Even though this country isn't big, the climate is very different from north to south. I'm near Trondheim (ENVA, Værnes if anyone wanna fly there) right now. It has been snowing for over a week non stop, until today. The total amount of snow: 1,2m - on top of what already was there! But only a few hours south of here (by car) there's no snow. The grass is getting greener and they are sunbathing. Most truck drivers probably know this climate the most, and aren't prepared for the sudden changes. In the small town I grew up in, there was several days I couldn't get to school, because the only road was choked by one or more trucks, stuck in either of the two hairpin corners. Between these two was a steep hill. Even though there are multiple pockets near the foot of the hill with big signs for "TRUCKS, SUIT UP! WEAR CHAINS!" and warnings about x % climb, looks like none of the foreign truck drivers give a damn.

Came across this one on Facebook.

Imagine the phone call the tow truck guy had with his boss... Good thing both survived, and the truck driver with minor injuries.

It's true for both. The MU2 and the Heinz.

Wow, that's a rich experience.

Will try this when I get home from work!

It's a frame rate increase for me. They must have done something to the clouds. I can have a higher setting (even though I'm happy with the slider at about 40%) without any significant frame rate loss.

I've never had AI sounds. Neither in XP9 or XP10.

My first incredible flight sim experience began with MSFS2004. It was the King Air B200 from Aeroworx. I flew it for hours! When I tossed the simulator after some heated debates on a forum, I was so sick of the whole simming community I was part of. But almost two years later, I found a video on YouTube of a heavy plane landing. I was speechless. You could see the weight and force of the plane work as the landing gear touched the ground. I instantly ordered it. Happily, I was tipped about a new plane coming for X-Plane 9, and I was thrilled like nobody else. It was the MU-2 I've never heard of it before, nor seen such a plane - but the visual quality was enough for me (yes I love eye candy!). Constantly following the road from A to Z led me into refreshing the MU-2 website many times a day. And then! Suddenly it was released. It made a good impression on me. Flying with a yoke, a throttle quadrant and such made the experience real for me. Adding an iPad to the lot to control radio stack, check waypoints and such is a great way to get more into the sim. I fly short hops like Tom here. 2 hours tops. Now I enjoy any twin prop plane really. I don't know what it is about them - they have me under their spell. The Duchess and the Dash 8 are great planes too, and worth every penny.

Huh? Did mouse wheel throttle work in XP10? I never got that to work.

I hate to take on to the forums, but after two attempts to get in touch with X-Aviation, I want to see if this will catch their attention - or the users attention to see if I'm the sinner here who didn't pay attention. January 1st, we all got an email about a big sale, and that the Javelin would be available for free for those who purchased the CRJ-200 during this sale. Those of us who'd already purchased it would also get it for free. It said something about "until January 8", and "this will be sent to you automatically". So did anyone get an email about it? I couldn't see it was available for free in the web shop either. The same day I responded to the email and asked how we would get the Javelin. No response. January 23 I had some other questions and tossed in a question regarding the Javelin again. I got my answer for the main question, but not a word on the Javelin. Did I mess up, or are we a big bunch who didn't get the Javelin as mentioned in the newsletter? Now, if I indeed messed up, I think whoever writes those instructions in the newsletters about free stuff should make it clear how one should proceed to claim what they were promised.

I wish it could drift a little, so it would be easier to make nice POV video clips. It's too stiff now. For those of you who used to fly XP9, you know what I mean when I compare it to the free view. The more I move the mouse from its center where I right-clicked, the faster the camera will pan.

When I ordered XP9 (directly from Laminar), it came in paper sleeves. One for each disc. I must say I wasn't impressed by that. I was rather "what the heck?" Yet, the sim behaved very well so I didn't care about it after that point.

Thank you. I see no point in making videos of a 10 minute approach and only 5 seconds of the juicy stuff: the landing. I like to make it more like what people are used to see everywhere else, like in film and TV. This one is becoming a new favorite for sure. I like how it handles during descend and landing.

Take Command! CRJ-200 Version 1.4.2 Update Released!
OlaHaldor replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
You should go to X-plane.org to get the product updated then. -
I've got it, and I really like it. Maybe this video may be of help for your decision too? I'm no hardcore simmer digging into tons of system simulation and all, but I'm learning more and more, slowly, one step at a time. If there's one thing I can kick on now is that the 3D shadows in XP10 doesn't look so good when you're in the cockpit. Flickers a lot.

I don't know if you can see this abroad, but here's a video as part of an article in one of the major news papers in Norway. It shows a Dash 8 100 (??) in a very rough landing. http://www.adressa.no/nyheter/nordtrondelag/stjordal/article1765085.ece

Great stuff, Tom.

I fly mostly VFR - trust me - those three sliders were golden. The one slider is making the sim dumber than it needs to. Of course, there's users who doesn't want to or might adjust, or understands what settings do what and how much loss (or gain) of performance this will give, but I'm certain the majority liked having three sliders instead of one. I had different settings for all of them to have a populated sky with the number and size of clouds I felt was OK for a mix of performance and visual eye candy.
-
Guys, it was a joke. I hoped you would see the irony.
-
But why do you complain about it? You're clearly OFF COURSE. Maybe XP is punishing you for it.

I made a few screenshots. The frame rate went down quite a bit as I zoomed out to a wide angle like this, but I think it was necessary to show how the clouds change at the different percent settings. The file names are 20, 40, 70 and 100, which is the percent used. Then there's an image of the clouds set up for the screenshots. The time I went from 25% to 100% must have been with real time weather, because I didn't have too much clouds, rather light and natural for that area really. But with big, thick clouds as in this screenshot, I preferred flying with 40% unless I'd choke my system. http://www.olahaldor.net/scrap/20.zip

I have no issues with clouds and the new clouds slider. I went from 25% to 100% and lost about 5-8 fps when I was flying the Carenado Bonanza. I can live with that, though I prefer staying at around 50%
