  1. Give me another day. I still have another source to check out. Things aren't always as they appear.
  2. As Hamlet said, "Ay! There's the rub." There appears to be a history with this guy.
  3. There is most definitely a lot more to this story than the OP is leading us to believe. I don't think it is appropriate to discuss it further in this forum. If it smells fishy.....
  4. You do realize I'm joking, Goran. Right?
  5. I get the feeling there's more to this story than we have been presented. Only Dan can tell us why he responded the way he did in this case, but knowing Dan the way I do, he must have had a reason other than being in a bad mood. I agree and I assume he did. PilotHudson says he checked with the org to see if Dan did indeed check on the purchase which someone at the org verified. We have no idea what Dan was told, thus we don't have any basis to make a judgement. Again, I think we are missing some information. Way ahead of you on this. Thanks! Not just because he's a friend of mine, but because I hate seeing anyone upset with any type of purchase, whether it be Carenado, X-Aviation, the org or any other vendor. I just happen to have a bit of an "in" so I will see what I can find out about this issue and help in any way I can.
  6. As long as it has the same SASL version as the MU-2 and the DC-3 it should be good to go!
  7. Sounds like some sort of cyber glitch. I have no idea how the org records purchases, whether by IP address or by e-mail address, but it appears there is some sort of mix up that wouldn't be Dan's fault. All Dan can do is rely on the vendors' records, whether direct from Carenado or some other vendor. I know of one other developer who was recently contacted for support by someone who had a pirated copy of his aircraft. The plane had been "given" to him by a friend and he needed some kind of support. When the developer queried him about the purchase, the guy said "Oh, I didn't buy it. A friend e-mailed it to me." Brilliant! Obviously no support was offered and a strong reprimand was given. I understand Dan's concern and his terse response given that he can't find a record of the purchase and for all he can tell you could have a pirated copy of the plane. I'm not accusing you of this, I'm merely trying to look at it from Dan's perspective. Since it's a fairly new purchase it could be that the appropriate records haven't been created yet. But as I've said, I have no clue how those records are created or kept. I'd give it a few days and maybe do a little more research into the issue and find out why the purchase doesn't show up on Dan's end.
  8. Spot on, Tom! You nailed it. I especially like "there are folks who claim they want accuracy but then complain when they actually get it." I think you're right about the "knowing it's there" part, too. I think a lot of X-Plane development stops at the "good enough for general consumption" level and I'm not saying that's necessarily bad. You guys work hard and long enough doing what you do and you have to weigh the cost/ROI factor.
  9. I believe some of the Carenados do actually have working circuit breakers. I think it's the 152 and/or the 172. I'm right there with you wanting more depth in the systems for GA aircraft.
  10. Wait....can you really call it "working" at Oshkosh? Regardless, have a great time at AirVenture 2013!
  11. Definitely! Certainly the G1000 in the Corvalis counts, but as far as "jump in, turn on the battery, the fuel pump, mixture full rich, and press the starters, then your off" part, the Corvalis is pretty much the same as any other X-Plane aircraft. I didn't realize the "systems" being referred to were instrumentation. I thought maybe full implementation of startup procedures (priming and choking) and correct fuel flows, etc, were the type of systems he was referring to. But come to think of it, all the real world planes I've flown have had pretty simple startup procedures. Prime, magnetos on, turn key, engine starts, check oil pressure, check oil temps before take off, etc.... Obviously it is a little more involved than that, but you get the idea. I think Carenado, as well as most payware developers, do a pretty good job simulating the oil pressure, oil temps, CHT, EGT, etc upon startup. I was referring to their X-Plane products, not their FSX offerings. Hopefully we'll see some more "systems" implementation when those models are brought over to X-Plane. As for the GNS 430, I hope and pray someone, someday will produce an "in panel" GNS 430 with real world functionality. I know there are Garmin add-ons available, but not for Mac. At least none I'm aware of. I could easily be wrong on that. For the way I use the GNS430, the stock model works okay for now.
  12. Well, consider the planes they're modeling. What "systems" are you referring to? Not a whole lot of them to model in the GA aircraft Carenado makes. However, I don't know any other GA aircraft developers putting any more "systems" into their planes, other than the MU-2 if you want to count that in the same GA category as Carenado's offerings. As Carenado adds to their X-Plane fleet, they've been adding additional features like the Aspen in the A36, which nobody else has. As they get deeper into X-Plane I think you'll see more and more "systems" modeling. Keep your eye on them. If you're a real systems junkie, you're probably more into the airliners and more complex aircraft anyway. You probably wouldn't have much fun in the low and slow flight gang that Carenado appeals to.
  13. This one is definitely 64 bit. You can check on the V2/64 bit update progress here: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=68492&page=1
  14. Just got an e-mail saying Carenado has released their Cessna C340II for X-Plane. It's only available directly from Carenado right now, but should be available at all the usual outlets within the next couple of weeks.
  15. This looks interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7W73SXgR-4c http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=60025 There are several virtual airlines that fly the EMB-120, including Air Northwest. Not sure who the original author is/was.
  16. Sounds like an issue with your ISP. I'm on a 5 year old MacBook Pro and the site works just fine from Montana. Have you tried resetting Safari? Which browser are you using?
