  1. Nope. It has never been open source.
  2. Any hope of getting the manual any time soon, or are things still a bit up in the air?
  3. It's not authorised for use on any network at the moment other than X-Flight server. (you can connect but get kicked regularly) It's the only thing holding me back from controlling on vatsim. Also, Ben Supnik who wrote the thing says it's dead and will not be developed.
  4. fewer objects and animations. more complex textures for the modern aircraft.
  5. Has not been working for a while IIRC.
  6. Excellent. Flying there now.
  7. Hey Simon, Do you mind deleting our email addresses out of your blog on the 748? Thanks Joe
  8. It seems cool. But the real money maker will be the first of these that ports to Mac as well as windows. Why only sell to half (ish) of the market?
  9. But not for Mac... Lame. *Yawn*
  10. If the manual is done any chance of an early release so we can study?
  11. and those satalite images are taken from the equivilent of holding your eye an inch above a globe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PaleBlueDot.jpg From this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of particular interest. But for us, it's different. Look again at that dot. That's here, that's home, that's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known. ~ Carl Sagan
  12. LOL. I can't believe that I ever banned you from the shoutbox. Must have been the errors of youth
  13. I am eager to see more of Hal's wit unleashed
  14. My thoughts and condolences to Japan. We are following the tsunami closely since we have flights operating in the areas where it might hit NA.
  15. From what I can see some texturing work still needs to be done, and IIRC the landing gear are not done yet. I also note that Jack mentioned needing to do some night lighting for the external shots as well as do some light placement on his FB page
  16. is this the in sim ATC or vatsim?
  17. This is the sort of disaster I joined the reserves to help with. I just wish there was a way I could come down there and help with the rescue efforts, but alas even if the CF does get asked for help I doubt I'd get picked to go.
  18. At least you will get a free trip to Hawaii
  19. Cameron, I was not referring to Goran's work but all of this stuff: None of which adds anything to the plane and if listened to would just tack on unnecessary development to an already behind schedule project. If Goran feels that stuff is missing from the overall SAAB flight experience (but is merely functional eye candy in my opinion) then it would be best (again in my opinion) to release it as a separate update instead of making us all wait for the whole plane for what again I will term as eye candy. I am aware that Goran's part is more or less complete and it is code work that is going on now, so once again I am not saying for him to not model a GPU, but suggesting that if he wants to add in extra code to make the GPU fit the requests above to do it as an update and not delay the core product for the sake of eye candy.
  20. Or how about we get that as a later add on so we actually stand a chance to fly the thing?
  21. Oh come now... VOR navigation is real easy! I flew across the country in the MU2 along the airways using VOR navigation since I can't be bothered learning how to use the Garmin. I might hack together a UFMC file for the SAAB though, at least until the B version comes out. (but really, it's not hard at all to navigate using VOR's.)
  22. I also posted a tool on the .org download manager that allows you to convert the lat long format into the x-plane lat long format and you can just edit your fix.dat file
  23. Add another vote for release the 3d model and use the proceeds to pay for a programmer. (like how Peter did with his A380)
  24. cool. Fingers crossed it's soon then.
  25. Did the final testing end up starting today? Very excited
