head_check Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 In the directory "sound" was found the files with Saab verbal altitude messages. 1000 feet, 500 feet..... howewer is function deactivated it is possible to make it's active? Quote
JGregory Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 (edited) Those files have zero content (for a reason). The (real world) Saab DOES NOT have altitude callouts, so we will not be adding them. Edited April 11, 2016 by JGregory Quote

I do not know the CRM rules for European crew and for anouther world, but in Russia the F/O (if the control is by Cap) translate altitude at landing.... I will make this voice for me, that is the habit Edited April 11, 2016 by head_check Quote
Goran_M Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I can see why you would want to have this added, but our aim was to produce an aircraft add on only, with systems replicating the real thing. Anything further, such as a virtual co pilot/first officer, is up to a 3rd party to make. Quote

Its is a function of the TAWS system, most commonly seen is the Honeywell EGPWS. Depending on the operators requirements/needs/wants it is capable of quite a lot of call outs. Almost all of the following are capable with a honeywell EGPWS 2500, minimums minimums, minimums, approaching minimums, decision height, approaching decision height, 1000, 500, 300, 200, 100, tone alert at 100', 80, 60, 50, 40, tone at 35', 30, 20, 10. The standard callout for every SAAB 340 operator I have seen is the "500" call mmerelles is correct that the Leading Edge Simulations Saab 340 does not have any callouts programed in. ^wolf^ All of this is operator specific, the LES guys may have studied/modelled an aircraft that had all the callouts turned off. Many operators in Europe, America, South America and Australia have the 500' call as standard *500' call at 1min 28sec Edited May 20, 2016 by ^Wolf^ Added video time. See * Quote
JGregory Posted May 20, 2016 Report Posted May 20, 2016 The Saab we modeled was based on the factory manuals, which do not include any callouts. If there are aircraft in the field with this capability, it is optional equipment and most likely added after the aircraft was purchased. Quote
Cameron Posted May 21, 2016 Report Posted May 21, 2016 The video used for reference is a more advanced cockpit and shows the B variant of the Saab 340. This is a different aircraft than the Saab 340A. Quote
JGregory Posted May 22, 2016 Report Posted May 22, 2016 Wolf, That page is part of the optional TAWS system, which is above and beyond the GPWS system... not a "standard" feature. Quote
^Wolf^ Posted May 22, 2016 Report Posted May 22, 2016 (edited) Ahh, correct you are. Optional it is. Interesting article from Saabs Wingtips magazine regarding TAWS. Regulation forced fleetwide implementation of TAWS in the end. Hope I didn't waste too much of your time. Good work on the arcraft guys. ^wolf^ Edited May 22, 2016 by ^Wolf^ Quote
