  1. Thanks for the explanation.
  2. Okay, I admit I've had a bit of bourbon tonight, but I'm still going to pose the question. If cloud shadows work without SkyMAXX, but with SkyMAXX installed they don't work, how is it that it is not within your control? If Laminar can create cloud shadows why can't you? I'm truly curious. Not trying to argue or offend, but truly curious. I've read through a bunch of the other SkyMAXX threads, but it is still unclear as to why SkyMAXX does not, or cannot, produce cloud shadows.
  3. Any time you adjust elevator trim while the autopilot is engaged the result is the autopilot is disengaged and you get what you call "a great unwanted attitude change." This will happen whether you use an external hardware trim wheel or default keyboard commands or click and drag with the mouse. Sorry I can't give advice on the GoFlight gear. I have all Saitek gear.
  4. Nonetheless, it seems the topic is still relevant. There are many topics that are just as well left buried deep in the bowels of the forums, but I see no harm in this one being resurrected.
  5. Does this only happen with the Saab? Just curious.
  6. Check out products from FSWidgets. http://fswidgets.com
  7. "...on a regular basis?" What are you referring to? I've looked through my posts and I see predominantly helpful and courteous responses. I did not call Tom stupid. I said it made the post look stupid. Maybe stupid is the wrong word. Regardless of your command of the language, when a word is incorrectly used it makes the post look silly and takes away from the meaning of the post. I think we've all, at one time or another, been the victim of bad auto-correct or "fat fingers syndrome. Nobody is immune to typos. With that said, I too appreciate Tom's posts along with all the other non-native English speakers' posts.
  8. Calling something "stupid" while incorrectly using the word "to" when you clearly meant "two" does not exactly command respect for your post. It kind of makes the post look....well....stupid. Simply my opinion.
  9. Hmmmm…..are you sure that's not an Otter?
  10. Indeed! But seriously, the documentation is pretty good and should answer your question. I have several fsWidgets products. My favorite is the iEFB. You just need to set up a Dropbox and put your flight plans, charts and plates, manuals, weather files into folders in your Dropbox folder and link it to iEFB and it works beautifully! Good luck! Get back to reading that "flight" manual!

    Beginner

First, have you read the manual? Seriously, that's where I suggest starting. Then, take a look at these links: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showforum=83 Getting Started and Configuring X-Plane http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showforum=82 Flight School http://stoenworks.com/How%20to%20Fly%20Flight%20Sims.html How To Fly a Flight Simulator (I recommend sending Hal the small amount he asks for to purchase his DVD. Lots of great information about real world aviation along with the flight simulation stuff.) X-Plane is not a "game" you can just boot up and be flying like an arcade game. It is an FAA certifiable flight simulator. Be patient with yourself and take advantage of all the resources available. Remember, Google is your friend, too!
  12. I doubt there is any complete "worldwide" list of ILS frequencies, but you can download information from sites like this: http://www.airnav.com For international airports, I just google them one at a time.
  13. Or PilotEdge….
  14. Precisely!
  15. I have to disagree with this statement. If that were true, then why would Laminar offer an X-Plane only version of the app for $9.99?
  16. Xavion has to be connected to an ADS-B receiver to display weather. Not sure if or how that can happen with X-Plane. http://xavion.com/app/hardware/
  17. Umm….I don't think Xavion does anything with weather even in the full version for real world flying. It's an emergency airport finder. But this link might be of help to you: http://xavion.com/wp-contentuploads201308xavion-manual-version-1-21-rtf/set-up-x-plane/
  18. Check this out:http://fswidgets.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=60
  19. Can you say "stolen?" Can you say "intellectual property copyrights?"
  20. Actually, I don't think you do "got it." You posted previously in the thread saying you didn't understand how dead (it's actually "ded" which is short for "deduced" but the general population insists on writing "dead") reckoning works: So, in response to the above post saying you didn't understand how it works, Hueyman proceeded to post a lengthy explanation (see post #29) describing "dead" reckoning. Hueyman understands dead reckoning and I'm sure he has the "thang" of it. He probably has the hang of it, too.
  21. Here's a link for the real world R66 Pilot's Operating Handbook for all you Alabeo R66 fans! Lots of great info on the Robinson site. http://robinsonheli.com/r66_poh.html
  22. You make those assignments in the Settings>Joystick and Equipment menu....normally. I just noticed you're asking about the Saab. I only assume it's the same as I don't own the Saab. Sorry I replied without noticing which forum your question was posted in.
  23. Have you tried contacting Jack directly? He doesn't hang out on these forums much anymore. Drop him a note at volatilisjackal@gmail.com or go to his support forums at http://flyjsim.ipbhost.com I think you'll have better luck contacting him directly.
  24. I'm well aware of that. I can read. I made the remark because the plugin was developed a long time ago for V9.
