  1. Didn't Ben mention some OpenGL changes at some point?
  2. Kk
  3. One request would be plenty of presets, as someone who likes pretty visuals but has a child's understanding of how colours affect each other...
  4. Good work Tony! This will get rid of one of my big bugbears with OSM autogen.
  5. It looks and sounds just incredible. Unfortunately I just can't enjoy flying in a 2d cockpit. Is there really no way at all you could partner with someone who can do the 3d work? I have a feeling it would sell like hot cakes. Very popular hot cakes at that.
  6. (minimum) 9 months is a long time to wait but will keep a close eye on this one. If you could show some cockpit texture screenies when they're ready (doesn't need to be the whole cockpit) that would certainly help me keep a purchase of the Harnassor on hold. Mentioning things like rain effects / cockpit reflections would help even more:)
  7. I'm happy to spend a few extra dollars on a better looking cockpit, spending about 95% of my simming time in the VC as is my wont. From a personal point of view if you plan to populate your VC with realistic textures then please please please do, it'll be an automatic purchase for me. One of the most popular GA planes for FSX was (is) the Real Air Lancair Legacy because it's fast, feels good and looks damn good too (one of the most plausible cockpit environments for me because of the cockpit glass). The Panthera has a similar vibe to it so I think if you can make a good one it'll satisfy your professional pride as well as making some tidy beertokens as well. But please do make a decision and stick to it. Better to cancel it all together and perhaps inspire someone else to take it up rather than have it in perpetual back-burner status.
  8. I'm very interested in the Panthera but I'm a bit disappointed in the cockpit textures of the Harranssor version. They don't look any better than the textures he used in the (admittedly excellent for freeware) Eclipse and not really up to recent payware standards (ref. Carenado). Having said that Mat yours looks like you've gone back to the drawing board so presumably it's going to take a very long time to get released?
  9. Quite the opposite, one of the best investments I've made yet in simming. And I pride myself on being a picky bugger. No it doesn't. Apart from the first comparison pic of real clouds and AWG clouds, all the other pics look barely better than default, or basically the same as default. I am interested in their sky colours, but their clouds can't touch SMP's. I only wish there was a way I could invoice you for the collective five minutes or so of my life I've wasted with your insanity on these forums.
  10. Just to satisfy my curiosity, was BleedAir one of her accounts?
  11. You might feel the frames taking a hit with your VRAM, even with the lower texture version, but if you can turn off some other stuff to compensate it's an excellent study plane so worth the punt now if that's what you're looking for. I wouldn't expect to be able to get "above 25fps all the time with most settings maxed" though. (Really? All other payware with 1.5GB VRAM and settings maxed?) BTW, if you're the same HarryCYUL A.K.A. BleedAir recently banned again from the Avsim forums, you should be aware that the Saab won't improve XPlane's weather rendition. :) :) :)
  12. I see what you mean. Having slightly 3Desque textured snow does make a huge difference but the current maps do look a tad 'busy'. Have you seen the snow / ice textures in MS Flight? They did quite a good job on the mapping. I'm not sure on the scale of this WIP but would things like snowy road / runway textures be possible? (Although this might not be necessary if LR get dynamic snow to work as they said they're considering) More of a long shot I guess if you haven't got access to water modifications, but iced over rivers / lakes? Ice floes in coastal waters...? Just trying to manage expectations...
  13. That's what she said.
  14. Very happy to see this. Getting a bit tired of perpetual summer.
  15. I'm not sure how XP draws its textures, or how big one sheet is, but is it possible to represent rock strata? That's one of the things that really struck me about the Grand Canyon when I went there. So far the only sim I've seen it done in is Hawaii in MSFlight, which did it pretty well.
  16. Thanks. The occasional update with what's happening, good or bad, can go a long way to keeping the punters quiet. Particularly me.
  17. Agreed, perspective is important. Like when you mean 'there's as much chance of you getting this update before Xmas as me winning the lottery', how about you say that before Xmas, rather than "shouldn't be long now". How about you don't bandy about phrases like "within the next few days" in the original post when here we are, nearly 3 months later and still you don't feel it necessary to explain why we don't have the patch, just pop up now and again to say 'you don't understand what we're doing', or 'Daaaaah, just kidding, I was being ambiguous and so I could've meant soon, or I could've meant like, not soon". I really like what I've seen of the plane so far but poor frames mean I can't use it as I'd like to. I really like your attitude to quality and I'm sure there are all sorts of laborious issues that keep cropping up that it's not worth anyone's time to detail, and I'm also convinced X-Aviation's overall commitment to customer support is strong. What annoys me is the growing impatience the devs are showing with customers who have waited beyond what the initial post suggested might be the time frame for a patch to make the plane usable to expectaions, without thinking it might be a good idea to keep the customers abreast as to what's going on with the patch.
  18. Of course. You and your habit of knocking up quick cynical pictures/edits to embed in threads would have no idea who would put this together:) Agreed, that one should be everyone's bedtime viewing. On a side note, frankly you're as bad as each other when you want to be with the snide swideswipes, but as long as you knock together a half decent add-on in the meantime, who are we to complain... Now where's the frickin' Saab update?
  19. Excellent news Goran, cheers.
  20. So any chance we're going to get this before Xmas boys?
  21. In common with virtually everyone who's bought the product, I'm enjoying the clouds to a degree that some might consider unhealthy. Really good work. But I do miss their reflections on water, so if there's any way to get them back without (too much of) a framerate hit, that would be wonderful. If you could also get the ground shadows back, well I don't think I need to spell out the effect that will have...
  22. This'll be another automatic purchase. I know it's really early days, but how about a winter camo livery?
  23. It seems unrealistic to expect LR's small team that has to cover everything to achieve similar texture variation to ORBX's much larger team that only focuses on scenery, but I'm totally behind the drive to press somebody to have a go at serious regional (and seasonal) textures. Given how good XP10 can look in the areas it does well, particularly with OSM, even closer focus on regional specifics would be stunning and would surely be a licence to print money even with the current market, let alone attracting a huge new following. BTW Nicola, the default mesh of XP is not bad at all, and AlpilotX's HD free meshes seem much more detailed than anything I ever saw in FSX.
  24. So, six weeks since announcement and erm...still no update then?
  25. Yes I did call Ben a dick. I did that because when presented with two possibilities; 1) Froogle is a well-intentioned vlogger trying to get some free stuff to show Xplane in the best light or 2) Froogle is a freeloading shyster trying to deprive hardworking devs of funds just to make a name for himself and buy himself more expensive headphones, Ben chose to read intention 2. Now I do regret calling you a dick Ben, that was ill considered. I have no proof you're a dick 24hrs a day but on this occasion, I read automatically choosing to believe the worst of someone as being a dick. I should have used present continuous and not present simple. Hope that's clear. Cameron you spent a long time defending Ben and little to no time asking for objectivity about Froogle. You may feel that because others objected to Ben's posts that job was done for you, but there were also some posts supporting Ben so I don't buy this for one minute. And as for being off centre? As the topic starter I feel a bit better qualified than you to talk about its intention, and Ben dragged it so far off centre he went into the bushes with it to give it a kicking. As for devs who would like some exposure but are wary of the risk, here's a suggestion. I will use my November add on budget to buy a copy of your plane for Froogle. If you can confirm a purchase of your plane from someone watching his video of your product, you can give me a voucher for a future product here. I'm not a rich man so I can only do this win one plane, and ideally I'm looking at you Saab Goran, MU2 Tyler, and JRollon