  17. The website was listed in the credits at the end of the video: http://simheaven.com Nice job on the video!
  18. Don't shoot the messenger! Just sharing the info I copied off the org forums: Carenado has just released its 8th update for X-Plane 10-64bit: the free v2.0 update to its C185 Skywagon, as well as the payware expansion pack to convert the base v2.0 C185 into a full-fledged amphibian, float, ski, tundra, and cargo-pod capable aircraft. Most of these modes, as well as wheel fairings and lower door windows, are features that can be enabled or disabled on the fly, and are remembered for next time you take the plane up. For every existing client considering purchasing the expansion pack, please purchase it from the same outlet you bought the original v1.0 C185 from, and only purchase the expansion pack after having successfully updated your v1.0 version of the C185 to v2.0, as the expansion pack will only work with the v2.0 of this plane. As with all v2.0 Carenado updates so far, the base pack update to v2.0 is a major free update, and is recommended for all current C185 owners. This plane, as well as the bush expansion pack, is compatible with 9 X-Plane platforms (v9.7, v10-32bit, v10-64bit, on Mac, Windows, and Linux), and feature overhauled sounds and lighting, enhanced user interface, X-Plane 10 optimizations, and many further improvements and tweaks, that make this a major update. The easy-to-install expansion package represents an exciting breakthrough in on-the-fly customization in X-Plane, and is bound to give bush flight enthusiasts many hours of back-country flying fun. Even hydroplaning is possible with the Tundra tires!
  19. Eww....yep....sorry....have to agree with Cameron on the music. But the vid is good with the sound off.
  20. I see I'm not the only one scanning the X-Aviation page several times a day lately!
  21. You can search the forums yourself. There are a few. My point is that my post was NOT a formal announcement. The way I found they were released was by another Carenado customer posting at the org that he had gotten an update. Nobody at Carenado told me they had been released. I got the information the same time everyone else in the world got it. The aspersions I'm talking about are your obvious, and somewhat sarcastic, attempts to cast my posts in a negative light. You have made several attempts to call into question my motives, intentions and integrity. I have made no personal attacks on you or your products and yet you take it upon yourself to display your disdain for your competitors by making posts like this. Tell me, what exactly do you think a beta tester's "responsibilities" are? Should they be banned from sharing their opinions? If so, then should not the very developer be banned from promoting their own product in these forums? Who better to be an evangelist for your product than someone who has tested and experienced your product? I have not reported any of my "findings"or "prior to release information" in these or any other forums. I have expressed my opinions and thoughts AFTER their release, never before. I only report my test findings to Dan and I withhold any posts until a product is released. If you think I don't support other products, ask Goran about the time I posted a livery for the Duchess at the org that resulted in a small boost in sales. Don't tell me I don't support other products. I own 9 out of 14 of the X-Aviation aircraft products and I always speak highly of the models I own and am familiar with. Am I partial to Carenado products? You bet. I own every one of them and I can send you screenshots of my receipts if you want absolute proof that I have purchased every single Carenado product I own. I have posted my opinions about Jason's aircraft several times in these and other forums. I still think Jason's flight models are some of the best out there and I'm not afraid to recommend his products. I've also shared my opinions about X-Aviation aircraft. You can search my posts for yourself. Again, am I partial to Carenado? Yep! But certainly not because I am being compensated or have any ulterior intentions. I like them because I like them. I own Mac computers because I like them. I own Nikon cameras because I like them. I drive a Toyota 4Runner because I like it. None of those manufacturers have ever compensated me, either. But, I gladly support products I believe in and I am as big an evangelist for Nikon, Apple and Toyota as I am for Carenado. You, and others, apparently have issues either with me or with Carenado and probably any other "competing" products. I'm not the only one to ever make some kind of "announcement" about a Carenado product in these forums. You can do the search yourself, but I know of at least one other member who "introduced" a Carenado release. Am I biased towards Carenado products? You bet!! That's pretty obvious. No, I am certainly not without prejudice. You got that exactly right. Am I saying Carenado products are "better" than any other product? NO! I've never said that or insinuated that. If I thought they were better, then why would I bother buying other aircraft from other developers? Do I love the MU-2? You bet! It was my very first payware investment! I flew the Sundowner the perimeter of the US when I first bought it. Took me a month! The very first livery I did for a payware product was painted for the Sundowner and my second livery was for the Duchess. I really don't get what's bothering you, Jim. Why does it bother you so much?
  22. When there's something to announce, I might just do that. And your point is? Carenado does indeed send e-mails to their customers when they make their formal announcements about new products and updates, but they also rely on good old word of mouth. I'm sure within the next few days Carenado will be alerting their customers concerning these latest updates. My post was in no way a formal announcement and was only intended to be "heads up" to other Carenado owners on this forum as well as other forums where I have made the same post. The latest updates haven't even been formally announced at any of their other retail outlets, to my knowledge. Let me state again that I do not and have not ever worked for Carenado. I have not been compensated in any way by Carenado or any of their employees. I am not acting in any way in or on behalf of Carenado. I am not a spokesman for Carenado. I have paid for each and every Carenado and Alabeo aircraft I have. I think I've made my intentions clear that I am only sharing information. I am not seeking any form of compensation and I have no hidden agenda. Why you insist on casting aspersions is beyond me. My relationship to Carenado and Dan Klaue is as an end user beta tester. As such, I test new aircraft and updates to existing aircraft by flying them as any end user might fly them. I am not a programmer or developer. I just fly them and look for issues that might arise. Obviously, I don't catch them all, but I'm getting better. By the way, did you know Jason Chandler has updated his Piper's (now including the PiperJet) and they have been updated for V10? You get 15 planes for $15. http://www.c74.net/xplane/fx/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=593 I have no relationship with Jason Chandler, other than we both live in Montana and I own most of his planes. I have not been paid or asked to make this post on his behalf. Intent? Just sharing the info.
