To calibrate the condition levers, you need to open the condition lever calibration utility in the Gizmo sidebar. The one major flaw in this is that you will have to calibrate it each time you open X-Plane. This is something we could not work around as it involves digging into X-Planes code and, as you know, that is not possible. Regarding starting from 3nm out from an airport...I don't know of ANY add on that uses a variety of plug ins that can do this without something going wrong. If you need to practice approaches, you could always do a circuit at your airport of choice and practice touch and go's. The tutorial, included in the Manuals folder, includes a startup section. We have also included a virtual checklist (opened using the Gizmo sidebar) which snaps the camera to the area where you need to be as you progress further along the checklist.

My pride isn't hurt at all. To be honest with you, you're the first person to say this aircraft is too hard to fly. I just think that saying it's a waste of money is quite a stretch. If you want to know what a waste of money is, buy something from Abacus. To address your issues... I can operate the Power levers with my throttle quadrant and I can use a separate axis with the Condition Levers once calibrated in the Gizmo menu. Rudder, ailerons, elevators all work flawlessly. The normal method of making condition levers is to use a default (generic) mixture dataref that is available in x-plane. We had to make ours from scratch to use a combination of mixture AND prop control. Not an easy task by any stretch. I spent many days, nights and weeks with Jim running through tests and modifying the flight model while Jim made changes to the code. In saying all this, landing gear, flaps, brakes, etc... all work. G raises and lowers gear. Flaps can be set by binding the command to a key or button. I'm not sure on the radios as I have gotten used to operating them using the mouse. I can't comment on other developers add ons or why they work flawlessly with your hardware. I don't have any of them and don't wish to speculate. It's not really that difficult to fly once you get a good flow going. Have you tried the tutorial? I made sure it covers many of the items needed in various scenarios of flight. If you just want to fly it, we implemented an Auto Start feature that gets you started. All you need to do is tune radios and set Condition Levers to Max. If we made it any easier, it'd be an Airbus.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and strongly assume you didn't really think this was a waste of money. Even though you mentioned it twice. We spent an extraordinary amount of time in making this add on as realistic as possible, and we had to overcome quite a few obstacles in the process. The throttle quadrant alone took about 3 months to code with the condition levers taking up much of that time. Realism is something the x-plane community has been screaming for over the last few years and we worked very hard to deliver. So, PLEASE, I am politely asking you to choose your words carefully. Before dismissing this product as a waste of money, you could simply start by asking for help in the appropriate forums and we can take it from there.

Left image is the steering tiller. Right image is Oxygen.

This is likely the friction on the landing gear. This has been changed for the update. In the meantime, if you know how to make the change yourself, change the "rolling co friction" from 0.185 to 0.123

Best bet would be to take it to a computer store and have it looked at properly.

First thing you need to do is check that ALL your fans are working. Especially the CPU and Graphics card fans. I once put together a computer and the fan was properly secured and was hanging off the 2 bottom pins with the 2 top pins completely detached and the fan not doing much cooling. The computer would die after booting up. Also, check that all fans are free of dust. You would be surprised how many people don't blow the dust out of their PC case, particularly the graphics card. I've seen some PC cases look like the cookie monster was stuck inside. Take the acrd out and really blow all the dust out of it.. Make sure you earth yourself before doing so. Static electricity to circuit boards is like a lightning bolt to humans.

Great aircraft, just one or two questions.
Goran_M replied to G-ERTI's topic in Douglas DC-3 (no longer in use)
I'll have to load it up and check these items you mentioned. It's been pretty hectic around me, so I haven't had much of a chance to really check the forums. Give me about another day. -
Check this forum topic.

Please download and unzip this file. Place it in your objects folder. Overwrite the old file if it asks you to overwrite it. Floats.rar

There are 2 crossfeed switches. 1 says CONN VALVE which simply opens a valve between the tanks and equalizes the fuel when flying straight and level. The other 1 says "FUEL XFEED" which pumps fuel from 1 tank to another. If both these switches are off/closed, your fuel is set unevenly in x-planes fuel and load manager. Your Power levers or Condition levers could also be set unevenly. If they are, the Power lever or Condition lever that is set for more power/RPM is burning fuel at a higher rate in the corresponding engine than the other one.
-
Check your crossfeed is turned OFF. It looks like you're pumping fuel from the right tank to the left tank.

I think I may have found the problem. I'll discuss with Cameron and see what we can do about getting an update out asap. Just an FYI, the landing gear being stuck in the down position when you raise it from the cockpit has no effect on the flight model. The ACTUAL landing gear of the flight model IS being raised. So keep flying as if nothing is wrong for the time being.

What I can tell you for certain is that it is definitely something with your X-Plane installation. While we're at it, I know it sounds silly, but check that you are running X Plane 64 bit. NOT the 32 bit version.
-
Ok, lets start with posting screenshots of the problem you are experiencing. Please post a screenshot of the DC-3 (float version) on the runway with gear down and one with gear up so I can see exactly what is going on. Please make sure ALL plug ins EXCEPT Gizmo are disabled.
-
Just run the installer. I think it asks you to uninstall the DC-3 first before reinstalling. After reinstalling, reinstall Gizmo.
-
If we can't replicate it, then there's nothing more we can do to help with the problem. The only thing I suggest is completely uninstall it and then re-download/re-install.
-
Not sure why you are seeing this gear problem. I suggest you go here and submit a support ticket.
-
Yes, you definitely have the older Gizmo version if you're getting a screaming loud sound when loading a sasl add on. You need to update Gizmo.
-
Ok, I just had a look at these issues. The gear DOES work as it should. The water rudder control is the same as the tail wheel lock control. I'll sort out the texture issue and we'll issue an update soon that corrects this, but pulling the tail wheel lock control WILL control the water rudder for the time being. I checked the sounds and I cannot hear anything wrong with them. Engines sound like they're spooling up in interior and exterior view. Re the gear and sound issue, it's possible you have an older version of Gizmo installed. When you are in sim, go to the top menu...click Plugins->Gizmo64->About Gizmo and let me know the version number. Goran

woah! Easy cowboy. You posted your first question at 7:11PM (my time) and then you posted this question here 13 minutes later. At this time of night, I'm eating dinner and relaxing, Theo is doing the same thing and Cameron and Jim, who live in the US are most likely sleeping. If you have a support question for the DC-3, you'll need to start a new topic in these forums and one of us will get back to you as soon as reasonably possible. Thanks Goran

Jim and I have discussed this at great length, and we would like to have it included in the Saab. We're going to revisit the idea when we get close to completing the Citation. No promises yet.
-
To add to Jim's post, yes, the military/radar variant DOES have the radar modeled into the flight model. The way it behaves in sim is up to the sim itself. Goran

Roger, We COULD make a clickspot to hide the yokes. I'll discuss with everyone and see what we come up with.
