To get the audio you have to enable speaker volume for the comm1 & 2, look at captain's left side panel below the side window. There are a series of sliders. Crank up the 2 sliders on the left upper corner of the panel. They are labeled COMM1 COMM2 Text atis is an xplane feature. Go to settings->sounds->enable text atis

i do remember to have seen fall this year from a post of them.
-
ok got it. It doesn't matter if it is useful or not. You do not have any technical background on ils. It should be there because you see it on FS2004/P3D/FSX (which are all the same by the way) and you like it. I recommend you to open a feature request ticket to Laminar to explain them they must mimic MSFS because that is the world standard. Entirely disagree, in the real life all that information is part of the ils procedure chart not a nav map.
-
What you mean? the ils radial will always be the same than the runway heading otherwise will not be aligned. It could differ +/-5 degree max. why? the runway is not 05, the runway could be 046 to 055 and would be named 05. but the ils is a preccision instrument and will be tuned to the real runway orientation whatever it is 046 to 055. it could not be smaller or bigger than that because 045 or lower will be named 04, or 056 or bigger will be named 06. that is why knowing the radial is not important at all to just intercept an ils without a real life ils procedure. The aircraft will follow the ils radial no matter you know the radial or not. It is not a VOR that putting an incorrect course will lead following the incorrect trajectory. Hope this clarifies, or maybe i missed your point then.
-
again this is a map and the purpose of the map it to show your aircraft against your selected navid. You if select the VOR it will show you the radial you should follow to reach the vor if you choose an ils it will show the heading to reach there if you choose an airport it will show you the heading to reach the airport. The map on xplane is not a repository of procedures. Sorry you don't like it. I am still curious what valuable information provides you the radial without the ils chart? Or, what you can not do by not having the ils radial there?
-
this is not illogical at all to me. this is a MAP, so the idea of the map is to provide you a reference from you current position to the navid you have chosen. You point the aircraft indicated heading and you will arrive. If you do not have the chart you enter the airport on a left or right pattern (if you know how a pattern works) and you intercept the ILS, you do not need to know the radial at all to perform a non realistic ils approach. I understand you want to see the radial, but understand this is a simulator, and it is called a simulator for a reason. People that would like to train an ils a approach must have a chart. just to my curiosity, why is vital for you to see the ils radial on the map? what provides you that information for a non-real approach?
-
the localmap is just that, a map. lets suppose the localmap shows you the ils radial, then what you do next? to make an ils approach you need a lot more information on real life. you need to know where specifically/fix to intercept the ils, the altitude, category, allowed minimums, the missed approach procedure, etc. etc. etc. to make an ils approach you need the chart. now lets suppose you do not care about learning a realistic ils approach procedure, then why do you need the radial? the radial will be always the runway orientation +/- 5 degree deviation maximum, so to intercept the ILS you just set yourself on a heading course to intercept the runway trajectory, once you pickup the ils signal you start following the ils localizer. This is not a VOR, it doesn't matter what radial you have set on the course (CRS). You are not performing a realistic ILS approach anyway. just my opinion edit: spelling

SSG Boeing 747-8 Pre Release Video.
mmerelles replied to Carlos Garcia's topic in Aircraft Development
This is a payware aircraft. Never was freeware -
Due to piracy, most paywares have a number of install restriction so aircrafts can not be redistributed. You should wait for them. Nobody can give you a solution but their support. I presume they will validate no piracy infringement has been made (every different hardware install generates a unique id) and reset your install, they may require you to explain why you need more

yes, operating airports that have no pre-defined gates of your liking would be an issue, 3 tips that may help on this: 1. adding a gate at a geographical location within the airport of your interest takes 2 mins on WED (xplane editor) WED offers you a graphical representation of the airport, you clic a gate object at your desired location, you rotate the gate object to make the aircraft nose always point to your liking when loading, you put a name for the gate "cargo" and thats it. You save it. You may add several gates if required. It is really simple and fast unless you do require to configure too many airports. or 2. load the aircraft cold and dark at the default airport position, then you may drag the aircraft to your desired location within the airport. Go to localmap, use your mouse to drag the aircraft icon to the airport area of your interest. You can rotate nose heading as well. or 3. you may save a situation, but when loading you have to reconfigure the aircraft from scratch to assure everything gets ok. And the update coming from the developers to override any pre-set issue on the CLs may help
-
my recommendation would be not to save situations at all over complex paywares, because most of the operation is carried over external plugins and xplane will not be able to restore the aircraft properly and many unexpected behaviors will arise no matter the aircraft "seems" to be fine. if you do not enjoy too much the pre-flight and engine startup procedure (this is the most i do enjoy), use the saab proprietary auto-start feature to speed up things.
-
-CUSTOM VIEWS: xplane has a feature which is named "quick looks view" which allows you to save up to 10 custom camera views per aircraft. I.E. captains view, copilot, main pedestal, overhead panel, etc. they may be external views as well, wing, fuselage, etc. Any camera view of your liking to save a view press: ctrl + numkeypad[0-9] to use a view press: numkeypad associated you can update/override views at any time note: in case you are a mac user let me know because numkeypad doesn't exist and i can let you know how to change default xplane key combination to save/recall views. -CL vs PROP Condition levers is a whole different thing than prop, thus SAAB uses is own external plugin to simulate the SAAB 340 CLs, condition levers are not supported by xplane natively. Prop axis is a while different thing. If you assign a prop type axis to CLs you may have any unexpected behavior and inconsistent results your desired hardware lever axis must assigned to none, and they must be assigned to the CLs via the saab proprietary menu. Unfortunately xplane does not support any class study sim, otherwise the simulator should understand how every system of every manufacturer works in real life. Thus complex payware developers simulate their systems over a plugin. Because the plugin is an external thing, when saving/loading xplane situations complex paywares may have unexpected results because xplane will not know how to restore the plugin status and its systems precisely. hope this helps edit: misspelling

