  1. Hey, Shrimpy!, As of now I'm not aware of any solutions available for this, but do agree it would be nice! If anyone does find something I'd be very interested as well!
  2. I can't speak for everyone here, but given there aren't many payware developers who create orthophoto scenery, I'd have to wonder who you speak of. In regards to RealScenery, no the imagery is not obtained through Google, and it is legal. It's a very expensive and tedious process. You could probably answer your own question fairly easy...open up some of the suspect imagery and look for the google watermark. It's all over g2xpl images, though not easily seen in the air.
  3. Hi, Maxime, Yes, this is possible. Should you have any issues with your licenses when you receive your new machine the proper place to discuss and make requests for this is here: http://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/contact_us.php
  4. No, the color map is not present at this time. For a complete listing of functionality on the G1000 simulation, please see the following: http://www.x-aviation.com/landing.php?cid=65675630566e77673e2c5f3d4f
  5. Perry, There's no reason to assume this aircraft will cause your computer to "act funny" with the CRJ. Whether it slows down your FPS or not is dependent on your hardware, and not on the fact that you are using a Mac.
  6. Hi, Shrimpy!, Welcome to the forums! That's certainly the beauty of flight simming! Great practice for real world pilots, fun for those that can't afford it in real life, or can't fly for medical reasons. I look forward to hearing and hopefully seeing screenshots of your rotor adventures in the coming days.
  7. Hi, Justin, From an external perspective standpoint, nothing looks much different than has been seen in progression shots and videos thus far. As we get closer to release and enter the beta test phase you'll begin to see screenshots and videos presented here in great detail. Until this time, everyone's patience is greatly appreciated as refinements and further progression is made!
  8. Hi, Gene, Are you grabbing the knobs and moving the mouse left to right or vice versa while still having the knob grabbed? These use manipulators, and are not click spots. Just starting at the bare basics first.
  9. Hi, Simon, State packages are traditionally 5 meters per pixel. With the introduction of Enhanced scenery packs and NORCAL, the scenery is 1.5 meters per pixel, and looks very good at the altitudes you wish to fly at.
  10. Perry, We certainly appreciate your enthusiasm for the project. However, as has been more recently stated to your previous request for news, we are choosing to focus on development and getting things done than to worry about continual by the minute updates at this time. As we get closer to release we will surely update this forum. Please understand this. Thanks for your patience.
  11. Hi, Dan, Yes! You're right! Thanks for that catch. I'll be fixing this now for future customers, and then we'll get a patch out to all current people with a couple of other minor things. Thanks for that catch!
  12. Hey, Kieran, Thanks for that! For those interested, the topic in question is here: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=45541
  13. Hi, Dan, It most certainly appears you're missing textures here. Perhaps do a re-install? The file that would contain these textures is: circuitbreakers.png
  14. Thanks! Keep us updated!
  15. Hey, Markus, That's definitely a weird one. There is no plug-in that would be causing this issue...and as you said, Gizmo is not even on this aircraft, so that's also one less thing on the list. Can you confirm...does this happen on every flight for you? That would be wild if so, and not just a one time hiccup with X-Plane. Thanks for any info!
  16. The Beechcraft Sundowner C23 has been released and is available here: http://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=56 As a result of this release, this forum section has been changed to a Read Only section. No new posts may be made here. If you'd like to discuss the Sundowner, please use the new Sundowner support forum located here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?board=99.0
  17. No. Not at this time.
  18. Hi, Tom, I have taken note of this too, and I'm sure the REX guys will look into it. I am running the same operating system as you, and anytime I quit REX, it quits completely. Looking at the task manager, I see nothing about REX running at all.
  19. Hi, David, Many of the products up now are from similar/same image sources. We have discussed this some in the past here, but to put it short...the products are that way by choice, you could say. It's not a limitation of X-Plane, however, with the varying imagery colors throughout, coming up with a routine that would color correct further than what had already been done (it was a lot of color correcting already) was producing uneven transitions of colors. Additionally, X-Plane has a tendency to contribute a lot more light in midday situations sometimes washing colors out, but we are working on ways to overcome this. With that said... RealScenery Northern California is due to hit the market soon, and is a product of a little more than a year in development. We wrote many pieces of proprietary software to achieve new and better results in many areas, including night lighting, color correcting routines, and a new source of imagery for the product. It's much more vibrant in color, and a great joy to fly around. This will be part of the enhanced line of products, and will cost slightly more due to the added work and development time vs. a regular RealScenery package. You can find out a bit more on Enhanced products here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?topic=532.0 and more finalized screenshots here: http://www.realscenery.com/flash_galleries/ca/norcal.html

    Heinz 787

Great! Then this discussion is over! You're a good man, no doubt. I look forward to seeing your contributions and enhancements to this product. One would most certainly think so, right? Given that he does have the backing of Boeing, I'm anxiously awaiting the final product and taking her for a spin. I'm assuming the systems will be nothing short of superb through the work of a plug-in to get it all right according to any Boeing spec he has. Have a good night, dpny! No harm, no foul!

