Agrajag Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 I love Sky Maxx Pro but one thing that I've been distracted by is a heavy blue coloring to clouds. I've never seen clouds look that color ever. Quote
JohnMAXX Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Looks like you have low visibility conditions.....Not far off if you think about it..... Quote
Agrajag Posted March 14, 2014 Author Report Posted March 14, 2014 I have thought about it and posted. I'd be curious to see any example from real life of such a coloring. Quote
Cameron Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Play around with different sky color themes. Each one will have a role in how X-Plane decides to render colors on things like the clouds. Regardless of what you have "thought" about, there's plenty of flexibility given to you to not only change many settings, but sky colors (both your own, others, or those included). There's nothing to change here on our end if that's what you're questioning or seeking. Quote
3saul Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 No one is pointing fingers and saying it's X-Plane's fault or SkyMaxx's fault - we just want the outcome. At least from my perspective, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know how XP communicates with SM Pro or vice versa. And I don't care. But we know we don't want blue clouds. So is there a solution that might be easy for you guy's to implement that might help us as users create configs we can share with each other? Other than taking screenshots? Perhaps a drop down list of configs for different scenarios in the settings screen of SMP? Is this a solution worth considering? Quote
arb65912 Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 The solution is Maxx-FX http://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/maxx-p-107.html Quote
Agrajag Posted March 14, 2014 Author Report Posted March 14, 2014 Here's the deal guys. I bought SMP because it purported to be the most realistic clouds out there. I really am pretty happy with the product. However, these blue clouds are not realistic Like 3Saul, I bought it assuming I wouldn't have to resort to editing config files, etc. I assumed the product would provide for that. I'm not an artist. I don't want to have to become an expert is sky colors. I paid the money because you guys are supposed to be that for us. I've spent time since that post looking for blue cloud pictures in real life and have come up empty. One did have some blue but it was caused by reflections from below and nothing like the picture I posted. Bottom line is that I'm now disappointed by this sort of dismissive response. Oh well. I still like the product. Quote
Agrajag Posted March 14, 2014 Author Report Posted March 14, 2014 The solution is Maxx-FX http://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/maxx-p-107.html Forgive me, but you believe the solution to my problem with one product from a company is to buy a second product from that company? That's interesting. <grin> Quote
JohnMAXX Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) The condition in the image above is how X-Plane & the SilverLining integration handle Overcast conditions. SL is procedurally drawn and has been integrated to match with X-Plane as close as possible right now.... What you perceive as a problem is just us matching the conditions X-Plane presents..... AJ's suggestion was innocent and not that far off the mark, we developed MAXX FX to take a different approach on the overall scenery with X-Plane. Although it isn't an exclusive tweak for SMP it will give the end-user more control over the colors and contrast on the overall scene... Here is an image below as an example I put together real quick for you: By no means am I asking you to buy anything else just pointing out AJ's point. Art is a subjective topic we are just trying to give as much flexibility to users as we can with whats available to us in X-Plane..... Edited March 14, 2014 by JohnMAXX Quote
Hueyman Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Wow I didn't know it was released already great ! If I fly more often on X-Plane I'll take it Quote
Agrajag Posted March 14, 2014 Author Report Posted March 14, 2014 Thanks John. It's appreciated. What did it take to get the right-most picture? Quote
JohnMAXX Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Thanks John. It's appreciated. What did it take to get the right-most picture? Thats MAXX FX if you look at the bottom of the image you will see part of the user interface. When that is open you will see a side by side comparison of your custom settings/pre-defined settings...... Once you close out the dialog the whole scene will reflect whats on the right.... Quote
Agrajag Posted March 14, 2014 Author Report Posted March 14, 2014 Got it. I'll keep this in mind as an option and hope arb wasn't too taken aback by my response. Quote

Its all good If I ever come off as short please don't get the wrong idea, keep in mind SMP is very organic and we have some good ideas floating around...... Quote

No, arb was fine because he knew that your original negative response was caused by lack of proper information. Below is the sample of what can be achieved by my favorite "trio" LES Saab 340A , SkyMaxx Pro and Maxx-XP. It was made before the latest SMP update which is now even better. I was flying on FSEconomy and did not want to "waste" the flight. I am paying off Saab 340A of FSE, need every v$. Enjoy! Cheers, AJ For the best viewing results , please watch on You Tube , full screen and HD Edited March 15, 2014 by arb65912 2 Quote

To be clear, no one was suggesting editing any kind of files or even creating your own sky colors. SkyMaxx Pro comes with various color sets for you already. All you have to do is select them in the SkyMaxx Pro menu. Additionally, you may download other sky colors already made for X-Plane and install them into SkyMaxx Pro. Instructions on how to do this are included in the manual. Quote
Ben Russell Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Shot with an iPhone 4S standing in my backyard. It's not exactly what you're seeing, but it's visually similar. If the very large blob of solid monotone gray from your original screenshot were broken up just a little the overall visual effect would be a lot less jarring. 2 Quote