i tried starting xplane cutoff position, nothing assigned to CL levers, loaded SAAB, assigned CLs vía Saab menu index 13 and 14 as usual. Aircraft engines fired up normally.
-
i did some testing playing with fuel cutoff/mixture but unable to reproduce the problem. Both engines fire up as expected at all times. -i did open a dataref window to monitor, the saab set mixtures properly no matter how they were -i tried playing with the mixtures assigned to a handlebar before, during and after engine startup and it does not affect how CL operates. -i did played pulling the CLs with the mouse and with the external hardware assignment, worked as expected. Sorry guys nothing helpful here to understand this mystery.
-
never happened this to me :S but the symptoms look like a fuel cutoff problem due to external hardware or another aircraft shutdown prior to the problem arises. I have couple ideas to check, i will test tonight at the sim and report back. Can you confirm to me: When this problem occurs, did you already made another flight (no matter what aircraft was even the saab itself)? or does this problem also occurs first xplane load and the saab being first flight?
-
I have a vague idea i have experienced this a few times in the past long time ago and i realized it was due to me engaging accidentally the FD + A/P while still on the ground, so the systems will command the control surfaces to reach configured ALT (elevator full up position trying to climb) and full left or right deflection (aircraft trying to turn to HDG bug interception course) Once this happens, the control surfaces doesn't go back to centered position disengaging FD & A/P, you have to take off for clearing up the surfaces configuration. Seems to be only a "esthetic issue" because the aircraft rolls, climbs and flight perfect. Once you re-engage FD & A/P the problem vanishes. I am not at the simulator at this time to test my memories vague theories now, the developers may have a better clue.

yes the generator will not come online to take the load if the GPU is still active, this is by design, you should disengage the GPU from the overhead center panel to transfer the load to L GEN. You know the L GEN is working because once you fire it up no alarm is raised, otherwise a master alarm + sound + LGEN fail will illuminate. So 1. turn on left engine 2. turn on/reset left gen, wait a few seconds 3. disengage gpu for load transfer, disconnect gpu to clear the wing 4. initiate right engine startup

I do not know anything about FSX/P3D Carenado's, i do run XP only. But i can tell i do own several Carenado's for XP and while their texturing/lighting, eye candy in general is great, their system modeling, procedures and aircraft behavior are not there by a large margin Eye candy wise Carenado's and LES's are on par to me. But you should get the LES Saab 340 to see what a class study sim is all about and if you already own any XP's Carenado then you can answer by yourself. Short answer: you should wait, trust me.
-
A small observation on your checklist procedure, but quite important on real life. You never put both engines running and then disconnect the GPU, because the GPU connection is below and close to RIGHT engine prop and the ground personnel may get seriously hurt or killed during operation. You have to start Left engine first and its generator, monitor left gen is producing electricity and ready (takes a few seconds) You disconnect external power on the overhead panel to transfer the load to l-gen You notify ground personnel to disconnect the GPU (hands signal, un-check the gpu on the simulation) External power available light extinguishes on the overhead panel Ground personnel make signals back to you it is safe and clear to initiate R engine startup procedure and you confirm. note: you may check real life procedure link below 04:22 L engine running, L gen reset/on, external power disconnect 04:24 Disconnect hand signal to ground personnel 04:31 external power available extinguishes (seems ground personnel disconnected the GPU) 05:22 ground personnel cleared the wing and notifies pilot, pilot confirms R engine (2) startup procedure. hope this helps
-
That is because this is simming. You turn on electricity, engines, systems and your are on the air in 5 minutes. You can asume all systems are operational, you can assume nothing will fail, and there is no lives involved. If something goes wrong you start over. On real life, you are required several steps prior to engine startup & takeoff 1. Pre-flight, you need all the systems running to test them properly. This process is critical and takes time. 2. Communications, atc clearance, you need the radio systems working and tested as well. you need to perform all atc communications to get your clearance and authorization you do not turn on the engines, if you are not sure you are ready and authorized to make the flight. 3. Once you are authorized you put the engines up & running. note you turn the avionics off momentarily not to get them fried on a voltage spike. this aircraft does not have an APU like big jets to keep electricity going and smooth during engine startup.

this is based on the camera angle, if you are too zoomed in it will move slow, move the camera back and it moves great

Hi LES team Could this be a potential bug or my fault? When NAV R is engaged you loose all NAV1-VOR information (DME/COURSE) in the primary display. But when NAV L is engaged you have both NAV1/2 VORs information on the display. Previous version showed up both NAV VORs 1&2 information on the display no mather what NAVL or R was engaged Having both VORs information is quite important to know when to transition and to set desired course for NAV1! See attached pictures: NAV L engaged vs NAV R engaged edit: misspelling

have a close look how x-assign works, description, workarounds and usage. if you assign saab cmds to buttons you will loose them upon reload. You have to assign them to keys as well to retain them. And in such case xplane re-arange numerics ids you are done and there is nothing to be done yet. this is not a saab issue. http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=12551

be sure i will get it once available no matter what, o really support this product because it is a big improvement over default clouds. just wondering what to expect. I do have the latest imac 5k retina full config (32G, 4.0 Ghz intel, amd m295x 4G vram). i think we mac guys need that "metal promises" to multiply our performance 4 times

John SKMP3 is looking really impressive. what we may expect in terms of fps (better, demanding, the same)? i am already on the limit with v2 doing several compromises already on the settings.
