  1. I'd like to see you land my 747-200 on that runway. ;D
  2. I actually cringed when I saw that first Sundowner landing. At least it never went down the mountain like the Falco and the 737. Does that say something about the Sundowner?

Feel free to scrutinize. I already did http://picasaweb.google.com/nicolas.xplane/787Cockpit?feat=directlink# Put it this way...I won't be spending my money just yet. :-X
  4. If Iron Man wasn't the first one on there, I would have banned you on the spot!
  5. I wholeheartedly agree. I'll think about posting the relevant information in the rant forum. Let's keep this section Sundowner video related.
  6. x-plane.org is slowly getting worse. Anybody who disagrees with their policies, will eventually get banned. As of yesterday, I was banned from their as well. And Theo will have his posts heavily screened by the moderators before being approved. I'd rather not say what the circumstances were as there are other peoples livelihoods I do not want to mess with, however, if the mods who frequent this site would like to know MY side, I have the emails from Nicolas (totally uncensored) and you can judge for yourself if the reason for my ban was justified. I don't want to get into the specifics, but it's just Nicolas being Nicolas. Anyway, back on topic, Simon, I'm looking forward to another video from you! Cheers Goran
  7. I'd have to see a close up of the join on the real aircraft. It appears to be ok, though. You will learn more through building. Keep going.
  8. Oliver Very, very nice!!! Thank you for making that!
  9. It depends on what it looks like. Many aircraft, 747-400 for example, have the wing smoothly merging into the wingbox, whereas the Sundowner I made, do not. It is good practice to make a wing, wingbox and fuselage, all 1 object and then split them each accordingly to make UV mapping easier but without ruining the shape of each object. Of course, you don't have to go that way if you don't want to. But it is the proper way to do it if it looks that way in the photographs.

  11. I've had a lot of feedback from people regarding performance on the sundowner. Namely, video card performance. We are in the process of optimizing the textures and reducing the resolution on many of them that don't need the higher 2048 resolution. This should ease the strain on some graphics cards out there. Apologies for the inconvenience! Goran

    Sundowner

Were you at a high altitude? If so, how was your mixture? Full rich will flood the engine at higher altitudes due to the thinner air. If you don't know how to set mixture in the Sundowner, please check the manual. There is a section on how to set the correct mixture. If you were at a lower altitude, your mixture may have been too lean. Who said this thing was too challenging to fly? ;D The 747 will have ultimate realism. I have contacted a retired BA 747-100/200/300 flight engineer to help me with this project and he is looking forward to seeing it fly and perform as realistically as possible. I told him to not hold back on the criticisms when it comes testing time. Sorry to say, the 747-200 will not be for the casual simmer wanting to hop in and take off within 3 minutes. Please, get back to me on how you get on with the Sundowner mixture setting.
  13. From Theo and myself, Thanks to everyone who took advantage of the Sundowner Sale, and also to the others that paid the full price. The sale took both of us by surprise by the amount of people that took advantage of it. Your continuing support is greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten. Thanks again! Goran

You have got to be kidding?? They put it on sale before it's finished??? Nicolas pays his developers on a monthly basis so it seems as if it isn't finished by end of June, Heinz misses out on money until end of July. Not 100% certain of that but that's certainly what it seems like. Will wonders never cease.

If your engine was at idle, you probably had carb ice. Pull the middle lever on the throttle console towards you and then continue trying to start the engines. Goran
  16. Thanks Oliver Stay close. An update is coming very soon. Just some small tweaks here and there and added aileron trim. Goran

    Sundowner

Of course. All updates will be completely free of charge.

    Sundowner

Rudder trim and elevator trim do work. Aileron trim has been added along with some extras in the flight model. Currently making ammendments to the manual and it will all be ready to download very soon.
  19. Simply Outstanding!
  20. If you get all that working, why not team up with Greg and you can license out your plug in work with his F-16 instead of giving out your work for nothing? Just a thought. Goran

Thanks for the comments, guys. They are very much appreciated! Goran
  22. Something you have to understand about payware, on top of it having to be as accurate as possible, you are going to have to spend money on documentation. Although X-Plane has a decent library of airfoils, it doesn't have them all. You're going to have to try to find documentation on the airfoils and make them in airfoil maker. You could opt to go the basic route and use a default airfoil and basic systems implementation. It all depends on how realistic you want to go with it. Goran

Yes, there will be custom sounds. (I love the sound of a turboprop spooling up from cold and dark!)

Underline "very close to a study sim" about 10 times. We'll see what we come up with.

The Saab is turning out to be more work than we originally anticipated. I just had my "technical consultant" over today for a good few hours and we went through A LOT. Over the last few weeks, as I have been animating and implementing the various systems, there were areas of the Saab I didn't fully understand. So I made notes and we went over them today. The Saab can not be made with straight out of the box datarefs. It will need custom programming for a few systems. The CTOT system, setting engine torque for takeoff, even the engine start sequence looks like programming work. We do have a rough time frame of finishing this, including the programming. But if we were to include a buffer and being realistic about it, I would say it will be at least 8 weeks at the bare minimum before it's ready. The reason we have taken this long so far was because Theo went back to completely re uv map and re texture everything and I chose to do animations from scratch. (Sorry Reuben). Not because Reuben didn't do a good job. But because the person testing it for me (Saab 340 pilot who wishes to remain nameless) came back and gave me a ton of feedback of things to fix. I figured it was easier to start again rather than fix things. Also, instead of just adding a small handful of plug in work, we decided to go the whole hog and program every system that needs it and use out of the box datarefs for the other stuff. Bottom line, this will be, at the very least, very close to a study sim of the Saab 340. Cheers Goran
