  1. Wow, astonishing! Do you have an ETA?
  2. Saw this article on CNN this afternoon. Gives a very neat and interesting timeline of historic aviation events. http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/innovation/06/13/aviation.history.timeline/index.html?hpt=te_bn1
  3. who is "these guys"?
  4. This is an issue that X-Plane has had for a while, and there is nothing you can do about it other than maxing out your settings. In addition your computers screen might have a low pixel density.
  5. If you have a Mac, his installation instructions should work as well.
  6. proud to say I actually managed to land it
  7. whoa, were did they get the XPv10 preview ?
  8. Mid7Night, regarding my post about the cockpit: Now that you have posted those screenshots above I take back my accusation. The switches and navigational equipment from those angles look very nice, and the screenshot at the .org is misleading. However, its a shame that there is no textured floor to the cockpit. Nonetheless, my apologies. I looks way nicer than conveyed at the .org! I think we can all agree there is quite the visible difference.
  9. Not NASA's, but IMB BlueGene . With 360 teraflops, you can have like 10000 of Peters A380 flying over Paris with interminable FPS
  10. thats the FlyTampa TNCM scenery. its a converted payware..
  11. pinch me, i think i'm dreaming! In all seriousness, Morten, that looks absolutely amazing!
  12. So you are saying that just because there are new improvements the sim should cost more. That would mean, since MS2000 cost 62$, every consecutive version should have an increased price. Even if that price is only 10$, FSX would have cost nearly $100. FSX costs around 30$ depending on what version you buy.
  13. MSFS has been successful on the market for a longer time than x-plane, giving them a "head-start". Also, high-quality MSFS development teams usually consist of more than 5 members, allowing them to work faster and release products in more detail in less time. Quoting the PMDG home page, "PMDG is a global business with employees and contractors working in Canada, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Russia, South Africa and the United States. " X-Plane is very close to getting there, if were are not already .
  14. Vatsim flight from Philadelphia (KPHL) to Boston Logan (KBOS) in the x738 in American Airlines colors.
  15. The newest .org release - the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk by Mid7night for a price of $20. Quoting the .org homepage: "The A-4 Skyhawk is the very first commercial release by Ben Harber, aka Mid7night, our famous Community Leader and active contributor. 4 Variants of the A-4 Skyhawk Virtaul cockpit Many features" I scanned throught the pictures and the exterior doesn't look half bad. The textures are a bit bland, but the 3d model and looks are fairly well done. However, the "3d" cockpit looks more like a brown pit with 2d buttons and displays. In my opinion, its not worth $20 but would have been an outstanding freeware model. Also, note how "virtual" was spelled in the description . I would like to know what all of you think of this plane, and if you have bought it, what your thoughts are. Cheers, FlorianR link to plane: http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=284
  16. Hey Goran, I found a better prespective in case you want to start modeling already. But no rush, you still have 7 days until I get my new Disk 1 and I can start flying again. Happy modeling !
  17. This guy clearly doesn't get the point of the argument. Lets just stop relying to his posts. Nobody agrees with him, everyone knew the hardware test was to test if the computer was compatible, and I think everyone but a few people agree that the CRJ is a revolutionary product to the X-Plane community, despite its few glitches here and there. Also, if you can run the SSJ and Peters a380, you must be able to run the CRJ. Quit lying, its getting you nowhere.
  18. I'm not saying Macs aren't great. As a matter of fact, I think Apple products beat Windows products in so many aspect from design, to displays, to the innovative new technology. Macs are awesome for everything else but vector simulations like X-Plane. Windows simply allows for faster and better graphics. Love Mac, love Windows, even though Apple takes from your wallet noticeably.
  19. Do those PC's include a top-notch LED monitor? ...doubtful at best. true, true...
  20. no, but during the installation of disc 1 i got several error messages, maybe contributing the fact i cant update.
  21. I just contacted X-Plane.com customer service and they told me to turn my firewall off. No still positive results. Maybe this is because of a bad installation. I got several error messages while installing and so I ordered a new copy of Disc 1 today. Hope still up !
  22. Lance, we all speak english well enough here. No need to act spanish
  23. Hhmm, did as you told me, but still no luck. Does anybody know if the servers are down, maybe?
  24. Hey Guys, its me....again I bought a new Hard Drive for my Macbook Pro a couple of days ago, and replaced my old one with it today. I re-installed Mac OSX 10.6.7 and X-plane 9 from the CD's. After the installation finished, I downloaded the Updater for Mac, opened it, and located my X-Plane folder inside the Applications folder. I then clicked continue and the Updater told me its contacting www.x-plane.com to find a update server. That screen stays there and nothing happens, no matter how long I wait. I tried it with the "beta-box" checked and unchecked. Also, I have perfectly fine internet connection. Is anyone experiencing the same problem or are the servers down at Austin's website One off-topic question. I recently scratched my Disk 1 pretty badly because I moved my laptop while the CD was spinning. Do i have to buy a new copy of X-Plane or can i contact Austin and ask him to send me a new copy if I send him my scratched copy? Thanks, FlorianR
  25. That's very sad to hear. Condolences to the families of the lost ones. Two crashes in two days....
