  2. Well, it is in the manual - read it some two years ago... 13,000ft is the maximum altitude to start an engine, APU door to be opened below 300KIAS. Or so.
  3. Hi all! Just wanted to share the special day with you: Freeworld Airways has its 10th anniversary today! Being the first X-Plane only virtual airline starting out in 2004, many of you "older" pilots may know it. If you have been part of it in its history, jump over to the FWA forum and say hi. Cheers, Mike
  4. After a few restarts of XP9.7 it works again, both screens are alive now. Odd...
  5. Hi all, installed the CRJ200 version 1.4.5. on a iMac7,1 OSX10.6.8 with 3GB RAM 128VRAM only to find that the PDF and MFD stay dark, no matter what I do (ext. power, APU, engines running w/ generators connected, etc.). I reinstalled the CRJ200 to no avail. Gizmo.plugin dates back to 9.10.2013, CRJ200.acf dates to 2.4.2012 - is that causing the problem? I already repaired the file access rights. My parallel installation on a MacBook Pro with (nearly) the same specs still does work. Mirroring the HD with the XP9.7 installation to the iMac did not work. Is the graphics card of the iMac causing the problem (ATI RadeonHD2400)? I want to run 1.4.5 of the CRJ, because 1.5.x won't run on the weak hardware. Sorry for this vintage stuff question, but me is trapped on that very system. Unfortunately... Am clueless. Got ideas? Cheers, Mike
  6. Ha, ha, nice joke... Alienware manufactures the world's best high-performance PC gaming laptop and desktop computers.
  7. Hi! Am away from my computer, but I have some enhancement installed which make XP9 clouds even nicer. Just looked and there is another add-on around: Realistic Clouds X-Plane 9+ Have not tried it, but looks great, too.
  8. They are back for now, get 'em! http://thex-planepaintshop.webs.com
  9. Either too late or too early for fall... Woah, nice!
  10. The CRJ takes a bit more computing power than other aircraft - did you lower your settings to standard, too? I assume that you have the latest version of the CRJ. If the CRJ alone gives you trouble, did you remove all other aircraft and just run XP with the CRJ? Regarding the plug-ins, I was talking about the plugs you extend XP10 with.
  11. XP9 oder XP10? Settings of XP might play a major role in CTDs (crash to desktop), too. Standard procedure: start with no plug-ins, standard settings and try again. Add plug-ins and raise settings step by step. Painful, but a working way to get going.
  12. Ah, sorry, you got me there. Right - just use the old Navigraph 1109 cycle, it does the job just fine for offline flights. When flying online with IVAO or VATSIM, you should think about upgrading, tho.
  13. Is your XP nav dabase current (updates: http://data.x-plane.com)? If not, update and mismatches will vanish. Or use an older Airac when requesting a route with rfinder. Hope it helps. Cheers, Mike
  14. Well, we only can hope that 19yo Samen changes his mind when he is done with his current distraction... But from what I gather, the discussion in their forums was not really friendly. The way it sadly often goes with freeware and too demanding free-riders.
  15. Just try out the TrackerXP demo. Nice after you get used to it and fiddle around a bit. On my Mac I yet have to check the performance - with TrackXP everything seemed a bit slower, but I gave it a harder test (XP 10.22, EDDM, many objects, JAR A320, etc.). It should not be a problem with lower end free- or pay-ware aircraft. PilotView is another noteworthy freeware plug-in. A couple of pay-ware aircraft already come with a similar feature.
  16. Ah, thanks Andras, that is a workable solution and easy to communicate. And no need to defend Lego airports - I am on your side.
  17. That is just what I am afraid of. Just imagine you bought XP10, upgrade to 10.25 and none of the free (or bought) airport looks as it should. And I don't see that everybody (even the kneen XP users) dives into WED and goes zoning. Nope. The dev will update, sure, but many sceneries are very old (still OK) and the devs have gone for good. What then? Free distribution of a updated version would be impossible... It gives me nightmares know to have to download my 4+GB of scenery - and have to check every airport for updates. Isn't there a way to have XP10 disable default objects or a tile/area when a custom scenery is present? At least by an additional compatibility option? Cheers, Mike PS: In the meantime, who knows/has a little tutorial on exclusion zones to put up here for the interested?
  18. Ahh - no way everybody has to download everything again. And how should one know when a scenery has been fixed. Uhh... So will it work right when we edit the .ini?
  19. Ah, stupid me - should have checked the manual prior, the Airbus A319 wasn't better. And yes, out of its limits, too. I just wanted to recreate the 2008 incident. Man, those pilots did a great job! Blow an A380 in 45kts crosswinds...
  20. Hi all, I tried my very best to land my CRJ200 by hand and autopilot in XP9 at EDDH rwy 23 to no avail. I was using real weather, since we have a nice storm to practice with. The wind is at 29021G31KT, the gusts go up to 40 knots. Pretty severe I would say (like 2008 at 29028G43KT). In XP9 the CRJ behaves like a toy in the air and on the ground going sideways (45deg). I would like to know whether you are possible to do the stunt using XP9 or XP10 and different aircraft? Cheers, Mike
  21. Hey guys, thanks for reminding me of XHSI - wanted to give it try for a while (and reuse my ole laptop). Thats a nice budget home pit. Now I just need a plug-in for touch screens with knob manipulators etc. for a radio stack or the overhead... Does XHSI work with the CRJ200s custom plug-ins (or the 777 / JAR A320)? Cheers, Mike
  22. I own EDDF to KLAX. I gather that the idea is to view the flight over the should of a 744 captain. Seeing him land was quite interesting. The DVDs are IMHO aimed at the interested general audience. We (flight simming guys with a little more) might get a lot more info hunting good vids on youtube, I think.
  23. Great freeware aircraft - hope it will be supported in the future by the JAR guys.
