  1. I just meant (reading the website linked to from the first post) that the ability (as opposed to actually doing it) would differentiate version 10.8 and later of the FMS from previous versions (where it's simply not possible). It may be that I misread and that's not a new feature introduced by the 10.8 update though.
  2. Most likely a much older version, AFAICT you cannot arm VNAV on ground on the IXEG.
  3. It look as though her temperament makes her an alpha
  4. Yes but the latest Fantastic Four movie was pretty abysmal…
  5. It's probably reproducible, but you have to make sure to use Slim Fast, unless you have access to the Ant-Man suit
  6. My first long-distance flight in FS2002 back in the day, I was 14 with clearly poor fuel planning skills… I ran out of fuel on short final at KLGA
  7. Hi, I'm surprised to see you didn't try this on Twitch yet - I gather you may not have X-Plane yet? Not that I want to pressure you, I'm just looking forward to such a stream Your take would be especially interesting since you have flight simming experience, and (if I am not mistaken), you fly a 737 Classic in real life? Regards, Tim
  8. I guess this is described simply enough in the FCOM (e.g. section 11.31.x). I always learned that Boeings should be flown with manual speed control below 250/240 knots, now I wonder whether other addons (like FlightFactor) implement this It's a very convenient feature and one of the reasons I like Airbusses, but it turns out Boeings are seemingly just as good in that regard.
  9. Cool stuff, and they only had like 2 issues during the whole setup, not bad at all
  10. Cool, thanks. Where would you recommend I look regarding documentation about this feature (as implemented in the 737-300) (like, in addition to the FCOM), and/or do you by any chance know which hardware/firmware combination is simulated for the control display unit and underlying FMS system?
  11. More specifically, I referring to 11:45 onwards (and 15:00 onwards), where the FMS gradually commands a target speed of 150 knots, I wonder whether this is approach-specific (restrictions in navdata) or an FMS feature triggered by one or more conditions
  12. I don't have the plane yet (no point in buying now as X-Plane Desktop will not run on my iOS device), but enjoying the various streams and videos so far. One thing that surprised me was how the FMC seemed to manage speed during approach, in an almost Airbus-like manner. I was under the impression that the FMC would take care of the 10,000 feet speed restriction and also protect from stalls snd flap/gear overspeed, but that any slowdown beyond 240/10000 would have to be initiated 100% manually. I will watch the video again when I have time, but IIRC when getting closer to the runway, the FMC automatically started to slow the plane down to under 200 knots (but waiting for flap extension to avoid stalling etc.). Was there a specific speed constraint in the approach that triggered this, or does the FMC do this on its own when a certain distance from landing is reached (kind of like the approach phase on an Airbus), and if so, where can I read more about it (I assume an FCOM, but which version and chapter, if anyone remembers from memory)? Regards, Tim
  13. Fine, aged Gruyères?
  14. So it's completely unrelated to the 737?
  15. So early this morning, the forum was offline, apparently the forum software was being upgraded. Why???
  16. FWIW, the X-Plane 10.30+ Garmin does neither SIDs nor STARs, only final approach + transition Not sure about the real unit.
  17. Just a quick reminder after reading the last few posts; i.e. it's not about pricing or whether one supports more addons than the other, but a technical difficulty for which the fix/workaround has been postponed until more important issues are addressed.
  18. I assume that in order to implement features such as FMC performance assistance and cost index support, you do have access to the data required for much more precise fuel calculations? If it's possible, it might be nice to share it with e.g. SimBrief, since they don't have the data to create a detailed profile for the B733 yet: http://www.simbrief.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=42
  19. <pedantic>I thought it wasn't going to be in v1.0?</pedantic> Thanks, this should help having the correct equipment in SimBrief plans, too
  20. Apparently yes, it's possible even on a mobile GPU: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-980M.126692.0.html
  21. Fair enough
  22. Oh dear, AFAIK LVL D is what the GNS430/B757/B777 databases are based on, and thus also what my tool attempts to use, so now I'm triply curious, you wouldn't have an example of the issue I could look at please?
  23. Yes but I do want to think about it, hence the "out of curiosity". But I guess my real question is, which of Navigraph's packages started to have weird mid-file syntax changes not too long ago? Don't really care about the other, presumably trouble-free format
