community know it was turned off because almost everyone hated that feature....
  6. No consider high to be an experimental option, in hindsight we should of labeled it as such.....I can see a few things to improve upon with this option in the future.....
  7. Just a brief explanation as to what you are seeing here with the different overcast options... 1. Low --Uses a flat overcast layer which is frame-rate friendly.. 2. Med --A heavy dose of cloud puffs... 3. High --Ray-Casting clouds FPS eaters for those with high end hardware.... The Medium layer is affected by the view distance in the X-Plane weather dialog, so with less visibility you will have less cloud puffs, but as you can see from my screenshot there is a haze that thickens the atmosphere and in many situations you will be flying through some serious cloud cover.....
  8. Awesome! Now this is why I love X-Plane!
  9. Ok here is what I am seeing, it appears there may be an issue with the ray-casting overcast layer just buy looking at your video (setting high...from the SkyMAXX UI) it almost looks like a draw order issue but to be honest I cannot replicate the exact problem..... With the overcast layer set to "mid" and by using the same settings you provided I replicated this screenshot. Are you seeing something similar: The reason I ask is because I am completely puzzled by your last post.....
  10. Let me see what I can dig up here....give me a couple of minutes
  11. I am getting the same thing, best course of action right now would be to disable SMP, restore defaults to orbit the earth.....
  12. OK Moto I have a low overcast layer, slightly mid stratus layer selected..... Visibility is set to 6.7 sm: VFR Flying out of KBOS here is a SS of my SM UI settings.... This is a standard representation of overcast for many situations in X-Plane a low ceiling and low visibility with a stratified layer and an overcast layer.... Here is the resulting image: I tested and tested overcast made changes until I thought we had it right. Looks like a beautiful day in London right? Can we see if you can replicate these conditions and go from there.....
  13. Quick note, have you tried changing the overcast conditions to "Med" in the SkyMAXX Pro UI?
  14. Let me get home moto and we can work this out ....at work now and I do not have xplane in front of me
  15. My pleasure
  16. No red it doesn't. ...
  17. Yeah the SDK structure is 100% intact from Silver Lining, this is good for future fixes and updates..... Just wanted to clarify
  18. Yep you will be fine......
  19. you can create your own folder for those skycolors no need to put it into the default folder BTW
  20. Thank you for pointing that out!
  21. quick link: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/425789-some-questions/#entry2847115
  22. As far as the NOAA Plugin is concerned, since I am recommending this for SkyMAXX users, I think putting together a step by step for you all is in order. Just give me some time to get it together. As far as the draw distance of the clouds, the last thing you may need to try is increasing the draw distance from the SkyMAXX Pro UI that should fill the clouds in much better.....
  23. I am going to assume you are using the default real world weather? Depending on conditions they will disappear this is due to how the default weather engine works. It will have huge "holes" in the weather patterns. Not a bug it just isn't practical with SkyMAXX or even the default cloud engine. If you are going to use real world weather I highly suggest using the NOAA plugin which will not have the same effect....
  24. Im pretty sure the same results will happen without SkyMAXX, thats HDR guys......
  25. Of course, all good software is tweaked and features will be added To answer your question, give it a go I think turning off or dialing down any rendering options will increase performance overall.... I think the big ones are shadows, water reflections & world draw distance......
