Fab10
Hi,I am considering purchasing the LES Beech Duchess, but I would like to determine whether the wingspan has been corrected? Some users report that the span is 20' instead of 38', and this can be seen in pictures. Can someone please let me know if the wing span of the LES Beech Duchess is correct in the latest version (1.3)?Thanks,Fabio
Goran_M
I'll have to have a look at the specs and the flight model to make sure. If it IS incorrect, I'll get an updated file out.
Fab10
Thanks Goran. You mentioned the wings in a previous SP comment if yours, and others have spoken of wingspan concerns. I await your comments. Beech Duchess: Length 29' Wingspan 38' Edited August 17, 2014 by Fab10
Fab10
Hi,Is there an update on this?I may well be wrong about the Duchess wingspan, as pictures and videos can be misleading, so a final comment would be useful for current owners and future buyers. Otherwise people may have to make an assumption. Thanks,Fabio
Goran_M
I've checked the diagrams I used when I made the flight model, and they match up when overlaying the flight model from Planemaker with the diagrams. I'm going to follow it up but I need to get the documents from the airport where the Duchess is parked.
marcc
The wingspan is 38' as per the POH.http://mesziair.hu/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/1978be76.pdf Everyone can measure it in PlaneMaker. The way I like to do it, is to make a misc wing that has the correct length and place it over the aircraft. PS: I don't have the Duchess.
Fab10
Thanks all, it's appreciated. It's just that many if the JPG's and vidro's make those long thin wings look too short outboard of the engine nacelles. I have a huge soft spot for the Duchess, and I'm looking forward to owning it.

Cameron
Hmmm…..I'm confused. If you don't have the Duchess, then how did you measure it in PlaneMaker? That wasn't the Duchess he measured against. It was an example aircraft to show his case.
ointment
That wasn't the Duchess he measured against. It was an example aircraft to show his case.Got it. At first glance, his opening sentence leads us to believe he has measured the LES Duchess and is assuring us the wing span is indeed 38'. After your clarification and further study, I now get his drift.

ointment
I actually tried to open up the Duchess in Plane-Maker 10.25 and 10.30b8 and I get an airfoil error. Not sure what to do from there. I may have missed an update somewhere along the line. Edited August 24, 2014 by ointment
ointment
Okay, got my Duchess updated and installed and I've followed the example. So does this mean the LES Duchess wing span is incorrect?

ointment
Did some more comparisons in Plane-Maker V10.3b8 and it seems to me the wing span is closer to 27.4 feet, assuming you don't include the fuselage width. Measuring from the wing root to wing tip looks like 13.7 feet. From the center of the fuselage to the wing tip is 15.5 feet. That means the wing span including the width of the fuselage would be closer to 31 feet. Fab10
Can the wings be extended easily, or is this an issue that will need to be left as is?I realise that the moving components will need to be corrected, as well as textures. Cameron
This is likely to be left as is. The product was released many years ago and only now is this really becoming a bigger concern since you started a thread (which is okay). We get many compliments on the Duchess pretty regularly and for that reason will happily sell it as it stands. You can purchase it if you like, or simply don't purchase it if this now is a major issue for you. This really just becomes a matter of economics. The complaint for this didn't come soon enough in the products prime of sales to make these types of changes viable at this point and time. I'm sorry if this comes as a disappointment! Fab10
Hi,No worries, I really do appreciate that you have looked into this. It's completely understandable that the project cannot be reopened, besides, I'm looking forward to newer and fresher products from XA.Best wishes,Fabio Edited August 25, 2014 by Fab10
