I had the same issue. what I did to resolve my problem was I emailed the X-plane team.. they provided me with a link where I picked what DVD I needed to buy.

reminds me of the 4 attempted flights I tried to do this week but ended up with either x-plane crashing or troubleshooting me about scenery. 4 attempts to do YSSY to KLAX!!! 4!!! (and one yssy to nzaa which also ended up as a fail! worst week )