Without stepping on too many toes... It's not Morten's job to go around passing data that has been given to him in confidence. It's not easily found for a reason. I do know, without a doubt, that the material that XPFW has on hand is often times sensitive enough and requested to not be shared to outside parties on behalf of those whom provide it. Even on the XPFW team alone, there's only a select few allowed to access the information. Heinz stands to make money off of this product. He can do his own research and requesting should he feel the need to, but given he's indicated he doesn't have the data in question, then he's made the decision not to do so, or can't get access to it for whatever reason. I do appreciate you coming forth and admitting your affiliation to this project. It makes sense you would want to protect it. In the end, we'll just have to see the finished piece. Best of luck to you and the team. I look forward to purchasing and reviewing the product!

    Heinz 787

What is the proof for this? All I have seen is some speculation here, which has spiraled into personal attacks on him. Morten, if you really don't like putting down other designer's work, and are truly interested in a cohesive X-Plane community, you could always offer to help Heinz out with information he may not have. Actually, Heinz has directly stated the product will be quite pricey "because it is licensed." It's not speculated. I have no real motive to want or need to find the post, but it's in the 787 thread in the aircraft development forum (I believe) where Heinz has stated this. Check it out if you wish. That said, Heinz does some good work overall. I like a lot of his GA planes. I do believe that as of now given the hints of a pricey product by Heinz himself, that this would indeed be an out of proportion cost. Of course, the 787 isn't finished just yet, so there's room to improve what has been seen. I know your interest is more into the flight model and not the "pretty" side of things (as you've previously stated), so we'll chalk this up to a "everyone's taste buds are different" situation.
  23. This topic has been moved to Island of Oahu. [iurl]http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?topic=833.0[/iurl]
  24. Good plan. Look, you don't have to convince me of anything. I'm a Mac user. To put it even further, so is Tim at REX. Let's put this to rest please. It's an aimless debate that doesn't apply to us in the same way it would majority. Porting and figuring out a way to get it into the Mac side does not scare us. Ensuring there is a good ROI for the investment is the key part in a project like REX. Some companies and people work differently. In the case of REX, it's a matter of viability. As we're the only one's who know the actual sales numbers, it's up to us to decide what is and is not worth investment in time. Fow now, the best thing you can do is stay tuned. REX is here, their ideal idea is to stick with X-Plane. If they do so, you can bet that includes supporting Mac. Again, viability is key at this point.
  25. No one is alienating anyone. I would suggest you not even go there. To put it bluntly, REX is a windows based program that is testing the waters in the XP market. If they are to invest money in development they need a worthy ROI. You can bet everything that if they are satisfied in any way with the way the Windows sales have been, then you'll be seeing a Mac version. They've already publicly mentioned it's in the process of being looked into (just like Greg did, mind you), and I'm pretty confident we'll get there. Cool down. What you need to understand is that Greg Hofer didn't have to do much to port his plug-in over to Mac. When it comes to aircraft plug-ins and compiling for cross-platform it's relatively straight forward and easy. REX is a bit more complex in that it's a PROGRAM in itself...just like X-Plane is a program. They understand, and sympathize. So much so that they are working to look into the work flow of Mac programming and porting. It's okay to say X-Plane.org This is not all REX is doing. It is one of the core features it does, and not with just one small texture set. They are MANY different texture sets and it's not even worth comparing to anything freely available. This was factored in when a price was set. No one is here to rip people off. There's a list of features and descriptiopn at: http://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=55 In short reading: "Our Intelligent Synoptic Weather Processor looks at over 20 different weather data elements to determine the best weather conditions and enables you to inject into X-Plane the correct texture representations according to current weather conditions. In REX the ISWP influences ALL textures. This gives X-Plane an even more realistic look and feel. With the ISWP the weather conditions are more true to life, giving the user control over weather influence ranges. With the ISWP using over 20 weather data elements we can give far greater detail to the weather in X-Plane." and "Included in REX for X-Plane is a tool named WASys, (Weather Avoidance System), which allows you to view the current, real-world weather. Within the WASys, you may view an overlay of Radar, Storm, Turbulence or Icing." If you wish to read more, I suggest you read the description of the product from the link above.
